Nearing Sack History

September 28th, 2020

Stacking sacks.

Bucs outside linebacker/pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul continues to be a force. So much so he may tie a franchise record against the Chargers.

With a sack yesterday against the Broncos, JPP now has five straight games with a sack. He currently shares the Bucs’ franchise record with Simeon Rice for most consecutive games with a sack at six.

A sack against the Chargers and JPP will tie the record. Again. He last did it in 2018, his first year with the Bucs.

Overall, yesterday the Bucs had six sacks and two picks. That was the first time the Bucs had that many sacks and picks in a game since Nov. 27, 2016, when the Bucs hosted Seattle.

The Bucs were rude hosts to Russell Wilson that day, also putting him on the ground with six sacks and intercepting Wilson twice in a Bucs upset at the Den of Depression. After that game, Warren Sapp said he had never seen a Bucs defense choke a QB like the Bucs did.

    JPP!

    JPP makes this defense go!

Him coming back mid season last year was the point when things began turning around and they started playing consistently.

We also happened to finally get rid of the short, slow and weak scrub cornerback known as VH3 at the same time, replacing him with corners who could actually cover.

  3. Coburn Says:

As much as I love JPP and hope he can do it year after year we need to draft a good defensive end next year… Maybe even take a second layer in draft. Dude has held up well but can’t expect him to keep it up forever and not much behind him and Barrett

  4. SlyPirate541 Says:

6 would be great but I’m hoping he has 16 straight games with a sack.

Remember when the trolls screamed “cut him, he’s done” after his accident? Good times!

  7. FirstTimePoster Says:

Why did the Giants let him go again? He’s clearly not done. Morons.

  8. Chesapeake Bay Bucco Says:

Where is UnRealisto today? Did he get a job and have something better to do than bash everything Bucs, then say Go Bucs, as a slap in the face?

  9. Bobby M. Says:

JPP is the dog our defense needed.

  10. Buczilla Says:

  11. Buc Bro Says:

Always thought JPP was a DLineman. OLB? I learned something new. Bucs have to look at drafting replacements for him and Suh next season. They aren’t young pups. I have faith in Bowles and Licht. Go Mighty Bucs Defense Sunday!!!!!!!!1 🙂

The Defense is blasting & feasting!!!

    Keep it up!!!

    Go Bucs!

Is this the best passrushing team we have ever had? A bit to early to say that just yet but we do seem to be on a historic pace.

A huge difference this year from last is our blitz packages. Obvisously Winfield but also White…….White has made massive strides as a blitzer. No sacks yet but he has created lots of havoc.

  15. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

As far as the best passrushing team, the eye test tells me they’re sending 7 guys to do what 4-5 were asked to do (and did) back in the day. I like the result, and I ain’t complaining.

  16. Ivan The Insider Says:

Bowles is very hard to plan for.

He’s so aggressive with blitz packages the opposing team never knows when a blitz is coming, so they have to almost prepare that every down is going to be a blitz. This usually keeps RBs in the backfield to block rather than having them go out for passes.

This all works in our favor that we are very effective at the blitz.

    @BradentuckyBuc-

    I ‘member.

  18. geno711 Says:

    JPP is a freak athlete.
I remember the last game last year against Atlanta.

He was laying on his back on the ground after one of his two sacks that game.

From his back, he flipped up off the ground onto his feet. He is 6′ 5″ and 270lbs and did that in the freaking last game of the year.

Some day he may seem old. Right now, he is just a physical freak. Go look him up on the internet and see the crazy back flips he can do.

  19. WyomingBucsFan Says:

The Bucs have had the best tandem of pass rushers in the NFL this year and LAST year.

  20. BillyBucFan Says:

Ummmmm your logic in the article doesn’t hold water.
Does he have 5 or 6?

    Come on man.

    Slow down with the articles!!!!!!!

  21. BillyBucFan Says:

IF he gets six he ties.

LOL. Get this–because they were transitioning from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense, and didn’t think he would be a good fit. Morons!

  25. Cannon Says:

Rumor has it the Bowles called a blitz when the team was exiting their plane…

    I love JPP! He’s a f’ing Dog!!
