Sad End Of Justin Evans

Justin Evans will be remembered more for not getting on the field.
Joe pretty much figured Bucs safety Justin Evans had taken his last snap as a Bucs player already.
But Joe didn’t think the official end would come three days before Christmas.
The Bucs cut the cord on Evans, a talented safety who just could not stay healthy. First, it was feet issues. Then an Achilles. Tuesday, Evans failed a physical (were the Bucs trying to activate him?) and the Bucs decided enough is enough.
Evans was in the final year of his contract.
A second-round pick in 2017, Evans’ highlight was picking off then-Belicheats quarterback Tom Brady on Thursday Night Football.
Evans was drafted in the second round in 2017 and every season he found himself on the injured reserve list. His last game was Dec. 2, 2018, in a Bucs home win 24-17 over the Stinking Panthers.
After missing all of last year with feet problems, Evans had an injured Achilles when training camp began. Asked at the time what Evans’ status was, a frustrated Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians replied, “You’d have to talk to Jesus.”

Best of luck to him. Had high hopes for this guy. Has talent but that means nothing if you can’t get on the field.

Simply from a humanistic standpoint you have to feel empathy for Evans….
He obviously did his best to rehab but failed….what a disappointment.

Man! I had such a high hopes from him. He had range and could cover well while also being able to thump people when he tackles. I remember in college when he absolutely trucked Derek Henry for a loss. I hope he can regain his health, and that he’ll be able to resume his career.

The NFL is a tragic and brutal business for most all-star athletes since they started playing football at a young age.
The NFL simply doesn’t care and most college athletes never get a sniff in the NFL.
Tragically most of these kids never plan for life after football and alot them sink into a sad life filled with depression after football.
While all of these athletes know the consequences of not making it in the NFL………still, they never plan.

quincy black was another career ending injury linebacker from new mexico i believe. @joe do all teams usually have this many career ending injuries or is this mostly bucs luck?

Doesn’t seem high at all to Joe. With Evans it wasn’t just one injury. Quincy Black’s injury was very rare. He had nerve damage in his shoulder so bad he wasn’t physically able to play football again.

Very unfortunate. The guy was very talented.
I hoped he saved his money.
Many excellent players never see the big lights because their body failed them.
I played with a supremely talented OT from Notre Dame who could never stay healthy, college or pro. He had four knee surgeries well before ‘scopes were on the radar. But when he played, he was a monster.

Yep. I envisioned him and Whitehead back there at safety for a long time, I’m glad for Winfield but that’s disappointing. Good luck to him.

I’ve never seen an NFL player, especially a DB, take bad angles almost 100% of the time he went to make a tackle… I should went to miss a tackle

It’s a shame, but a person’s best ability is availability. With that, you can chalk up Justin Evans being another Licht draft bust. I wish him well in his future endeavors.

At least he can say he reached his goal of playing in the NFL. How many can say that? He gave it his all. That’s all anybody can ask or do. Best of luck to you in all future life endeavors.

That’s not fair. Anyone who can predict injuries is either a liar or God.
If anyone has a formula to predict injuries, they can make a mint selling that to the NFL.

Tanard jackson was a baller. Just couldn’t stop smoking. In today’s age, he’d be just fine. Wasn’t an injury that ended his tenure
