“Bloodbath”
November 28th, 2020Popular sports TV and radio personality Adam Schein cannot wait for the Chiefs-Bucs game, scheduled to kickoff tomorrow at 4:25 p.m. at the Den of Depression.
It’s not because Schein thinks this will be a close game. No sir. Schein is geeked because he believes there’s a chance he could be watching NFL history.
Schein is convinced the Chiefs are going to throttle the Bucs perhaps worse than what the Saints did on Sunday Night Football. And Schein believes the engine behind the expected rout will come from Chiefs wunderkind quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the defending Super Bowl champion-quarterback.
Schein believes Mahomes will torch the Bucs for five touchdown passes, so he said on his CBS Sports Network show, “Time to ScheinI
.”
“Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, CBS — this Sunday!” Schein began. “I can’t wait for it. It’s going to represent the unofficial passing of the baton.
“Patrick Mahomes is going to light up the screen Sunday on CBS.”
Schein respects the Bucs’ front-seven (“They have dudes.”) but it seems Schein believes Mahomes will fry the Bucs’ secondary.
On the Bucs’ offense, Schein has lost all faith in park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, jet ski-losing, handshake-stiffing Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.
“Sorry Tom Brady,” Schein said. “You are just not the guy anymore. Tom Brady has been dreadful when you look at big games this year. The Saints games. What transpired on Monday Night Football against the Rams.”
Schein also wagged his finger at Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians for not providing more support for Brady since he lost his long-ball by developing a ground game.
“Why would I trust 43-year old Tom Brady who has been dreadful over the last few weeks throwing the ball down the field for 20 yards or more?” Schein asked. “Spoiler alert: I wouldn’t.”
Schein then added, “I think this is going to be a bloodbath.”

Bucs are trending in the wrong direction and they have absolutely no identity either on defense or offense right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get the ever-living sh-t beat out of them tomorrow.
P.S. Arians and Leftwich are two of the dumbest coaches I’ve ever witnessed and I’ve seen a whole lot of them. Can’t design a game plan around their players’ abilities, making adjustments that are too little too late, and being ignorantly stubborn in their approach. I gave them a chance but I don’t see them having the mental ability to adapt.

FLBoyInDallas … Hard to disagree with a single thing you wrote FLBoy. There’s a very good chance that the 9-1 Chiefs kick the living daylights out of our Bucs. They’ve certainly got everything going for them: #1 offense, #7 defense, a great coach who knows how to take advantage of his team’s talent, etc, etc.
BUT … the Raiders are the one team that played them very tough this year. Raiders beat them 40-32 in their first meeting at Arrowhead, but lost the second meeting 35-31. That means that the Raiders put up 70 pts against the Chiefs.
In the 1st game, Raiders ran 35 times for 144 yds (4.1 YPC) and passed it 31 times for 347 yds (completed 22 for 3 TDs against 1 INT). IOW the Raiders RAN THE FRIGGIN BALL on 52.2% of their plays … and used the run to set up the pass. Carr was 3-for-6 deep in the 1st half (with 1 INT), but he only threw ONE deep pass in the 2nd half (complete). Score was tied 24-24 at halftime, so it appears that the Raiders adjusted their strategy at halftime to use more short passing (death by 1,000 cuts?) and outscored the Chiefs in the 2nd half 16-8 (2TDs + 1 FG to 1 TD). Oh & BTW, Raiders owned the clock 35:18 to 24:42 TOP … even though the 2 teams had almost exactly the same number of plays.
In the 2nd game, Raiders almost pulled off a 2nd win, but the Chiefs scored a TD with 28 secs left in game to win 35-31. Raiders only ran 26 times in this game for 89 yds (3.4 YPC) and passed it 31 times for 275 yds (completed 23 for 3 TDs against 1 INT). Raiders RAN THE FRIGGIN BALL on 45.6% of their plays this game, but didn’t get as much out of it. Carr was 3-for-3 deep in the 1st qtr (1 for a TD), but didn’t throw any deep passes in the 2nd qtr or 3rd qtr. Went deep 4 times in the 4th qtr … completed 0 and 1 was intercepted (end-of-game Hail Mary). Chiefs won the TOP battle 32:05 to 27:55 but they also had a LOT more plays (73 to 57).
