Arians: Expect More Maximum Gronk

September 30th, 2020

To the surprise of many, Rob Gronkowski not only led the Bucs in receptions on Sunday, he played 93 percent of the snaps against the bungling Broncos.

Joe asked Bucco Bruce Arians about that today.

JoeBucsFan.com – Rob Gronkowski nearly played every snap Sunday. Physically, how did he come out of the game and do you think he drew any new confidence from all that playing time?

Bruce Arians: Yeah, it was one of those games we had planned it. He looks great, no wear for tear. He had a great practice just now, so yeah, we’ll see how it goes. But I wouldn’t see in this game it being much different.

How exciting is this?

Gronk played well, logged a bunch of time and feels and looks great. Joe is loving this. Joe hopes the Bucs keep riding Gronk. Saving him sounds nice, but riding him to a 4-1 record sounds a lot better.

Stay healthy, Gronk!

Right on Joe, Itotally agree, saving him sounds nice but 4-1 is definately better! There has been so many fewer reps this whole offseason, the work is needed. Put the foot on the gas pedal and go!!! GO BUCS!!!

  2. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

I was not and am not surprised by this. He blocked at an elite level and is a receiving weapon we can’t ignore forever. Zero problem with phasing him in and using him when and as needed.

  3. Smashsquatch Says:

    Gronk runs WITH the Squatch!

  4. BRock Says:

Maybe he plays better in cool weather, like NE?

  5. SB Says:

    Completion % is up 5%
Completion % of throws of over 20 air yards is up 5%
Redzone success % is up 57% through the first three games
About the only thing that isn’t up is INT%!!!

Man I am LOVING this downgrade at QB!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Buccfan37 Says:

Gronk did show a uplifting pick up in his step in the last game which was surprising to me.

  7. ModHairKen Says:

A week ago, the geniuses pronounced him a cadaver.

  8. SB Says:

At this time last yr our QB had thrown 5 TDs to our team and 2 to the opposing team. That is a net of 3 TDs coupled with 5 INTs

    Again……Loving the downgrade!

  9. SlyPirate541 Says:

Gronk should have had that long TD pass, too. Brady just overthrew the ball. That was a heartbreaker.

  10. Coburn Says:

Eh we can let him rest a bit more when Godwin and Miller both full go

  11. Brad Says:

Save him after the bye week when Godwin comes back. If you want to save him, split him out wide a bit. Let him match up on a little CB.

  12. Brad Says:

I meant Thursday game not bye

    SB

Yeah man, this downgrade is great.
    😀

    SB

    rattle that mutts cage!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  15. 813bucboi Says:

and according to realist, the coaching staff is a downgrade too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!!

  16. JimmyJack Says:

SB nice stats but to be fair our redzone percentage went way up after Byron got some time to learn the team and the players. Im certain if you look at the back half of our season last year the redzone % was much improved.

Still, I dont think it is as good as it is right now. Im sure Im missing one or two but it feels like we are 100% getting TDs in the redzone.

  17. Ftmyersbuc Says:

SB, you’re going to give npup an aneurism. Cruelty to animals!!!!

All the people saying jameis is gonna beat us twice a year for years to come are in for a shocker… the saints live off the behind the LOS passing game and for whatever reason winstons screens and short throws were always so awkward and difficult for him. His biggest weakness for sure. I cant wait for him to be thier starter, Bucs CB’s gonna have free lunch for years.

  18. Show Me the TDs Says:

Is Brate even on the team any more? The guy is talented. What gives?

  19. m0j0 Says:

Gronk definitely is rounding into form. Keep feeding him and forcing teams to defend the seams. That will open things up for Evans and Miller.

  20. Joe in Michigan Says:

Brate is an insurance policy at TE. Both Gronk and OJ Howard have had their share of injuries over the years. So, NO, the Bucs shouldn’t trade or cut Brate. They wouldn’t get much in a trade, anyway.

  21. adam from ny Says:

what are the chances gronk pulls a hammy on his 3rd leg… 🙂

    #ThirdLegHammyIssues

  22. adam from ny Says:

    regarding brate:

arians believes all covid stricken players should not play…

thus they won’t breath hard and any festering covid won’t be breathalyzed all over their teammates…

think of all bucs who contracted covid already…and how many get to play…think about it…

  23. TomBradyTheHomeInvader Says:

stop comparing brady to winston. according to next gen stats. brady is not running the same 7 step drop and fire away offense that winston ran in 2019. Our offense right now is closer to the 2018 and 2019 pats

  24. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete Says:

    Gronk looks like Gronk again…

Next level of reintegration is that 30-yd seam right route right down the middle with a LB and a Safety hanging all over him as he outmuscles them for the ball…

I wanna see that, starting Sunday! Defenses heads will be spinning after that point

  25. 74 Bucs fan Says:

SB and 813 blasting away – love it!

  26. SB Says:

    @74………:)

  27. Miller5252 Says:

Now if they can get Vita close to the same level we’ll be loving life.

  28. WhoCares Says:

The silve lining here to me is that the nest QB in Bucs history brought in perhaps the best TE in NFL history.

You cant do that by sucking like our last QB literally did to motivate his team.

Just saying, our current QB, who is the greatest to ever play in Tampa, he aint no SUCKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ONLY THE REAL FANS…….. DOPE!!!!!!!!!!

  29. WhoCares Says:

    *BEST* QB in Bucs history.

Only correcting this for the Sofa King We Taught It Trolls.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

Trade Brate for someone’s NFL proven #4 WR – those players are out there. Brate isn’t being used and isn’t going to be used, additionally I think Tanner Hudson is the same layer was Brate, so take the cheaper option since they’re not going to be used anyways.

  31. Buc1987 Says:

adam from ny…You would not believe how much of Florida is opened up compared to NY.

    I applaud our governor.

  32. Joe in Michigan Says:

Rod Munch: You want to trade Brate for a “proven” player? Brate is proven, Hudson isn’t. Brate could be the Bucs Perriman-type player of 2020 (someone the Bucs need because of injuries).

  33. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

    @Buc1987

I too applaud your governor. The freedom to be able to make your own decision on whether to resume a normal life (or stay in lockdown should you chose that lifestyle or feel you are in a higher risk group) is something none of you living in Florida should take for granted. But I’m sure I’ll get blasted by the “over 200,000 dead!” usual suspects here. As bad as that number sounds in a headline it means roughly 0.06% of the USA population have died testing positive, and when you break the data down further you see just how disproportionate that 0.06% is focused in the elderly (who typically have other health conditions). What any of this has to do with football, nothing really. I’m just in envy of Florida I guess…my favorite football team plays there (Tampa!), your taxes are lower than where I live, your weather is nicer, and your Governor is better. Maybe I need to move South? 🙂
