Bucs Embarrass Rodgers

October 19th, 2020

Bucs defense so good Sunday that NFL history was made?

This isn’t really directly aimed at the Bucs. Still, Joe found it both informational and downright funny.

It seems the Cheeseheads — at least one Packers beat stenographer — has had it with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Joe mentioned in an earlier story how the Packers are one of the most popular teams in the NFL. It’s why you see Cheeseheads in every NFL stadium when the Packers are on the road, especially throughout the Midwest and everywhere in the Sunbelt.

How popular are the Packers? Forbes magazine has a Packers beat writer. Forbes! A business magazine!

Rob Reischel of Forbes suggests Rodgers is a choke artist. And the way the Bucs suffocated and rattled Rodgers yesterday is proof positive that the sooner the Packers turn to rookie quarterback Jordan Love, the better in the long run it will be for the Packers.

Over the past decade, Rodgers has played in as many marquee games as almost any player in football. Far too often, though, Green Bay’s quarterback has shrunk like a frightened turtle. …

When these contests have arrived, the Packers have needed the highly-compensated Rodgers to play at a Hall of Fame level. Time and time again, though, he’s played like a third string journeyman.

The latest example came Sunday when Rodgers had a laughable quarterback rating of 35.4 and Tampa Bay routed the Packers, 38-10. Rodgers also threw two interceptions, no touchdowns, and completed just 45.7% of his passes.

Look, Joe enjoys watching Rodgers. He turned the back-shoulder fade pass into artwork. So Joe isn’t one to dance on his potential grave.

But how cool is it that the Bucs defense so thoroughly jostled, mocked and robbed Rodgers yesterday that the defense — in one reporter’s eyes — should be the final straw in the Packers benching him for a rookie?

This is just hilarious for Joe to read. Damn, if the Bucs defense can play so well the rest of the way that people are calling for quarterbacks’ heads on a silver platter, well, Joe believes the Bucs will be going places.

Pablo got embarrassed at bars for decades while he cheated on his beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pablo feels good to be on the other end of the stick for once!

  2. Jersey buc Says:

F Rodgers. I’ll dance all over his grave as I did yesterday. It was great watching his cocky ass getting bounced all over the grass than crying to Suh. With his stupid TD celebration

  3. Yehaw Says:

I am appalled that you are talking about the future Bucs QB this way Joe.

  4. DBS Says:

It is only because they were beaten tis badly by the Buccaneers. You know. The long known laughing stock of the NFL.

  5. Cannon Says:

This beat down cannot be overstated. The Bucs defense absolutely crushed a future Hall of Fame QB, who is still very much in his prime. Gave him one of the worst days in his storied career. Go Bucs.

  6. Tye Says:

It was great to see them smother “the great” Rogers…

the Bucs are not known for playing well during night games..
hopefully the Bucs will continue playing at that level Sunday night against the Raiders and not play like their last Thursday night game!

  7. Defense Rules Says:

Reischel … “the sooner the Packer turn to rookie quarterback Jordan Love, the better, in the long run, it will be for the Packers.”

What a buffoon. I’m with you Joe, this guy’s out to lunch. Aaron Rodgers is getting paid a bundle of money not because he’s good, but because he’s great. And like Tom Brady & many other great QBs like him, Rodgers isn’t universally loved. Hmmm, seems like a lot of folks have said that about Ndamukong Suh also, but guess what … I’ll take the big guy on our DLine any day of the week.

Same goes for Aaron Rodgers BTW. If the Pack decides to part ways with him after next year to give Love an opportunity to start, I wouldn’t have a problem in the world with the Bucs signing Rodgers then … for a reasonable price of course. He’ll be 37 in a couple months, so he’s probably got at least 3 years left if he wants it. It’s not like the Bucs have #1 draft picks loaded in our hip pockets waiting to be drafted & take over for Tom Brady.

  8. gotbbucs Says:

The front 7 hold the keys to this season.

  9. cmurda Says:

This guy is a joke. The future hall of famer is just fine. I guaranfreakingtee you that this is the first time all year this dude piped up about Rodgers. Aaron has been on an MVP tear this year until the Bucs handled him. It feels as though Rob Reischel has been just waiting to unleash his tirade and in the 6th game of the year, he finally got his opportunity. I won’t allow this nonsense to diminish the amazing performance by Tom Brady and the Bucs. The whole team including special teams was amazing. Brady would have had the stats to match the performance but there were a few drops.

  10. cmurda Says:

    @D Rules

    @gotbbucs

Agree with both of you. Spot on about the Front 7. We go as far as they take us. Devin White and LVD are making a beautiful team in the LB corps.

  11. Leighroy Says:

I thought maybe Ndog was moonlighting for Forbes, but noticed Rob Reischel didn’t call for the packers to make a trade and replace Rodgers with JW3.

So there goes that theory, but otherwise the resemblance is uncanny….

  12. ClodHopper Says:

You can’t swing a dead cat in eastern Iowa without hitting a packer fan.

This guy needs to step away from the ledge. Likability doesn’t have anything to do with talent tho. If it did then Cam would be…. oops. Bad analogy!!

  13. HeyItsAdam Says:

It was the same response in 97 when Sapp knocked Steve Young and Jerry Rice out of game 1.

  14. SlyPirate541 Says:

Don’t hate on Rogers. He’s a Bucs QB candidate after Brady retires.

  15. Lamarcus Says:

Rogers is mentally weak and proved yesterday. Player of the game was Suh. Suh knew how to get into that head and it worked.

  16. stpetebucsfan Says:

Rodgers was fine yesterday. Sadly fans and writers of virtually all teams have great difficulty in simply admitting the other team played very well. It’s always the loser that sucks never the winner that excels.

