PO’ed Dean A Good Dean

October 23rd, 2020

Bucs CB Jamel Dean.

Half the Auburn cornerbacks for the Bucs said something last Sunday after the Bucs trampled the Packers that Joe hopes is consistent the rest of the season, including Sunday in Vegas (if the game is played).

The Bucs are scheduled to face Chucky and the Raiders. The results of today’s tests on Raiders players (remember, Vegas is on Pacific Daylight Time so it will be a few hours) likely will determine if the game is postponed.

Dean, after the Packers win, said he and his defensive teammates were a little ticked off that so many people were talking about Aaron Rodgers’ high-flying offense. Well, national folks who babble behind a microphone for a living like to talk about Derek Carr,

He’s Chucky’s quarterback (for the time being) and of course speed demon rookie receiver Henry Ruggs.

It was Ruggs who burned the Chiefs when the Raiders upset the Super Bowl champions earlier this season, and Joe suspects defensive coordinator Todd Bowles has discussed how to try to defend Ruggs. If there is a game.

Also Sunday, Dean mentioned the following that interested Joe. “If we play the defense and be disciplined, stuff like [the big Packers win] should happen often,” Dean said.

Joe loves to hear that. Let’s just hope players are as motivated to prevent Chucky from getting some twisted payback on getting run by Team Glazer.

(Joe likes Chucky but that Fired Football Coaches Association schtick Chucky was always flaunted rubbed Joe the wrong way. It was like flipping the finger to Team Glazer, like how dare they fire someone? Tom Landry got fired. So did Paul Brown. And Don Shula. And Bill Belicheat. Calm down Chucky. You’re no martyr.)

By the way, NFL Films did a nice piece on Dean and the Bucs from last Sunday. You can watch it below.

We have two long armed, hard tackling, sure handed CB!

Murphy Bunting should not start anymore.

Jamel Dean is a legit shut corner. Ronde predicted it.

    @coaches

Get him off of special teams! Hes too valuable to be a gunner!

  5. NOLES Says:

Anyone notice Anthony Nelson seems to be getting closer to sacks

Hope to continue to see improvement from him. He basically didn’t play last yr

  6. Joe in Michigan Says:

I miss the days of short, slow CB’s on the Bucs….10 to 12 yards off the ball…Not really.

  7. Doctor Stroud Says:

Yes, Rodgers was right: the kid made a good play! If feeling disrespected gets them motivated, I wonder then if the inverse might be true. This might be why past Bucs defenses have made the likes of Paxton Lynch, Case Keenum, and Derek Anderson look like All-Pro, Hall of Fame, All-World QBs. Don’t let up, guys!

Seems like Joe feels the same way about the FFCA that Paul feels about about Joe’s moniker for Tom Brady. Lol.

    Personally I find both amusing.

  9. Jason Says:

Ruggs scares me a little. Teams seem to have some success with the deep pass against us.

We are just getting started. Den of Depression my A$$!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!

  11. #1bucfan Says:

Joe in Michigan man I hated to see that and they did it so often with smittys D. Let’s play 15 yards off the ball so they can run slant routes and all sorts of short passes and move the ball like it’s nothing. That stuff drove me nuts. I won’t lie every time I see one of our DBs playing 10 yards off I get ptsd thinking like dammit here we go again lol

  12. 813bucboi Says:

smitty wouldve moved dean to SS with mj stewart and mike edwards starting at CB….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

I noticed. I also noticed they dont like to call holding this season. I guess you almost have to blitz now if you can’t get around em

Two Auburn corners against one Alabama speed demon back (Ruggs)?? Hmm.

Just like Ira I’ve been on the Dean bandwagon hard and thought he should be the starter. I’ve brought it up before but last year weird week that he didn’t play at all and the Bucs gave a stupid reason still makes me think the Bucs saw something that keeps him from starting. All this young talent continuing to grow makes the possibility of having a good D for a long time. Give Dean a starting roll I’ve SMB and let’s see how it goes! After that we may need a bad a$$ nick name for the D like legion of boom but only better.