So how could the Bucs beat the Chiefs? Simple: play near-perfect BALANCED FOOTBALL. Chiefs have been amazingly consistent at scoring all season: an average of 32 PPG this season (majority of their games have been in the mid-30s). They’ve beaten some good teams (Ravens, Bills, Raiders) but most of their wins have come against teams that aren’t having a particularly good year (Texans, Patriots, Broncos, Jets, Panthers, Chargers). Chiefs are susceptible to the run (rank #27) and are giving up an average of 4.6 yds/rush.
Now who wants to explain the notion of a BALANCED ATTACK to BA and BL? Any takers?
November 28th, 2020 at 7:30 am
Contenders, or pretenders? This game will tell us which. Is Bowles really a defensive genius who comes up with a perfect game plan to beat Mahomes? Does Brady find his long ball magic throwing TD’s to wide open receivers down field? Or as Stein says, it’s a bloodbath? Gonna get some answers soon which way this season is going.
November 28th, 2020 at 7:40 am
Great analysis, Defense…
Mine is much more simple….it’s not a prime time game, so we have a chance.
I’ts not a game we should win, so we might.
There is one thing we need to do and that score 35 points.
Here is a suggestion…..play action on 1st down….use the TEs much more…..stay away from the long stuff….
And……at least once….please throw the ball on 2nd and short….
Play press man coverage the entire game and shadow Edwards-Helaire with LVD or White
November 28th, 2020 at 7:57 am
The inconsistency is a common thread from 2019 to 2020. That’s on the coaches. Winston’s strengths are Brady’s weaknesses. Playoffs?…..maybe. Super Bowl?…..dream on. Blow it up. Break it down. Salvage what you can. Start over from scratch. This is not a championship team.
November 28th, 2020 at 8:00 am
Well said DR.
ESTABLISH THE FRIGGIN RUN! Then go play action. Personally, I think a couple (“couple” does not mean 20) of deep shots to our WRs.
Maybe I am crazy (after all, I am a Bucs fan, so that is ample evidence), but all the talking heads, even Joe, is a pretty negative as to where our Bucs are. This is much like before the Green Bay game. “We suck, we suck, we suck.” So maybe we finally kick some ass. Its not like we don’t have the weapons. Its TIME
Am I just completely delusional?🤪
November 28th, 2020 at 8:14 am
agree with hodad…
this game is the definer moving forward…
as i said before, i don’t care if we go 3-1 or 4-0 vs the crap teams in december…
well i do care…lol…
but if we lose to the chiefs and win those final 4, don’t be fooled, we will be one of the lower echelon teams in the playoffs…
we need this chiefs game as a signature win on sunday to let the league know we are contenders…not pretenders…

It’s really simple. The Bucs may very well score 35 points. Great! The prob is the Chiefs have Andy Reid and Mahomes. You think the Rams schemed guys open all night? Well, wait to you get a load of this. It boggles the mind that people assume this is a better matchup than the Rams. Oh sure because Jared Goff totally keeps me up at night, I’d much rather play Mahomes and Tyreek hill putting double moves on us for 68 yard touchdowns all day eyeroll.
November 28th, 2020 at 8:44 am
Saints and Rams games were the measuring stick….
We failed miserably with a capital F
November 28th, 2020 at 9:05 am
Chiefs aren’t as good as the national media types slobber out every day. They’ve escaped like 5 losses by the mahomes’ magic. Miracles can’t go on endlessly.
November 28th, 2020 at 9:20 am
The raiders aren’t the only team that played them close lol.
The Panthers lol. HELLO? Lost by how many? Ok then.
So that was incorrect statement that the Raiders are the only team to play them “close”
Anyway. We won’t get enough pressure on Mahomes and our secondary is straight garbage. Our O-line is in shambles. I pray Marpet can play.
D. Smith is a turnstile.
Leftwich is terrible. No creativity at all. No adjustments. Abandons the run too soon. Swing pass plays to RB who can’t catch while you have Evans, Godwin, AB, Lil Scotty (who is now irrelevant. Which should be a crime) Gronk, Brate. I mean good lord. How TF are they not more involved. It’s because Leftwich is terribly bad. Arians just stands there letting it all happen.
