Rondé Barber Expects Coaching To Show Up
January 7th, 2021One can always count on Buccaneers legend Rondé Barber for a fresh perspective.
The first-time Hall of Fame finalist (get him in, eye-RAH!) shared takes on the Bucs this week during an interview on official team-sponsored radio programing.
Barber emphasized that preparation dictates results and he emphasized — multiple times — that he places that squarely on coaching. Barber’s enthusiasm for the Bucs’ prospects in the playoffs comes from their talent level and how the team has proven it can turn in elite performances.
Barber stressed that the defense’s big-time capability may be a bit underrated, and he expects the juice from a playoff game to bring out the best in everyone on the field and on the sidelines on Saturday.
“With that little jolt of adrenaline comes a hyper-focus, if you’re prepared, if you’re ready for it,” Barber explained.
“Again, I put this on our coaches because they’ve been there; they understand what it takes to win in the playoffs. You know, with that little bit of [playoff] energy comes a hyper-focus that can make your best day happen on that one given day. So that’s what I’m expecting.”
Joe’s expecting it, as well.
The Bucs’ slow starts were out of control and inexcusable through much of this season. As Barber said, preparation was the cause. But that appears to be in the rear view mirror and it certainly should be.
Over 60 minutes, Washington can’t hang with the Bucs — unless Tampa Bay is unprepared.

I’m expecting an overzealous defense that gets burned early, and an offense that tries to run the ball early and get stuffed. followed up by TB taking over the locker room and game plan at the 1/2 and a 2nd half rally for the win.

Robert I don’t know how the Washington team can stuff the run when they’ve given up 1800 yards on the ground this season.

We have to establish the run early. Period. Their pass rush is great but if we run the ball effectively we can absolutely destroy them with play action.
January 7th, 2021 at 10:35 am
Run the ball then beat ‘em deep with play action. This offense reminds me of the 99-00 Rams.
January 7th, 2021 at 10:37 am
Any team CAN stop the run if it is expected. Play calling is the difference….and if the Bucs revert to their play calling of a few games back this could be ugly. We need to do what we’ve done the last few games and get up some points and then run the ball. And with luck we can win the coin flip. Don’t want this to turn into another Chicago game as someone else said.

Run RoJo to balance out the offense and create PA. The lack of that this year. Or Fournette will get the most touches or some BS. Searching for years for a run game and Bucs and RoJo get ripped off by BA and BL stubbornness. Sh!t better not happen in the playoffs or we won’t win.

Ronde better get in the Hall this year!! The most physical corner lb for lb of all time in my opinion!
January 7th, 2021 at 11:00 am
I feel the game will go like the last few. Washington will stay in the game for a bit then the Bucs run away with it and win by 3 scores.

After Ronde gets in, Johnny needs to get in next! Rice needs to get in as well!

For once, I want us to handle prosperity well. The whole world is picking us. Step on their throats and do what is expected…

There is some back history to look at in this coaching match up. In 2015 the 11-5 Cardinals under BA’s tutelage played the 7-8-1 Panthers coached by who else…. that’s right Ron Rivera.
Cardinals not only got beat by 11 , they also got pole axed by the Carolina D for the lowest total yardage in NFL playoff history @ 78 yards. BA would do well to look back at that game and see where his preparation went so horribly wrong , and also what Rivera did that was so successful against his offense.
If we do not learn from history then we are doomed to repeat it. All that being said , we have the GOAT and he will never be confused with Ryan Lindley who woefully mismanaged the Cards offense. I do believe our Bucs win , but it will be a nailbiter. Ronde deserves to be in HOF.

BucsfanSince1976- before that game the Cardinals lost Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton and another kid. They were literally down to their 4th string QB (Bruce called him 4th string). That is the only explanation needed for that game.

Can the D just got off the field

i agree with barber…
this 1st game is on the coaches….
GO BUCS!!!!

I think Rojo runs wild…..which opens up the play action for any one of our receiving threats.

WFT’s only wins over a team with a pulse was 23-15 week 13 over the rapidly ascending Steelers and week 14 over the super banged up 49ers. GO BUCS

I think Ron Rivera is a great coach, and he beat Arians before, but we just have too much talent for the football team to handle, IMHO.
Try as I might, I just can not see us falling to Washington Saturday.
I see us winning, and I will be rooting for Chicago to eliminate the Saints.
They played them to overtime this season before they lost, and they had not found their offense then.

Barring the unforeseen (turnovers or injuries), this game is blow out.
31-10 Bucs
Washington’s offense is garbage. The Bucs will figure out Washington’s defense early or late, and our defense will create 1-2 turnovers.

Do not change a thing on offense. Young is actually a better run stopper than he is pass rusher. Our biggest problem are our DB’s they are awful. So fake blitz and drop linebackers to shut off Smith short passes. What the Bucs have been is good in the red zone. Keep them to field goals then check & mate.
