Fear The Bucs
October 5th, 2020Park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is heating up.
And NFL teams better be wearing Depends.
Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports thinks the Bucs offense is slowly but surely turning into a very, very scary outfit. Jones notes each week Brady is getting better and his receiving corps is hardly at full strength.
This, Jones believes, should scare the hell out of the NFC South and all Bucs opponents.
Brady has 11 touchdown passes to four interceptions this season after throwing five touchdown passes Sunday, and he may never figure out that out pass to Justin Watson, that Sunday was intercepted and housed for a pick-six for the second time this year. (Later he would say that comes down to execution, but I cannot imagine he’ll be throwing that pass to that receiver in the remainder of a spooky season.) Any questions about his arm strength—which were ridiculous to begin with and asked only by people who haven’t closely watched him the last two years—were quieted when he launched his longest completed pass in the air for 52.6 yards Sunday.
After a seven-catch, 122-yard showing from Evans, we can definitively say Brady and his top receiver have found their groove. That comes a week after Brady and Rob Gronkowski rewound the clock. And everyone in Tampa is happy.
Opponents should fear that the Buccaneers just treated the first quarter of the regular season like preseason. If so, they’ll just keep getting better, and then we’ll all feel comfortable calling them a Super Bowl contender.
It really stinks that O.J. Howard was lost for the season yesterday because he was just heating up. Then again, this is Howard’s sad track record. He’s only played one season where he didn’t finish on injured reserve.
Between Evans, Chris Godwin and Brady’s new BFF, Scotty Miller, this could be a downright frightening offense if what Jones suggests is true, that Brady is still working out the kinks in his timing.
"If I'm the NFC, I'm scared to death of what I saw out of Tampa Bay yesterday, because Brady looks incredible!"

enuff said, I was right last season when I was verily against Jameis Winston coming back as our QB. He proved, although he had the arm talent, he was to dumb to be a consistent winner without everything being perfect around him. We should of jettisoned his butt before his 5th season. It’s funny when we were down by 17 points I never felt like we were going to lose when you have Tom frickin’ Brady as your QB. Not like I did when JW was QB. I always felt like we were gonna lose.

we have never had a team leader like this…
things are different in bucland now…
tom should get into politics someday and run for president at like 60 years old…
he is better than the 2 ragamuffins trying to win the election anyway

the throw to oj in the endzone goes down as 28 yards in the books…
but watch the play again…
from where tom releases the ball after his drop back, to where oj catches the ball is 41 yards…
he effortlessly threw a 41 yard dime…
watch it, he doesn’t heave it or anything…it was effortless…
dude can still toss up bombs like herbert did today on that 55 or 60 yard throw

Best of luck to Howard. Brate will be a solid replacement. All is good going forward.
Go Bucs!!!
October 5th, 2020 at 6:05 am
With Howard out maybe Brady will learn he can depend on Brate to catch the ball.

OJ may have just played his last game for the Bucs. May be able to get a 3rd or 4th round pick if we trade him before the draft.
October 5th, 2020 at 6:29 am
oh you watch…
cam brate is gonna be stacking stats from here on out…
it was all in the cards for cam to shine and now it’s gonna happen…
maybe even tanner hudson can be a sleeper as a te/wr type…
we might have no godwin, no evans, and no howard vs chicago…
and that’s crazy…
watson seems a bit limited, as in what you see is all you’re ever gonna get…he’s prolly at his ceiling …
mickens…just not feeling him…we need a better return man…
and where the f is tyler johnson?…
also vaughn looks much smoother than rojo as a receiver, and much quicker, with burst, than mccoy out of the backfield…
i swear you can prolly cut mccoy and plug in vaughn and we’re good…
not saying to do that – just saying i wouldn’t be at all shocked if it happened…bruce will prolly let him fin out the season tho

I wouldn’t miss OJ at all. He’s been MIA since drafted. He’s not a consistent play maker. He’s passive, timid, and afraid of contact. He actually was saved by the officials yesterday after he made a bone head play that was really a fumble. He also dropped a pass yesterday that should’ve been caught. Look, at Alabama, many of his big plays were in the open field with minimum contact and or great blocking from his team mates, which made him look like an all star. Whenever there’s contact with him, he either juggle, miss, or drop the pass. This guy is not the big time player people think he is. Yes he made a good catch last week and caught a td yesterday but he’s not consistent. If those who think he’s this big time playmaker, watch him during crunch time and he does nothing, especially when defenders start bringing the hammer with pressure. I’ll take the Giants tightend Evan Ingram over OJ any day.

We can play action now and should use it more….the TD pass to Scotty was play action on 1st down……keep doing it.

Well, if we wanted to sign OJ going forward, he won’t be able to ask for a fortune or he’ll end up like Jaymiss!

Ndog
These are awesome posts from ndog. I really mean that. He is so upset bucs winning under brady He is crying tears of sadness not joy
First he said the only reason Bucs winning was brady is Lucky
Now he is claiming the bucs Under brady can only beat bad Teams
This is hilarious. Yah cause jameis lost to so many backup qb/ crap teams over the last several years 😂
But remember Before …the excuse for jameis…it was the defense and missed kicks
Brady had pick six / poor defense / missed kick but brady won. 5 tds

O.j. was just now moving into being his best self. It’s a shame he went down like that. It’s hard to get to this level of play and we talk about it like it’s some easy thing to do. That comes from never playing a down of football yourself. We can only hope this young man can return from this awful injury.

Jean…the irony in what you wrote was not lost on me. Calling people out for being dumb. It’s TOO not TO and COULD HAVE not COULD OF. Yes, I’m the grammar police, something I’ll happily claim if you’re trying to be the Stupidity Police. Your points may be 100% correct but your message was 100% ironic.

Read in an earlier thread where Joe “dogged” Arians for stating that if this was last year we’d have lost by 20 points (not exact quote). Of course Joe seemed to think Arians was talking about Winston instead of being a statement in general and went on a tirade. However Joe overlooks a rather telling fact. When several players were interviewed after the game they were asked about being worried when they were down by so many points. To a man they said that they weren’t worried because they knew they had the goat. That, Joe, is the confidence the offense “and” the defense has in Brady! I guarantee you that you would never have heard that confidence from any player last year. When we were down in points last year (mostly because of the INTS) the whole team seamed to give up. So Arians may have been talking about the whole team, not just your favorite ex-QB.

So, the Bucs defense is under the radar, yet again. Good. They are all healthy, and the youngsters will continue to mature and improve.
