Weather: A very nice day is expected in Charlotte. Per AccuWeather.com, look for a kickoff temperature of 71 degrees with 62 percent humidity and a wind that could gust up to 20 mph (from the backend of Hurricane Eta?). By the third quarter it should bump up to 74 and drop back down to 71 at game’s end, all under sunny skies. You cannot get much better weather than that for football.

Outlook: Well, you could say the football weekend for the Bucs didn’t get off the ground on time. The Bucs were delayed some seven hours getting to Charlotte yesterday due to mechanical issues with their original plane. After being stuck on the tarmac of Tampa International Airport for five hours, the team was allowed to deplane and then it held team meetings and had a meal scattered about a private area of the airport, all while socially distanced, of course. The Bucs finally arrived at their Charlotte hotel shortly after midnight. As for the game today, Joe really has no idea what to expect as the Bucs try to recuperate from one of their worst losses in the franchise history. Losing the past 12 years is woven deeply throughout the franchise. Even with adding so many winners this offseason and into the season, Joe doesn’t know whether the awful loss to the Saints will grab this team by its throat and pull it team down with them, or if the winners the Bucs added will prevent that from happening. Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians likes to say how he wants to see how his team’s character pulls them out of pinches after a loss. Joe is hoping to see the biggest and brightest coaching staff guide the team out of this two-game funk. Joe is not comfortable with this game whatsoever. Yeah, the Bucs need to respond. But despite a 3-6 record, Carolina is a scrappy bunch and new coach Matt Rhule is doing a lot with a little. They fight, they claw, they don’t quit. Last week the Stinking Panthers had the Super Bowl-champion Chiefs on the ropes but ran out of clock, missing a 67-yard game-winning field goal as time ran out. Simply put, the Chiefs couldn’t stop them. Sure, the Bucs catch a break that Christian McCaffrey will miss this game but Joe doesn’t believe that will matter a whole lot. For the Bucs to win they have to play smart and they have to at least threaten to run the ball a little. Not having Ali Marpet again won’t help matters. If the Bucs lose this game, Joe foresees this season spiraling out of control. Joe vividly remembers the Bucs, hours after beating the Saints to go 4-2 to start the 2011 season, traveling to London and getting stomped physically by the Bears and the season rapidly turning into chaos. Before you knew it, Raheem Morris was fired.
