Energy talk.
Was a rookie the only guy ready to play? What was seen on the field and comments from the man who sealed the win for the Bucs Monday night could imply just that.
Now after the Giants win, in which the Bucs were flat, zapped, lacking energy, disinterested (?), Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians, receiver Mike Evans and cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting all said the team lacked energy or were, well, flat.
Arians even joked (?) that when the Bucs buses rolled up to MetLife Stadium on a Monday night, Arians thought to himself, “Is the stadium really even open?” The reference was to the absence of fans due to New Jersey laws fighting The Sickness,
Players cannot rely on fans this year to get up for a game, Arians admitted yesterday. They have to bring their own juice.
So consider the words from safety Antoine Winfield, Jr. (with Antonio Brown on board, Joe must really careful with both of their first names) which appeared in a question-and-answer feature with Albert Breer of SI.com published Monday morning.
MMQB: A little extra juice for you in your first Monday night game?
Antoine Winfield: Oh, for sure, yeah. Prime time football, I’m always juiced up for that one, so yeah, I can’t wait.
And who made the game-saving play on a Giants two-point conversion attempt? Winfield, the man who brought the juice (and the play on the field, too).
Man, if a rookie is the only player, or one of just a few to bring steady energy, it’s time for Arians to bring in a shrink or find some tricks in order to get his players dialed in from the opening kickoff, fans or no fans. The Bucs have had a lot of slow starts.
If the Bucs have to pipe in DMX or Black Label Society in the locker room to get their heads right, then do so.

Its really on the offense……when you watch both units, the defense thrives off of the production/energy of the offense. When the offense sputters, the defense seems out of sync.
While on the subject of the secondary…..mark my words, Dean will be a liability on the long passes. Not sure what he does back there but he is routinely out of position, allowing his guy to get over the top. Teams are attacking him every game….luckily the throws have been off but that wont happen with Brees and Mahomes on the horizon.

I agree with Bobby. The defense is good, everyone knows that, but this team really lives and dies by the offense. Our two losses were both 100% on the offense, and both of the losses stemmed from overall offensive ineffectiveness. Even though we beat NYG, our offense struggled for 3 quarters and really didnt get dialed in until the 4th quarter. If we win the Super Bowl, it will be because of Brady, Evans, Godwin, and RoJo, not the defense.

There is no question that it was our offense that held us back vs the Giants & Bears…….we only scored 6 points in the second half of the Bears game and 6 in the first half vs the Giants.
Brady was clearly off target vs Giants……zero running game…..and the Rojo turnover.
On the Rojo turnover, he did a good job catching the very low throw from Brady that took him to the ground but didn’t secure the ball before he got up….thus the fumble…..but the entire play started with the low throw.
Nonetheless……..Brady turned it around for a victory…..something unlikely from our previous QB.

Blasphemy I say… Defense wins championships. Doesn’t matter what we score. Our defense must ride to the challenge. 02 Bucs for reference. Yes the offense needs to be better.

They had better have more juice for NO. All aspects of the Bucs game (except for the kicker) were below par on Monday. Even some of the GOAT’s passes were a tad off. Better study those tapes and get juiced to correct things.

Defense’s don’t win championships…
Points win in this era of the NFL. In this NFL you need a Defense that will make a few stops and a splash play from time to time with a turnover, dominant defenses in this league are rare nowadays.

Love watching the replay of that Winfield play. He makes a bee line to the spot without ever even looking back at the QB to see where the ball was going. That is 5 yr veteran, All-Pro type play. Not a rookie with 7 games in the NFL. Bucs really nailed it with this guy!!!

Just don’t call in Joboo! It was crazy you could tell Winfield’s assignment was the running back and he lost him for a second a and when he realized he was so out of position he sprinted over to cover him. If he had been looking for the ball he would’ve had a pick 6 to seal the game! Beautiful heads up play by him! I hope he gets a pick 6 this year!

offense and defense are fine….
offensively, as long as we take care of the ball and keep penalties to under 3per game we’re unstoppable…. lately our issues have been brady off early which leads to early 3&outs….
bucs are fine…relax…lets win the division sinday night!!

That was an incredibly hustle play by Winfield. Their guy was wide open and he shot across the field to get to him just in time. If Daniel Jones throws that a half second sooner and/or more on target, totally different outcome.
As for the defense and offense, they both looked asleep during the first half. Was not impressed by BL’s playcalling at all, after he had done a better job the previous few weeks.
Pretty much all the national talking heads were also ripping him yesterday for terrible playcalling: Running up the gut for nothing with Fournette on every 1st down. Almost no play action until the 2nd half. Makes no sense.

It was interesting. During the game Ryan Clark (former NFL Safety) tweeted out, ‘find whoever #35 is covering and throw it to him.’ That’s pretty telling for Dean to get put on blast like that but his play has been pretty disappointing, especially against the Giants.