That was front and center yesterday. The first quarter was frustrating! Even when the Bucs played well Rodgers made a play…3rd and forever and Rodgers completes an 18 yarder from deep in his own territory on one scoring drive and made a couple of really great plays on another. He was playing like an All Pro and getting props from Aikman…then the pick six.

That toss resembled two that Brady has thrown this year and passes like JW tossed every other game throughout his career. Everybody can make a mistake.

It seemed to me the Buc D was OK the first quarter but Rodgers played superbly. Then the Bucs just took him out of the game physically…shutting down the run and living in the backfield with Rodgers.

Rodgers did not suck…the Bucs played very, very, very well!!! Just as in the first quarter the Bucs did not suck…Rodgers played very, very well.

  17. chris L Says:

next HOF QB to be exposed in “Tom’s House”? Brees

  18. Darin Says:

No Rob!! Rodgers did throw a TD!!

  19. 813bucboi Says:

    lamarcus

we did to rodgers what defenses did to us last year….

shut down the run game, pressure the QB into mistakes and catch the INTs…..ball game….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Can anyone tell if the Packer fans were able to get tickets yesterday?……did they have a good showing like they usually do or did Buc fans dominate?

No Rob!! Rodgers did throw a TD!!

LOL he did. To Jamel Dean.

Just like JW2 had 7 TDs last yr that werent counted. 🙂

  22. mike peets Says:

Rob Resichel knows nothing about football to have made that statement.

  23. Aceofaerospace Says:

Do you think he regretted that stupid TD pose, you know, when the packers were running up the score?

  24. orlbucfan Says:

Sapp was famous for being a SOB around fans off field. Leroy Selmon was the exact opposite: a class act. Both were tremendous defensive stars. So what if Rodgers is arrogant? He’s a future HOFamer. Forbes mag loves the Pack cos they are the only NFL franchise owned by their fans. A very successful one, too. Not too shabby for a medium sized market.

  25. Astrobuc Says:

Good call Ace, that stupid hip thrust and their RB with the macho man shades on after they went up 10-0 strutting up and down the sidelines. Was so happy we curb stomped them after that.

  26. Cannon Says:

I think stpetebucsfan summed it up.

That first quarter was frustrating. The Bucs were manning up on the corners, and the front 7 was getting great penetration, but Rogers kept making plays while scrambling (often throwing to his outlet behind the linebackers).

Then, the magic ran out, and those quick decisions on the run started having consequences (interceptions).

That slowed Aaron down. Made him hold onto the ball a bit more.

Then, it was QB hit after QB hit.

    …and it was beautiful.

  27. David Says:

It was fun watching overrated Aaron Rodgers get absolutely rattled.
As soon as he got hit a few times and threw some ints, he was hearing footsteps and making bad throws even when the pocket was clean.

I get that he’s an awesome talent and will go in to the Hall of Fame and he has a Super Bowl win, But they talk about him in the same breath as Brady and Manning and to me it’s not close. If everything doesn’t go perfect, he has always panicked a little or he holds the ball too long and gets inaccurate.
    16-35 : 160 yds : 2 INT : 0 TD

Plus they couldn’t run the ball

    Absolute beat down!!!

  28. David Says:

This defense is getting better and better. A couple lapses here and there in the backend but as long as they keep getting pressure and stop at the run, it’s going to be great. It’s giving the offense more and more time to get healthy and in sync

  29. Buc50 Says:

I’m beginning to worry about Todd Bowles future with the Bucs. He certainly deserves another shot as a HC but I would rather it be here.

  30. SB Says:

I am thinking that is the plan Buc50

  31. CalBucsFan Says:

I’m with you Buc50, sure hope the Bucs/Licht/Ariens should have an agreement in place that Bowles will become the next HC once Ariens wins a SB.

  32. D-Rome Says:

I’m a fan of watching Rodgers play so I watch the Packers every time they are on local TV. I have never seen him perform so poorly in his career.

  33. adam from ny Says:

    bowles is the man…

and he always wears decent bucs gear…

he understands that pewter is the color to rock…not red…

if the bucs win the superbowl this year, do arians and brady just walk away???

    i hope not

  34. Aceofaerospace Says:

I love the fact we are discussing possibly losing our coordinators to head coaching jobs after 7 games. That only means one thing. Winning.

  35. Rod Munch Says:

    Rodgers @Tampa… 1-3 record, 5 TDs, 8 INTs, 2 pick 6’s

Said it 2 weeks ago, the Bucs ALWAYS lose @Chicago, just like the Bucs ALWAYS beat the Packers at home. The order of the world hasn’t changed.

*Always doesn’t literally mean always, but it’s pretty close.

  36. Rod Munch Says:

adam from ny Says – If the Bucs win the SB I don’t care what happens after that, it would mean 2 Bucs championships in my lifetime, and for the most losing franchise in all of American sports, that would be amazing. Would also make wearing my orange Bucs gear to school every Monday, win or lose, mean more.

Anywho they’re 4-2, talking Super Bowl is a wee bit early.

But the Lightning won, the Rays are in the WS, and if the Bucs made it to the SB, really there’s nowhere else for Tampa sports fans to go but down.

  37. Stanglassman Says:

This happens to all Qbs. Remember last year Jameis had a stinker like this in London.

  38. Buczilla Says:

I only care about the Bucs and could care less about Rogers on a football level, but this Forbes dude is goofy. There are a lot of teams that would kill to have Rogers. 3 pick 6’s ever is pretty damn impressive and he’s a first ballot ball of famer. Forbes guy, stick to business man.
