Warrior Night For Jason Pierre-Paul

The all-22 film for the Bucs-Giants game isn’t out yet, but Joe couldn’t resist re-watching the game to study every Jason Pierre-Paul snap, all 70 of them.
JPP has had a unique season. In some games he’s looked like a guy playing hurt, absent his relentless style and struggling with second- and third-tier offensive linemen. In other games, he’s been a monster. And overall he’s saved his best work for the fourth quarters.
Coming off a no-stats game against the Raiders, JPP appeared reborn with an extra day off. He basically didn’t come off the field and was getting after it in the fourth quarter as the Giants upped the tempo.
JPP rushed inside, outside, pressured, ran rush games, shed blocks and he had a fourth-quarter sack of Daniel Jones that led to a Giants punt — sack No. 6 1/2 for the season.
Joe is such an admirer of what JPP has accomplished through 2 1/2 seasons. At this point, he represents one of the greatest trades in Bucs history, a coup for general manager Jason Licht for a third-round pick, ending the curse of Michael Bennett and erecting a building block for the Bucs’ quality pass rush that exists today.
Joe just hopes Bucco Bruce Arians can keep managing JPP’s health effectively. That’s another reason Sunday’s game against New Orleans is so critical. It would be huge for the Bucs to clinch the division early to get JPP a late-season break or (gasp) a first-round playoff bye. Hopefully, JPP didn’t burn too much gas last night on a short week.

What an outstanding game day player.
His ability to play 90 percent of the snaps is amazing for a player his size.

I’m convinced that some players just ‘enjoy the game’ so much that they’d actually pay to play (well, almost). Tom Brady is like that IMO, and that’s why he cut the Bucs such a team-friendly contract. Ndamukong Suh is like that IMO, and so is LVD. And yes, so is JPP, and Shaq too. Guys like that just love playing the game, work extra hard at their trade, and consistently give it their best. And it shows on the field.
Now if we can just keep all of our veterans healthy. Coaches seem to be doing a pretty good job of that thus far.

It kills me that the Bucs didn’t trade for Kwon and let the Saints get him. Sure, we don’t “need” an ILB, but if you had Kwon inside – that would give you the ability to move David outside and let him rush more, and give a rest to JPP or Shaq from time to time. Kwon is making basically nothing so salary, this year, was not an issue (although it goes to $14m next year, so it’s purely a rental situation). I’d have given up whatever the Saints paid for him – and you have to think Lynch let the Bucs know what was happening to try to get more trade value.

Lynch tried to “punish” the Bucs by “stealing” Kwon. Instead they outbid themselves, paid way too much ( obviously ) and cut their losses.

Kwon was overrated. The Bucs tend to be very LB friendly and it’s almost like he was a “system linebacker” here. Decent stats made some splash plays but wasn’t too impressive overall.

Call me nuts but this is a JPP thread and look at Joes pic of JPP and his left foot off the turf looks like a sharks mouth. JPP with his intensity, ability and want to he is like a shark when he smells blood and he is like a shark and is all business! 🙂

Kwon’s last year here in Tampa was very bad.
His two years with San Fran were bad as well

Plus he has never played in this 3-4 scheme so we would be anticipating a fit in a Bowles defensive style that he has not played in.
Giants drafted BJ Hill with that 3rd round pick who was a defensive end. They moved him to defensive tackle and he has been very solid for them but not a difference maker.

Agree on trade value. He’s relentless. He’s a great teammate and leader. I hope he chooses to go into coaching when done. He has a lot to offer.
Same with Suh. He has been one of the best additions in years. The mentality. The steadiness. The huge plays. The great leadership. He also should consider coaching.
This may very well be the best team in franchise history. Clearly, best QB. Best WRs. Best Defensive Line. Maybe 79 LBs and 2002 DBs were better. But top to bottom, this is a stellar group.

Rod, Kwon can’t stay healthy. Why would you want to pay for a guy that can’t even stay on the field. Not smart
