Is There A Trade Deadline Target?
November 3rd, 2020Joe sits in ecstasy as the clock sits three hours before the annual NFL trade deadline and the Bucs are 6-2 with a talented roster.
What a fun time to be a Bucs fan. Do the Bucs have any holes on offense? No.
What about on the NFL’s third-ranked defense? Well, Joe would love to see more depth at cornerback and at edge rusher. Yeah, they’re luxuries, but luxuries that NFL history says quickly can become necessities.
One name floated this afternoon on SiriusXM NFL Radio as a guy available is Washington edge rusher Ryan Kerrigan. The 32-year-old, four-time Pro Bowler is on the block along with much of the Washington roster, says longtime NFL insider Albert Breer.
Kerrigan has played about a third of the defensive snaps this season and has four sacks. The career sacks leader for Washington also spent years in a 3-4 defense before going to a 4-3 this season for head coach Ron Rivera.
Kerrigan would be due about $5.5 million from the Bucs, who appear to have about $5 million remining in cap room. But as is widely known, the great teams always seem to find cash when necessary.
Joe simply finds Kerrigan to be a very interesting potential fit. Maybe the Bucs are seeking more help at defensive tackle to shore up the Vita Vea loss? Joe has given up hope for a better backup quarterback.
The Bucs have shown they’ll do anything to win this season. So Joe is eager to see what this afternoon brings. Perhaps Tom Brady has another friend to hook up?

Bucs do not need anyone else. The NFL is thinking about expanding playoffs too 16 games because of covid 19 we are only one win away from playoffs Superbowl baby!
November 3rd, 2020 at 1:37 pm
The Washington Football team is not trading Kerrigan.
Wanna bet?
November 3rd, 2020 at 1:37 pm
I remember the Bucs showing interest in him before the 2011 draft…could be a nice addition. They lacked pass rush last night and it showed.
November 3rd, 2020 at 1:40 pm
They need a corner more IMO
November 3rd, 2020 at 1:44 pm
You guys know we need a depth CB badly.
This team is beyond screwed if any of them go down.
November 3rd, 2020 at 1:44 pm
Last night was very evident that we are still lacking in getting a consistent pass rush. I would have rather seen us grab Everton, but Kerrigan would be a nice addition for depth and situational pass rush. It doesn’t have to be him but we need a boost to the pass rush.

I am with Tampabucsbro. If we are going to spend on defense, prefer the corner depth. That position gets injured a lot and guys miss time.
Year in and year out corner backs miss more time than pass rushers.
November 3rd, 2020 at 1:49 pm
I’d float that boat if I was Licht. We need some better pass rushing to mask the secondary’s inadequacies. We need more consistent pressure
November 3rd, 2020 at 2:01 pm
Careful Bird. But I 100% agree with you.
November 3rd, 2020 at 2:01 pm
I’d love to see Kerrigan on the Bucs. I’d be very surprised if it happened, though.
November 3rd, 2020 at 2:02 pm
Ive been screaming for Kerrigan to the Bucs but i thought Washington wasnt going to trade him…
November 3rd, 2020 at 2:02 pm
Agree with Bird. A corner back is needed most. IMO.
November 3rd, 2020 at 2:05 pm
Agree Joe that pass rusher is our #1 need, and that we can find the money to make it work. What’s beginning to concern me though is that we’re filling our roster with too many guys who more than likely won’t be here next year.
Bucs have a relatively decent chance to make it to the SB this year. Remember, even if we do win the division, odds are we’d need to beat THREE more playoff teams just to make it to the SB (and yes, I know that getting the ONE 1st Rnd Bye could reduce that to TWO games, but I’m not holding my breath).
But we MAY have an even better chance of making it to the SB next year. Brady will still be here (yes, that’s an ASSUMPTION), so will Mike Evans & several of our current receivers, as well as RoJo. Our OLine should also be intact, as well as much of our defense & S/Ts. Plus we’ve kinda got ‘first right of refusal’ on contracts next year for Fournette, Godwin, Brown, Gronk, LVD, Shaq, Suh & several others.
What we’re NOT doing successfully this year is grooming their successors. That’s one of the key marks of a ‘dynasty’ IMO. I’ve watched Nick Saban do that at Bama for many years; once a game is ‘won’, his 2nd & 3rd string guys get lots of playing time rather than having the 1st team run up the score like some teams do. And when those 2nd & 3rd string guys become starters the next year or are needed to fill in for injuries, they’re ready.