Mahomes can easily throw for 350-400 yards if he wants. They will probably have such a big lead he won’t have too and they’ll just run the ball.
Meanwhile our offense will sputter around looking lost. Brady will be under pressure ALL day.
45-20. And the wheels fall off as tension builds in the locker room.
Kaboom

Some pretty good comments so far. It looks like the median position by fans here is the Bucs are not serious SB contenders if they lose this one, prime time or not, and so much of the blame goes to poor coaching. Yeah, there is plenty to spread around, but good coaches find a way to perform in these games.
The Bucs are due, if nothing else other than odds, to turn in another great performance like they did with GB, and the Chiefs are due to lose one. Ironically, the Bucs best game I think was against GB, who is the only team so far to beat the Chiefs this year. Hmmmm…..
Marpet?
November 28th, 2020 at 9:21 am
@TBBF…I think you are 100% correct.
November 28th, 2020 at 9:23 am
I need to correct myself, indeed it was the Raiders, not the Packers, who beat the Chiefs.
November 28th, 2020 at 9:23 am
Gonna get ugly real quick.
The chiefs will probably score TD’s on the first 3 possessions and The Bucs won’t know what hit them.
This one will be over early.
November 28th, 2020 at 9:31 am
I’m glad Schein said what he did about Brady, whether any of us agree with him or not, and whether it’s true or not. Yes, Brady has been dreadful in SOME big games this year. But does Brady typically throw two clunkers in a row? Ans: No. We’ll see. If he does, Schein could likely be taken as balls-on accurate. And I don’t think Brady is the kind of guy to let a guy banking against him be proven right.
If the Bucs lose this one and things stay south and mediocre to poor to the end of the season, there will be much more fan pressure to dump Arians and Licht, but Brady and Arians would probably both retire end of year anyway–and the dark winters remain at the so-called Den of Depression for a few more drafts, that hopefully are done by Licht.
November 28th, 2020 at 9:34 am
Here is the big problem with all of these comments. This team was built for explosive plays but now we can’t do any of that because we have a QB who can’t pass 20 yards. If the Bucs unravel they need to consider waiving Brady in 2021 and try finding a replacement for him. He is the weak link on the team.
November 28th, 2020 at 9:55 am
We are missing Vita Vea tremendously as he collapse the pocket and the QB runs into the edge rushers, Offensive line missing Market and Smith is always up and down. Give Brady a little more protection and he will be much better , run the ball even if your down by 14 early, play more man cover and bring the heat on Patrick. Go Bucs show us is you have heart.
November 28th, 2020 at 10:06 am
The Bucs beat the Raiders by a respectable margin in Lost Wages this season. Bucs are also a better overall team in talent right now than LV. Tampa Bay knows it (finally) gets a rest next weekend. If KC comes in here full of itself, it could be a bloodbath, only the winner won’t be KC.
November 28th, 2020 at 10:15 am
When all said and done, they still have to play the game. Winners happen when the game is done, not before. Clean Jersey for Tom and the Bucs will be competative, dirty Jersey and it will not be pretty GO BUCS!!!!
November 28th, 2020 at 11:14 am
Based on history, I don’t see the Bucs winning this game. The Chefs simply have too much, and if the Bucs have to play catch-up, they are done.
My #1 concern is I’m not a believer at all in the Bucs D. The loss of Vea hurts badly, the rest of the DL looks tired, and Bowles “exotic” schemes no longer fool anyone. Besides, if you can’t win the physical/talent battle and have to resort to scheming, sooner or later OC’s will figure your magic act out.
Mahomes/Reid could put up 45 on the Bucs easily.
On the O-side, the Bucs are discombobulated. I have no idea who they are. I have no idea if THEY know who they are? I have no idea what their running game philosophy is. Their QB philosophy is “Tom knows best, so we’ll do that. We’ll figger it out as we go along”
It’s clear opponents have figured out the deep game of the Bucs, the riskit biskit thing. Two safeties are always present downfield.
