“You’re Going To Behave Today, Right?”
December 17th, 2020It seems Bucs center Ryan Jensen is well known for questionable behavior.
He’s not menacing decent people by throwing common household objects like furniture or bicycles. Nothing like that. Jensen has a reputation of playing physical football on the edge of NFL rules.
Excellent insight on just how known Jensen’s angry style is around the NFL was provided this week by Buccaneers offensive line coach Joe Gilbert.
He hopped on the Buccaneers Radio Network and noted what Jensen endures every game, apparently multiple times.
“I don’t know if we’ve ever [been] around a guy that gets more referees come up and talk to him before a game. Right before we do center-quarterback exchange,” Gilbert said of Jensen. “I mean it’s like every umpire, referee comes up and [says], you’re going to behave today, right?’ You know, it’s unbelievable. But you know Ryan, that’s his game. That’s what gets him energized, that gives him the energy he needs to go out there and play at a high level.”
Fun stuff there. Joe loved how it’s more than just one zebra approaching Jensen each week.
Gilbert noted that Jensen gets so fired up occasionally that it affects his play. “Sometimes that technique might go a little bit awry,” Gilbert said of Jensen when he’s completely riled up.
But overall, Gilbert had nothing but praise for Jensen’s season. And Joe will add continued kudos to Jensen, who largely has managed to keep officials flags in their pockets since his rough 2018 debut season in Tampa.
Gilbert went on to praise how well Jensen has worked to get in tune Tom Brady and how Jensen makes all the defensive identifications and communicates cleary.

I firmly believe you need 1 guy on each side of the ball with that attitude. I never want penalties, but as long as you keep the penalties down to 1 every other game on personal foul stuff im ok with that. It sure sets a tone for the game when you play with or against one of those guys.

Would you rather this talk or the one donovan gets pre game?
Coach “Don, you are gonna give it your all every play today right?”

I’m ok with the occasional penalty, as long as it’s not during a crucial point in game. A true tough guy, absolutely love having him on team. Big red needs to be a Buccaneer for life

Jensen is playing in the wrong era. What he is known for and what he does was commonplace and no one batted an eye back in the 70’s.

It seems like every team has a guy, that if not on our team, we would all hate. Lol. Jensen is ours.

Just be nice like Durable Donovan.
No problems…..right.
Umm, Donovan, you do realize you’re getting paid $875k today right?
Think you can stay motivated for the next 3 hours?

Jensen does look like he smells like salami and egg farts though!

Joe, you’re around these guys as much as anyone so let me ask: Has Jensen taken over the leadership role of this OLine?

Yea hes been good since Brady flipped out during the Chicago game.
That 15 yarder that knocked us out of field goal range of our 90% accurate kicker, in a game we lost by 1 point.
Im sure he feels he cost us that game. Still can’t believe we lost to those bums. That game still haunts me. Vaughn call, dean not getting that int. Shaq getting a offsides that wasn’t offsides. Jpp with a bs roughing the passer, and jpp strip sack getting recovered by chicago. Damn they needed a perfect storm to beat us and they got it.

Would be nice to see that attitude be the norm for the entire team as opposed to the odd guy out.

Love Jensen, one of Lichts better signings

Yeah Jensen is a beast but not a dirty player by any means. He has a lot of energy. He always has any teammate’s back. I’ve watched him since we picked him up and back in 18-19 he did have some questionable plays might be a little on the edge, but playing with Winston I think was part of his frustration. Brady and Gronk have seriously helped the attitude of the whole team. Our penalties are way down from yards past which is huge. Now we need to draft a future starting qb unless Josh Rosen is looking good. GO BUCS!

Wow Joe, yo really hate AB even though he’s don’t nothing but shown up, put his head down and caught most everything thrown his way. I think he’s been a great pickup. Inredible talent.