Stephon Gilmore can probably be had, maybe offer a 2nd with a 6th round pick.
November 3rd, 2020 at 2:16 pm
All lives – would be amazing. Davis and Gilmore would be best tandem in league. Belichick is asking for a 1 AND a player with the patriots having all the leverage in the world and because of that I don’t think that can be negotiated down. Also a little thing about paying his contract as he is the highest paid CB in the league. Not sure how many more contracts we can restructure to free up money.
November 3rd, 2020 at 2:26 pm
How I wish. I don’t like seeing Anthony Nelson log so many snaps. This team looked vulnerable last night and it’s a copy cat league so everyone will start testing the middle of that front line. They had me sweating last night. If they play like that in another prime time game Sunday no way we beat the Saints even with AB

Quinnen Williams
November 3rd, 2020 at 2:46 pm
What up Doc? Can’t afford Williams
Go Bucs
November 3rd, 2020 at 2:54 pm
Looking at the GFS computer model and guess what it has sitting right directly on top of Tampa on Sunday night? A tropical storm…
The Eurotrash model shows it going out into the gulf before boomeranging back towards us, but it wouldn’t be until like Wednesday of next week if something came – but if the Eurotrash model is correct it would be a lot stronger.
Both models are calling for some complicated movement, which means it almost surely won’t happen. Also if it was just a lower tier tropical storm there is no reason you couldn’t play the game, just would have winds in the 30s with higher gusts – that would completely destroy Brees passing it more than 2 yards downfield, but would hurt Brady as well.
Just something to keep an eye on – we’ll see what future runs do, if it keeps putting it right on top of us or if it moves it, which is more likely.

And then Joe wrote . . .But as is widely known, the great teams always seem to find cash when necessary.
Joe is about to put us in the Great Team category. 2020 doesn’t totally suck!
November 3rd, 2020 at 3:21 pm
6-2 sounds so awesome at mid season…
never could do that with a buffoon at qb helping the other team..
though they still struggle in night games… Fix that and the Bucs become a scary team..
November 3rd, 2020 at 3:33 pm
I remember seeing a stat last night that Daniel’s has the second most interceptions since 2019, does that mean Winston still has the most and he hasn’t even played a down yet?
November 3rd, 2020 at 3:33 pm
I’d make a call to CLE & see what it’s take to get disgruntled TE David Njoku.
W/ OJ out…Double down on TE… It’s a natural TB12 security blanket & Njoku would love to get out of CLE – back to FL.
November 3rd, 2020 at 4:04 pm
Just sign Clay Matthews and don’t give up anything.
November 3rd, 2020 at 4:06 pm
Clay Mathews. No trade needed
November 3rd, 2020 at 4:57 pm
DefRules is logically correct, building a dynasty is not about throwing in all your cards this year.
However, having the GOAT does make signing high-quality veterans to 1-year contracts for the next few years who have never won a championship, just to have a chance to ride the carousel and grab a SB ring.
Hopefully during that time Rosen will be torn down and rebuilt under Arians and sitting behind TB, and can become the next starting QB in line after TB retires, but heck, that might be 2-3 years from now anyway, so I’m fine with wining a couple SBs until then.
But more important is this, let’s win one before we worry about repeating multiple times, eh?
November 3rd, 2020 at 6:13 pm
This team is solid. Play the long game. Keep your picks.
November 3rd, 2020 at 6:27 pm
Q Williams is on rookie deal. We would owe him half of his $4 mil yearly salary.
