“More And More Moves”
October 2nd, 2020If you listen closely to all the power players at One Buc Palace, including Rob Gronkowski, Shaq Barrett isn’t the player he was last year.
He’s better.
It’s hard for Joe to wrap his head around that concept after Shaq shocked the NFL world and racked up 19 1/2 sacks last season, shattering the Bucs’ franchise record.
Bucco Bruce Arians quickly noted on SiriusXM NFL Radio this week that Shaq is evolving into a more dominant force, when asked about why Shaq broke out in Denver.
“More and more moves,” Arians said of Shaq’s pass rushing arsenal, noting Shaq was impactful in Weeks 1 and 2 without getting sacks.
And that brings Joe to Sunday and the injured and porous Chargers offensive line. They pass block terribly and likely will be playing from behind in the game.
A razor sharp and dominating Shaq would a hell of a sight. If the Week 3 NFC Defensive Player of the Week can keep pouring it on and put up more numbers, he could end up on pace for another huge season.
What a Lotto ticket Shaq will cash after this season if he not only puts up stats, but shows on film that he’s more dangerous than in 2019.

I hope we come after the Chargers the same way we would the Saints. This team needs to accomplish 3-1 to start the season. They need to beat teams they are supposed to…..in the way they are supposed to. I dont want to just muster another ugly win, I’m hoping we start seeing some solid consistency in execution.

GO BUCS!!!!

I’ll take an ugly win, but it would be nice to win in a dominant fashion with all elements of our team playing a complete game.

Cannon agreed we need to play a complete game from start to finish and all 3 units need to do the same.

813bucboi … I agree totally that ‘a win is a win’ (even if it’s an ugly win), but truly great teams improve week after week after week during the season. CONSISTENCY IMO is really just a progression of continuing improvements, not just in the players but also in the coaches. Thankfully we’ve seen that in these first 3 weeks; just needs to continue despite injuries to some key players.
My mind is already thinking playoffs with this team (weird since we haven’t even sniffed the playoffs since 2007). But going deep in the playoffs requires a whole different mindset IMO than just having a winning season. Every game in the playoffs is against the big boys, and sloppy play earns you a ticket home real fast, regardless of what you regular season record was (ask last year’s 14-2 Ravens’ team … 3 TOs sank the birds in Round 1). Still, I’m hopeful that this is our year.

is it bad that i dont want shaq to have a super heavy stats year, so hes a little cheaper to sign to a long term deal? lol

Taking a 3-1 record into Chicago would be a helluva way to start the season.

A real test for this team will be when we play against winning teams like Chicago, Green Bay, KC and Seattle. If we can 3 out of 4 of those games then we deserve to go to the super bowel. However, IMO we are not there yet and I don’t see us keeping up with these teams. GREEN bay, kC and Seattle are playing some of the best football I have seen this season. I pray the football gods shine on us and turn our beloved football team into the most feared
Team in the NFL. Hey a fan can dream.

Army but maybe we dont gotta keep up with those teams. Maybe our defense is just whats needed to slow them teams down. Im not betting against us and cant wait to see how those matchups play out.
GO BUCS!!!

He for sure has a gut

With no offseason this year, it is good that the Bucs catch a brake with this psuedo- preseaon they are playing in for the first 4 games. Season starts in Shytown on thursday night. They will continue to get better week by week, and then a deep run in the playoffs. GO BUCS!!!!

He’s a rare “looks like Jane, plays like Tarzan”. Soft looking body, but man does he ball out! Love Shaq

@Army yeah those 3 all look great.
I’m really only focused on our NFC opponents right now and without question, Seattle and Green Bay are the 2 teams to beat. They both look like incredibly tough opponents.
I think we’re up for the challenge though, even if we don’t beat Green Bay in week 6. The key, imo, will be whether we’ve gotten the penalties in check yet or not.

sapp always had the gut and played like a beast…
shaq also has this very odd linebacker gut…
which no linebacker in the entire league has…
it’s quite odd…
but he plays big time and get it done like no other…
do bellies and beasting go hand in hand?…maybe so 🙂
