Remember when Bucco Bruce Arians called the Bucs a “really tired team” on Nov. 17?
Joe sure does, and Joe believes hard evidence showed up yesterday — in a good way.
The temperature was 80 degrees at the Den of Depression and the Bucs defense had been on the field far too long by the time the fourth quarter rolled in. But the Bucs were unfazed and looked refreshed, teeing off on the Vikings ‘offensive line like a big July thunderstorm that was building for a couple of hours.
Ndamukong Suh, one of the oldest and perhaps the most tired Buccaneer, had a lot of media types nationwide chattering over the last 17 hours after he was highlighted by an official NFL Twitter account.
Per NextGen Stats data, the numbers generated by technology tracking of uniforms, equipment, etc., Suh turned in one of the most ferociously consistent pass rushes of the year against the Vikings.
Ndamukong Suh generated a team-high 9 QB pressures (and 1 sack) on Kirk Cousins, tied for the 3rd-most pressures in a game this season by any defender.

That sure smells like the work of a refreshed player coming off a bye week, and Suh had company in the Bucs’ trenches on both sides of the ball.
As the bumbling Falcons, next week’s opponent, are making vacation and Christmas plans, the Bucs are refreshed and re-focused.
Sounds like a painful Sunday ahead for Matt Ryan.

With that said, the Bucs have the easiest remains schedule in the NFL. They need to get this done!

I agree about that second half performance. After that time of possession debacle of the first half and the heat I was worried…needlessly it turns out.
When Ali Marpet jumped offsides to start a critical series needing to avoid a 3 and out first and 15…I worried. Sure enough we failed to convert and it was a three and out at perhaps the very worst time.
Our defense came through and by the 4th quarter it looked as if it was the Vikes who were gassed not us. I think even if the Vikes had scored again we were clearly the fresher team and beginning to exert our will.

They need to Blitz Ryan hard and bring Winfield on the weak side when “Matty Lite” rolls out. Time for the Bucs d-line to bring some serious pain to Atlanta.

I can’t imagine how much better our rush would have been with Vita……missing the big guy!!!
But….the really good news is that we seem to be very healthy on both sides of the ball…..

The Falcons almost beat the Chargers yesterday, plus they have 2 of our ex head coaches who would just love to spoil our playoff plans.
That being said, we play much better with a lead!

Yeah the Falcons are not a very good team, but it is still most likely going to be a track meet next week. Least turnovers wins the game. GO BUCS!!!

i see us splitting the 2 games with them…
it would be something big if we take 2 from them in 3 weeks

I totally agree its not a coincidence that our run defense dramatically became elite when Gerald McCoy was let go and Suh signed. Yes Vita has had a great impact but Suh has been a beast when rested and perhaps those plays where its noticed he isnt as aggressive have come because the rotation has been sparse. I love that we started rotating lineman. It seems usually in the fourth quarter besides JPP our rush evaporates but yesterday they stepped up and shut down a qb who had a 135 QB rating in the fourth quarter. AWESOME JOB D LINE you won us that game down the stretch!!!!!

The DL rotation seems to have worked helping keeping the big men fresh. I think if our depth DL players continue to make plays we will be a very dangerous team along the DL.
