GMC: Run Bucs, Run!
December 25th, 2020The former six-time Pro Bowler is no longer on the Bucs and had to sit out this season due to a knee injury while on the Cowboys roster in training camp, so Gerald McCoy has had plenty of time to watch his Bucs.
GMC this week appeared on “Good Morning Football,” seen weekday mornings on NFL Network, and proudly proclaimed how he was a Bucs fan before he was drafted and will always be a Tampa Bay fan unless he’s playing for a team facing the Bucs.
GMC even scolded co-host and closet Bucs fan Peter Schrager for what GMC perceived as dissing the Bucs earlier in the show.
So of course, GMC was asked about the playoffs. GMC said it is simple: If the Bucs will become lethal if they commit to the run game with the weapons in place for park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.
“They have to let Tom do what Tom does,” GMC said. “[Let Brady return to what] made his career, play-actions, motions, things of that sort. Cause once [the Bucs] run the ball — run the ball. Gotta run the ball. Stick to the run.
“Leading up to Week 8 or 9, RoJo was like a top-five running back in yards. They can run the ball. You’ve got Shady [McCoy]. You’ve got Leonard Fournette. They can run the ball.
“If you give Tom Brady a run game, [it] opens up the play-action and they will kill you. They have too many weapons, man. I believe when they are hitting on all cylinders, they are one of the most complete teams in the league.”
The Bucs can legitimately make a run to the Super Bowl if they commit to the run and shore up the secondary, GMC said, mentioning the Bucs pass defense was solid earlier in the year.
GMC did say something rather powerful to Joe. He said he spoke recently with Lavonte David about the Bucs needing one more win more win to secure a playoff berth. The gravity of the moment is not lost on David. GMC said David told him, “‘Man, G if we are blessed enough to make the playoffs, I think I might cry.'”

Honestly if he is healthy and willing i would sign him as depth
December 25th, 2020 at 2:44 pm
I will say GMC drove me crazy sometimes with not being there late in games but he IS a solid human being. The way he stands up for our team speaks volumes.

Credit to the seemingly polarizing GMC. I doubt he every plays again…but should have plenty of loot to fall back on.
December 25th, 2020 at 3:41 pm
Haven heard his name since he left until now.
He was the Bucs’ s Evan Longoria.
December 25th, 2020 at 3:58 pm
Training camp?
December 25th, 2020 at 4:17 pm
Bucs stay FAR FAR away from this softie! He will bring this team down quicker than spit!
December 25th, 2020 at 4:28 pm
Better listen up Bucs……. if anyone knows about winning it’s the big Softie.
Career loser and a total bullsh!tter.
December 25th, 2020 at 4:34 pm
If you follow him on Twitter, you know he rides with the Bucs.
December 25th, 2020 at 4:35 pm
If they are unblessed enough to miss the playoffs, I might cry…
December 25th, 2020 at 4:43 pm
The GMC haters are you just typical internet/radio talk show caller a-sholes.
December 25th, 2020 at 4:52 pm
Cobraboy: I believe the Bucs are playoff bound. Save the crying for the playoffs. Hahaha
December 25th, 2020 at 6:05 pm
It just wouldnt be Christmas without a bit of GMC.
Rod Much I hate to burst your bubble but theres good reason why one of the first moves Bruce and Todd made was replaceing Gerald McCoy……I can agree with you about hate our defense did gain respectabilty as soon as GMC was fired. He was our best player(on endless embarassing defenses) so replacing him was a big part of seijng our defense finally improve……Thats called accountability.
December 25th, 2020 at 6:45 pm
They definitely need to run the ball more. The difference in our offence when we run ball and use play action is night and day compared to when we just pass, pass, and pass some more. However shady should not touch the ball moving forward or in the playoffs. The way he carries the ball like a loaf of bread is a fumble waiting to happen. Go back and look at his career fumbles.
December 25th, 2020 at 6:48 pm
Say what you want, but I’d love to see him signed and end up retiring a Buc. He isn’t what he used to be. But if Suh and McCoy were on this line next year, with Vea, I’d be very pleased.

Big time charlatan!
Some week ago was laughing about TB12 and reminding about W eater!!
You are an ex Player GMC…
Most of us un Tampa dont respect you anymore
December 25th, 2020 at 7:22 pm
JimmyJack – GMC didn’t fit the style of defense, and was getting old – him moving on isn’t the same thing as the jerkoffs who spent a decade saying he sucked as him and David were the only NFL-caliber players on the defense. Blaming GMC for the corners not being able to cover is as stupid as blaming Winston year after year for the corners not being able to cover.

The Cowboys will cut Gerald. He is done.
December 25th, 2020 at 8:25 pm
I agree with Geralds take on the bucs game plan f*uckery. The same points have been made by sports bar patrons for weeks. But he is probably speaking to the views of the players, he knows them.
He is not a nose in 3-4 but it would have been interesting to see gerald play end with Todd’s defense. In Nassibs spot or opposite gholston or Su
December 25th, 2020 at 8:27 pm
Look…
GMAC isn’t a bad guy, he seems to be a great person.
Dude is NOT a winner, he’s never been capable of stepping up in big moments or providing inspiration to lead the other guys on the squad. #FACT!
He was the pillar of the mental weakness on this defense for years.
December 25th, 2020 at 8:42 pm
he’s done…and he won’t be a buc as long as suh is here…
salary comparisons?…who would rock #93?…and so on and so on…too much crap…
he just might know he’s now done in the league, and would love a roster spot next year with the bucs because the superbowl is theirs next season…
i don’t see the bucs going from hard ice cream scoops to soft serve…
but you never know…
i’m sure he wants to retire a buc, get a ring with tom, and if that’s the case, ultimately have his name in the ring of honor…
i don’t see it happening…
but realistically, if he does come back next year, ultra cheap, and wins a ring, i do think he is then in the bucs ring of honor
December 25th, 2020 at 9:12 pm
GMC was talented, quick get off, but didn’t deliver. His passive attitude didnt do him any favors. Another Buc that fell way below his potential. Ring of Honor? No way!
December 25th, 2020 at 10:42 pm
Bucs chose Su over Gerald, they could have kept him as an end but decided to roll with Su Vita and Gholston. It would have been interesting to see him play end opposite Su on passing downs.
December 26th, 2020 at 4:40 am
I was never a McCoy fan but if he’s rooting for the Bucs that’s great, plenty of room on the band wagon. I’m with Lavonte, when we qualify for the playoffs I’ll be shedding a few alcohol enhanced tears.
December 26th, 2020 at 8:31 am
The best thing Arain’s ever did, and if nothing else, I will always be grateful to him is cut that doll playing, ah shucks loving, better next time, my bad Ben, snowflake Gerry McCoy.
December 26th, 2020 at 8:53 am
GMC and LVD are very close friends. GMC took a beating from a lot of yahoos in this area. The fact that there are stupids in the Buc fan base doesn’t come as a shock. I am thrilled that LVD will finally get to a playoff game cos man, does he deserve it! You bet GMC will be in his corner cheering for him and the team. Go Bucs and thank you Joes for this piece on GMC.
December 26th, 2020 at 8:58 am
David White
Barrett Suh Vea McCoy Pierre-Paul
Not terrible, but I like Anthony Nelson too
December 26th, 2020 at 11:42 am
A lot of “conservatives” on this site hate on the man but I would like to think any Christian man appreciates the man GMC has been in and out of a Buc uniform representing Christian values. Hearing LVD say he might cry if they make the playoffs seriously puts a different spin on this…might shed a tear and raise a glass to this team if they really finally play with some heart like JPP, LVD, Evans Godwin and several others do every damn week.
