Devin White Is A Grizzly

Derek Carr was so helpless Sunday against Devin White and the Bucs, he looked like a salmon about to be eaten by a grizzly.
That’s the picture Mike Tanier of Pro Football Network had watching White, the Bucs inside linebacker, mauling the Raiders quarterback.
White may have had his best game as a pro and was such a force, Tanier knighted White with his “Defender of the Week.”
Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Devin White recorded three sacks, including one where he swiped Derek Carr to the ground with one hand like a grizzly bear swatting a salmon, and another to halt Carr short of a first down on a critical fourth-down bootleg.
Now fellow inside linebacker Lavonte David didn’t have a huge game, but he did have eight tackles. Could it be Chucky was focused on taking David out so much that he totally forgot that White was damn near as dangerous and White went wild as a result?
Perhaps. But White is that good too.
If White can be that much of a beast in the pass rush (that’s what Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians predicted him to be), that just adds another scary dimension to an already powerful defense.

The Bucs unpredictable type of pass rushes/blitzes is paying off – big time. They have the speedy players (explosive, really) to handle this scheme. Keep it up!

For some reason I was waiting for an unnecessary ruffing flag to fly. That is just the kind of play the refs would pull it on.

Carr was far from helpless . He was an inch from the game tying TD pass when it was 24-17 —. Dean got a finger on it and Aguilar had both hands on it but Dean disrupted it just enough. Maybe that wouldn’t have been a TD but damn close. Carr played well. White was most definitely dominant but to call Carr helpless isn’t fair.

Wonder if that is the same play in thinking of where White just grabbed a guys forearm with one hand and pulled him down. Someone on PR board mentioned how strong his hands were and he’s absolutely right. Last couple weeks watched and once he gets a fistfull or jersey he’s not letting go and brings down guys with a full head of steam with arm tackles… When he didn’t even have jersey to grab but a forearm and did it I was amazed

he missed a huge tackle open field earlier. good to see him come back but that cant happen against the saints.

As awesome as he is doing against the run, and now with the blitz, he is still struggling a little against the pass. Two OAK touchdowns were thrown to his primary guy. They will try to isolate him in coverage and will beat him one-on-one until he picks up his game there.

Hahaha good description. That one handeded tackle(did he even get a hand or was it pure finger strength) was otherworldly. I literally had to rub my eyes. Didnt even believe what i just saw.
Was hoping that it was behind the line so he would get credit for a sack. Earned it 100%

DBS it was nice to see them let us play football.
It was the only way to make the play. If Carr was unwilling to take the hit he simply could have given up and went out…..then White could have halted. Both pkayers wanted it and did everything in their piwer to get it. Our player was stronger and won. Was a great no call.

Amazing hit, if you have nfl game pass the hit occurs at 24:30, listen to the Bucs screaming, white sounds like a wild animal after blasting Carr ! What energy and adrenaline he feeds off !

I thought he was more like a Hyena(37mph) because of his speed until I checked out the Grizzly
Grizzly bears have been clocked running up to 35 miles per hour. The top human speed ever recorded is 27.8 mph. Grizzly bears may look like lumbering giants but they’re surprisingly fast and agile. While their average walking pace is similar to that of humans, their top running speed is on par with lions.

Lightning fast….great run defender, natural leader, good teammate, but average zone defender…..sometimes he gets lost……If he can get better on that area he could be one of those who nobody will forget, specially Bucs fans….

IMO….White’s only weaknesses are in coverage and lack of experience. Time will develop both of those into a very polished LB.

Devin White is awesome against the run and now is blitzing. He still needs a lot of work on passing game. He was lost in coverage on several plays.

Revenge is a dish best served cold. Devin has had this game circled for a year. Raiders took underachieving Ferrell over White in the draft. I’m sure Gruden now regrets it…

Devin White is my favorite current player. My all-time favorites are Derrick Brooks and Hardy Nickerson. White isn’t there yet, but will be, I believe.
I saw where the Jets might trade Quinnen Williams. He’s got 3 sacks this year, on a team that’s always getting beat. Only 23 years old. Why they’d trade him, I have no idea. I guess because they’re the Jets.

I remember when White was drafted, Arians mentioned White could be used in a variety of ways including rushing the QB, i thought Arians was talking BS, well I was wrong. This kid is like a heat seeking missile, he covers so much ground its unbelievable.

I don’t think one of those sacks were from blitzing!! Those were all hustle sacks where he was in coverage and came down to make the play with his INCREDIBLE speed!!!!

Jmarkbuc: I think the Jets would want more than that, hahaha. But if Williams cost a 2021 1st Rounder, the Bucs would get their 1st Rounder THIS year. Williams runs a 4.83 40 at 305 pounds, more speed for the Bucs D.