When your best bet for deep yardage is pass interference, you have issues.
And I won’t even go into the left side of the OL. Wells/Haeg is a poor “next man up” for Smith/Marpet. The Shipley injury will loom large in this game.
Ironically, the most consistent offensive play this season is the FG. Who’da thunk it?
I’ll be surprised if the final score is closer than 21 points.
This season is not turning out the way it started. The once highly-touted Bucs look like just another mediocre team that neats up on the dregs, and gets lit up by the contenders.
And I would LOVE to be wrong. I would gladly eat a plate of cold, dead roadkill crow if it meant a win against the Chefs.
Shades of 2008…
November 28th, 2020 at 11:33 am
7-5 here we come.
November 28th, 2020 at 11:42 am
Not a believer. O-line decimated with injuries, DBs showing their inexperience…Sad to watch
November 28th, 2020 at 12:11 pm
How many DBs have they drafted now? So Vea goes down and the entire defense goes to hell? Nope means you did not have one to begin with that could match up with good teams. This will end 1 of 2 ways A Blowout or once again this defense lets a team walk right down the field to score in the final 2 minutes to score to win after we score. Because that is what this defense is.
November 28th, 2020 at 12:29 pm
MAJOR MISTAKE…
By this Bucs organization… I said it before the season began and people scoffed at me…
I stated multiple times… “This team is going nowhere with our secondary.”
The Bucs made a huge mistake not pursuing a solid Vet Corner in Free Agency or trading OJ Howard (or someone else) for one.
It didn’t take a rocket scientist to see how inconsistent Dean and SMB were. It doesn’t matter if they actually make some sort of ‘splash’ play. Consistency is what is needed to play NFL corner.
When we don’t get a massive pass rush on a QB our weak secondary gets torched. Vea improved our pass rush and helped mask that leaky secondary. With him gone they’re now being exposed.
ALSO…
On the Offensive side of the ball… we’ve just been using BAD MATH. Too often we end up throwing deep passes on 3rd downs instead of being more efficient and focusing on just getting a 1st down to keep possession. This is just plain DUMB.
November 28th, 2020 at 2:27 pm
It’s gonna be ugly.
November 28th, 2020 at 3:18 pm
Feels like a bounce back game for the Bucs.
November 28th, 2020 at 3:31 pm
BradyBucs … “This team is going nowhere with our secondary.”
Our Secondary has had issues for well over a decade now, BUT … THIS young Secondary still has talent, size & speed. Unfortunately they also have YOUTH, with no real experience on the field to lead them. There’s no John Lynch or Ronde Barber to to help guide them out there, and that’s a big deal IMO.
Without a bonafide pass rush, any QB is gonna have a field day against this defense (actually against most defenses). Zone is a disaster if you have no pass rush, and I’m sure that it’s hard to play man-coverage when you have to cover top NFL receivers for 30-40 secs (OK, maybe a slight exaggeration). Teams also know that the Bucs first priority is to stop the run, and they capitalize on that quite often with all the short-to-intermediate stuff (not that hard to do really from what I can see).
Still, we are 7-4 and we’ve only given up 30 pts or more to TWO teams (Saints twice & Chargers). The other 8 games we’ve given up less than 19 pts average per game … not that shabby. Our run defense is still ranked #1 in the NFL, and our pass defense is ranked #16 … and has come down with 14 INTs. Those AREN’T bad numbers, especially if you take away the Saints losses (hey, I’ll gladly concede that the Saints are a better all-around team).
I guess what I keep thinking is that this defense, like our offense, is a work in progress. Like Ian Beckles said earlier, our whole team is schizophrenic, a real Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde act. Not sure which one was ‘the good one’, but I hope that one shows up tomorrow.
November 28th, 2020 at 3:38 pm
So you’re saying there’s a chance
November 28th, 2020 at 5:07 pm
Hey guess what?! They still have to play the game!
The Bucs have talent. The Bucs CAN win.
Lets get back to the basics and punch this Chiefs team square in the mouth, Mike Tyson-style!!!
November 28th, 2020 at 5:55 pm
We are only overmatched at one position…QB. Not to slam Tommy but there is only one Mahomes right now.
