Warren Sapp Says Shaq Barrett Is A Top-2 Edge Rusher In The NFL

Bucs legend Warren Sapp does not pull punches when it comes to examining the NFL or his beloved Buccaneers.
That’s Sapp’s style. Call it out — good, bad or in between.
So it intrigued Joe very much to hear Sapp recently online during media work he does for BetUS. Sapp was asked to pick his ideal defensive line if he were building a team right now.
No. 99 did not hesitate.
“That’s easy. I start it with Aaron Donald, match him up next door with Fletcher Cox inside. And I put Shaq [Barrett] on the left side, and I’ll give Myles [Garrett] his due. I’ll give Myles at the right end right now,” Sapp said.
Very impressive stuff for Shaq, who gets a chance to harass Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday. Hopefully, Shaq isn’t viewed that way around the NFL, or else he’s going to be demanding gargantuan money this offseason.
Shaq didn’t sack or hit Bridgewater in the Bucs’ Week 2 win against Carolina, but he did flush him from the pocket, which led to Antoine Winfield’s key strip-sack. (Video below)

Aaron Donald is a no brainer, Garrett has proven to be dominant too, Cox is debatable (I like Chris Jones but whatever) still a good choice. I’m just not sure Shaq belongs in that group. Sorry. If we’re playing some intergalactic football team from outer space and we need planets earth’s best men – is Shaq really the guy you go with? Ehhhhhh. It with Khalil Mack, Von Miller, TJ Watt, and the Bosa brothers out there

So why isn’t Shaq playing the majority of his snaps on the right side? Why in the name of Dog are we dropping JPP into coverage?
Shaq set the league on fire last year on the right and JPP did great on the left. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Why did they let these guys decide to switch.
Newsflash JPP, you’re not the same player you were before you blew your hand up. Let the better player play the premium position. You go play the Strahan role on the left.

The only good news is that Shaq will not be demanding a big contract after this season. No way does he belong in that group. He seems like a good dude and had a monster year last year, but he has been a big Meh this year. They should be able to sign him for 5-6 million per and use that money for either Suh or JPPs replacement if need be next year.

Anyone who thinks Shaq has regressed doesn’t know football. Stats are an unreliable stat for judging performance. Pressures are a much better indicator, and Shaq is balling out.

Thinking, unless they do something to raise, not lower, the cap, nobody is going to get big money contracts next year. Players better be thinking, “I have a job. Maybe I’d better just keep it.”

Wrong!!!! Players better be thinking i need to get as much as i can because the next play is not promise to me. Does the linebacker from pittsburgh ring a bell? He can barely walk with a walker and has ZERO shot at getting another contract. Im so tired of fans trying to tell athletes what type of money to take as if they are some customer service rep or plumbers or phamaceutical sales rep. Get over yourself.

Let’s not kid ourselves. He’s good, but not top 2. Not even top 5. Top 10 maybe, but MAYBE. Obviously better than him are: TJ Watt, Bud Dupree, Ngakoue, Myles Garrett, Mack, Za’Darius Smith, JPP, Chubb and Chandler Jones. Still a couple more names to be added there.
