Rondé Barber: “I Can’t Tell You How Confused They Are”

September 16th, 2020

Nothing goes wrong when Rondé Barber breaks down Buccaneers film.

Joe’s being sarcastic referring to Barber’s positive weekly Xs and Os analysis for the Buccaneers’ official website.

This week’s session is below, and Barber serves up a great look at the Buccaneers’ three-tight-end look that led to a ridiculously easy O.J. Howard touchdown. The Saints didn’t know who to cover (every Bucs fan’s scenario dream last week) and Barber said of the Saints defense, ” I can’t tell you how confused they are.”

Joe hopes the Bucs can do more of what Barber highlights on that play. And yes, it’s Tristan Wirfs on the final pass block there that ensures the easy throw for Tom Brady.

I thought Ronde was talking about the Bucs secondary.

and folks think BL is the problem….lol….

folks will say brady brought that play from NE…..lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  3. Cometowin2 Says:

If Tristan keeps improving and Donovan Smith does not improve from Sunday, we will be cutting Smith next year, Tristan will move to left tackle and pickup another first round tackle. Donovan is incredibly reliable which is critical but he has to play much better.

  4. HC Says:

On the Bucs first drive they were so confused it confused the Saint defense. Maybe confusion works. I sure hope so. I was confused they kept runnin left all the time.

JOe a little more patience would be nice.

…If we keep on like this on next games I will agree with you, but not now on the first game against one of the best teams..

i really hate moving players around….lol…but we may have no other choice….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  7. Roy T. Buford Says:

It was a great play, and we’ll see variations of it again. Hopefully BL is not so foolish as to use it in a clutch situation so soon, as CAR will be watching for it.

  8. Owlykat Says:

Cometown2, D. Smith has been a lazy turnstyle LT his whole 5 years here. We had a clueless OL Coach named Warhop who called him one of the best Left Tackles in the NFL or he would have been traded or cut years ago. He couldn’t even block a backup DE Sunday and got Brady crunched and also could not run block for our RB and let him get tackled way behind the line of scrimmage. BA criticized him but took no action to replace him so we now have to face the chance he will get Brady injured this season. Brady is not mobile at all! BA needs to move Wirfs to LT now and seat Smith on the bench as a backup OG or trade him now. Haeg can hold his own at RT. Leaving him at LT and hoping he improves when he hasn’t changed one iota in five years is a terrible mistake!

  9. JimbobBucsFan Says:

The Bucs are fielding complicated schemes on both offense and defense. What they will get when the team catches up in execution is championship cailber play.

For example for the sideline pass to Godwin note who ends up protecting Brady on his blind side, Gronk, Smith and Jensen. Note where Marpet ends up. Cappa helps out Wirfs.

These things move to fast in live action to be able to see them all on the TV screen.

    Thanks for the glimpse.

  10. The Graham Tram Says:

I’m pretty sure that first play is what Becht said was a tell-tale give away that we’re running the ball… Godwin going in motion to the inside. Maybe it’s harder to run the ball when the safety comes down, but maybe its a net benefit in the passing game

  11. SlyPirate541 Says:

I don’t know why we don’t stay in 2-3TE sets the entire game. Run, pass, screen … it’s all on the table.

  12. Will Says:

But can we get some film on how terrible the special teams are? That coach should be gone. I can’t remember the Bucs ever having great ST play. Can we just be average though. It’s crazy how our punt returner can only fair catch and theirs averages 14yds a return. Not to mention that we continued to kick to him the entire game.

Just a few bad plays by the defense but they were costly. Carlton Davis I believe is good for 1-2 penalties a week but is becoming a good corner and will be our shut down corner that we need.
Donovan Smith was who the fans thought he was. But but he’s never missed a game. I’m not one that believes you’ve gotta play angry but maybe he should try it. Brady gonna lay into him if he plays like that again.

Sly-I don’t know why we don’t use our TEs in the passing game. All 3 are a mis-match and 4 if you include Auclair. You see how Kelsey and Kittle and many others are used and you just have to scratch your head.

The answer is simple- Jackass didn’t address our O-line for 4 years until this year and the guy on the left stinks and is lazy. Everyone applauds his availability but it would ACTUALLY be better for the Bucs if he faked an injury or 2. His availability is the one thing holding this team back. Amazing people can’t see that. He got JW killed for 5 years and can’t run block at all. He is a net minus in this offense. Sorry but I have been saying it for years.

Yes I read every single article you and Ira right and listen to your podcast to…..

    That´s exactly why I wrote what I wrote….

Don´t get defensive Joe, Is just football debate, and I am very respectfull, some times I agree with you and some others I don´t, I just saying that you and some others are not very patience, that´s all…. Just give them some time,if in a couple of weeks thinks are exactly the same or worst I understand….not now….

  15. jjbucfan Says:

Never finished my thought, LOL……certain member of our line cannot block
one-on-one and needs help on every passing play, so we have to keep the TEs in. Arians doesn’t mind because he doesn’t use TEs much in his passing game, even when you have possibly the best TE corp in the entire league.

  16. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

813: BL definitely is the problem. His playcalling is extremely inconsistent and kills drives. Of course he will call good plays every now and again. The problem is they don’t come nearly enough! Brady needs to take over as OC. Period.
