Fundamentals Are The Key
November 1st, 2020The Bucs were No. 1 against the run last year. They are repeating that this year.
The Bucs currently allow opposing running backs three yards a carry. That’s very strong.
For former NFL offensive lineman and current NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger, the reason is simple. Fundamentals.
One thing beaten into Joe’s head during high school football was gang-tackling. Unless some guy was in the open field, Joe’s team got chewed out if there wasn’t two guys bringing a ballcarrier down. It drove Joe’s coach nuts.
And gang-tackling will never go out of style, nor should it. It should be a trademark of good defenses.
The Bucs do that, Baldinger said, among other elements that are just damn good fundamental football.
So if you have wonder why the Bucs are playing so well on defense, it starts with fundamentals. Baldinger breaks down the Bucs defense in this video below.
.@nflnetwork @Buccaneers @nyjets #NFL DC, Todd Bowles, loves to shut down the running game. No one in the league is better than the #Bucs. All you teams getting “gashed” should watch #BucBall. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/HokQh0PW4w

Baldy is just so smooth. Love his ‘Christmas in October’ to describe McLendon coming to the Bucs.

Personally, I think the Bucs have a top 5 offense and defense. If they can stay healthy, the Bucs can win it all.

If they just play solid, they can beat the NYG. But if they think it is already in the win column, they will lose. This is a discipline game. Mental discipline.

BB’s enthusiasm and analysis is fun and educational for fans like me. I don’t know stuff like pad positioning. Bucs have a complete team for the first time. That is wonderful to follow for long time and long suffering fans.😊

With last years QB and many before that that would be a concern, with Brady at helm I highly doubt he will let the team get complacent.

How about a block in the back on Goulston?? …. The league is just not calling holding calls this year!! I have seen them in every game and the bucs would have at least 3-5 more sacks of they were not being held!! Vea, omg that dude was held on every play!!!

Agree with all the sentiment here about Baldy. I love his video breakdowns.
He not only obviously possesses the knowledge and experience…he has the joy of just another sports fan when he describes a lot of this stuff.