This would be wonderful time for Devin White to blow up and make Joe eat all the slams about his being drafted too high.
I remember a time in the past when Michael Vick was the Mahomes of his day.
Unstoppable because he was incredibly fast and had a good arm…but the Bucs of yore came up with a relatively simple solution for Vick. DERRICK BROOKS!
Once Brooks jumped into Vick’s jock the game was decided. I think that D White has the same potential tomorrow. Mahomes doesn’t play that often against MLB’s with White’s speed to run him down.
I would have D White stuck in Mahomes jock all night long…let the rest of the D do the rest.
November 28th, 2020 at 6:33 pm
If Lovie Smith just sits back in a softzone on every 3rd down for yet another game, the Chiefs are going to put up 60 points. If Leftwich is ultra predictable, like he normally is, the Bucs aren’t going to put up 61 points.
I wouldn’t be shocked if the Chiefs blow out the Bucs, but I don’t expect it. But we’ll know right off the bat, if the Bucs get the ball first and just run up the gut like on 1st down like they always do, then we’ll know Leftwich didn’t do anything special for this game we can expect the offense to struggle early, and be behind by 21 points before they finally open things up. If the Chiefs get the ball first, and they even get to 3rd down, if Lovie is running the defense and just has the corners 15 yards off the ball playing zone, then we know the defense isn’t showing.
However, if neither of those happen, if the Bucs come out and playaction pass on their 1st play – or the defense blitzes on their first 3rd down, even if both of them backfire, it at least means it should be a competitive game.
We shall see…
November 28th, 2020 at 6:37 pm
stpetebucsfan – Well White isn’t Brooks, not even close, the closest thing we have to Brooks is David and if he’s not covering guys then they’re running wide open. However Mahomes isn’t Vick in terms of mobility – Mahomes is mobile, but Vick was a 4.3 guy playing QB – while Mahomes is a QB who is mobile. So, with that said I agree, White should be shadowing Mahomes and JPP and Shaq should be blitzing all day. But if they did that then how would Lovie be able to play his soft zone with 3 rushers and in 8 people standing around?
We need the Bowles from earlier in the year to come back and to ship whoever this coward is now who is coaching the defense to go away.
November 28th, 2020 at 6:56 pm
Rod
Agree that D White has miles and miles to go before even being mentioned in the same breath as DB55…but he is as fast and he can hit…so far he doesn’t have DB55 nose for the ball and his coverage skills have been suspect.
As for his coverage skills however that brings up a valid point of yours. The Bucs simply have not figured out Bowles zone D’s. I do not know if they’re too exotic or what but sometimes it’s embarrassing back there…looks like the Keystone Kops. D White has been one of the victims of these Ds…sometimes he looks lost in terms of his assignment…when he’s one on one however he seems to hold up pretty well. He gave up one TD on a perfect throw and catch but D White and the rest scare me in our zone concoctions.
November 28th, 2020 at 7:15 pm
seriously the dumbest fans in the NFL. You people panic too much. Im sure you turned off your tvs when the packers went up 10-0.
Let the game play out. If we win everyone will be right back on the wagon. If we lose and go 10-6 or 9-7 and make the playoffs……………isnt that what we signe up for? This crap doesnt happen over night. Look at the TB Lightning…….They were knocking on the doorstep for 6 years before they won the cup this year.
IT takes time. Lets get through 2020 and builld for 2021 and beyond. This team has some very young players and has some time before we have to draft a qb
November 28th, 2020 at 7:45 pm
Whatever seems like a lock, in the NFL usually the opposite happens.
November 28th, 2020 at 9:07 pm
We need Rojo to have a monster game and keep the clock running.
November 28th, 2020 at 10:00 pm
If the play calling doesn’t change, it’s a wrap. Coaches are supposed to put their players in positions to win. This coaching staff has failed miserably at that…
November 29th, 2020 at 7:33 am
Yeah teams have played the Chiefs close. Remember they are the S.B. champs. They get everyones best shot every week. The difference between them, and the Bucs is they’ve answered all their challenges. They don’t have 3 bad losses against playoff teams where they were completely out played, and coached.
