Tristan Wirfs Talks About His Smooth Ride

Joe had a serious question for beastly rookie Tristan Wirfs today that may have seemed a little silly.
Thankfully, Wirfs took it seriously and gave a thoughtful answer.
Joe has marveled at Wirfs’ film and consistency, but also his attitude and how easy everything looks for him at right tackle. So at an afternoon news conference, Joe asked the Bucs’ smiley 21-year-old if the NFL has been easier for him physically than he ever expected.
From Joe’s vantage point, Wirfs hasn’t even gotten banged up en route to playing every single snap this season.
Wirfs smiled about his great health and looked to “knock on wood” and he noted that he really hasn’t had any issues physically but was expecting plenty.
“I was thinking like, you know, it being an NFL schedule, there would be a lot more game I would be just hurting like crazy,” Wirfs said. “It is a long season, you know, you get a little worn down. But I was just, in my head, like playing it up a lot more. I thought I was going to be just [feeling] bad.”
The All-Pro rookie (per two local legends) repeated that he’s been very healthy and ready for more.
Joe hopes that the new breed of Bucs always thinks of the season as 21 week affair. No more bolting for European beaches right after New Year’s.

The Giants game the Bucs oline was highlighted as the only team with all five starters for 8 games… that night the Bucs lost Ali for four games.

Joe I for one honestly think that “the sickness” actually helped the rookies. By that I mean none of them were going to all the different things on ESPN, NFL Network or flying to meet with all the different teams doing all the pre-draft stuff and were able to keep working out and preparing for their transition into the league. Looks like the rookies we got took advantage of the extra prep time.
I remember Rojo saying when he came in bigger and stronger in his 2nd year that he was able to concentrate on getting ready and didn’t have to worry about all the other stuff.

He’s had an incredible season. No wonder Ira and Dungy have nominated him for the All-Pro roster. The fact that he’s been able to stay healthy the whole time just adds to the aura.

Dude is a beast, and to me this one goes down as one of the very best draft classes we have had since Dungy.
Seriously, Wirfs and Winfield in the first two rounds.
Vaughn in round three looked like a starter two weeks ago, and Tyler Johnson looks like a baller.

82.2 PFF rating, 1 sack allowed, 3 penalties in 1,073 snaps. That’s incredible stats for a veteran, let alone a rookie!

Well. To be fair to Joe, we normally dont give a damn about this time of year. I start looking at my golf clubs a little more, though not actually swinging one and Im looking for something to divert me from another crap year.
Reeling back into the present I feel sooooo Jacked, so pumped, so confident and swole that I dont even care what auestions he asks. Theres a reason this is the number one fan blog. We get first hand info. The Joes write for us, to us, concerning us. I personally dig that and though I give them hell once in awhile they are on our team so Im backing them. Tristin Wirf is a man now. Hes 21 and tough as a Brazil nut. Hes not afraid of any D lineman in the league. Hes too young to be impressed because hes busy living his freaking dream ya’ll.
