Saints 34, Buccaneers 23
September 13th, 2020Well, that sure looked familiar.
Unfortunately.
The Bucs couldn’t run the ball, threw a couple of ugly interceptions and made their share of bonehead presnap penalties and miscues. A struggling secondary dragged down a suffocating run defense and the special teams needed special help.
It didn’t look like a new-look Bucs team outside of the punishing opening drive.
Mike Evans was held to one catch for 2 yards. Joe sure hopes Evans’ hamstring was a big reason why. And why are Saints players still getting in his head? Didn’t he learn that lesson years ago?
The Tom Brady debut is one to forget, as was the Leonard Fournette debut.
The good news is Carolina and Atlanta lost.
Stick with Joe for much more from this game.

WOOF
September 13th, 2020 at 7:49 pm
Same old Bucs.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:49 pm
We hit the over!
Chill out people, this was to be expected if you had any common sense at all.
Next week the season starts for real. If we don’t destroy the Panthers, then you panic.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:50 pm
Well the good side is were.in 2nd place in our division….so are the panthers and falcons…
September 13th, 2020 at 7:50 pm
Never thought I would say this, but we need preseason games (maybe just 2, and not 4)
September 13th, 2020 at 7:50 pm
Poop emojis
September 13th, 2020 at 7:50 pm
Donavan Smith killed 2 drives, if his play doesn’t improve we may be looking at our backup QB
September 13th, 2020 at 7:50 pm
Same ol Bucs…….this was the beginning of the end. Glazers please sell this team. Superteams DO NOT WORK in the NFL!
September 13th, 2020 at 7:50 pm
Now they can be mad about it and fuel the fire
September 13th, 2020 at 7:50 pm
Looked like a pre-season game. Wait…
September 13th, 2020 at 7:50 pm
man what a bummer, i expected better, oh well, it’s a bucs life, let’s get em next week guys
September 13th, 2020 at 7:51 pm
Hahahahha
This team is garbage. Tom Brady looks very whack.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:51 pm
go bucs
September 13th, 2020 at 7:51 pm
Not surprised. The upside is our offense looks like they picked up where they left off.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:51 pm
It’s understandable that the Saints are the more cohesive team, they’ve been together for awhile. So just chill !!
September 13th, 2020 at 7:51 pm
Secondary made two mistakes, the long pass to Cook and the PI by Davis. Kamar only had 60 yards, Brees threw for less than 200. It was the short fields, 2 INTs, blocked FG, fumble on kick off resulted in points for the Saints. I’m not mad at the defense
September 13th, 2020 at 7:51 pm
God this is exhausting. Can we discuss the refs needing preseason games? Sweet Jesus.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
Same old Bucs.
I expected us to lose, but it was even sloppier than I expected.
Defense got destroyed by running backs and short passing game
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
@TJ TIllman
Yes I agree. Smith stinks. But these boys were not gellin’ today. And Brady looked like Jameis. Threw a pick 6 right on queue.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
Rod Munch that’s such a low standard. I never expect the Bucs to play such a sloppy game. Expecting a loss is one thing expecting pathetic garbage football is assine.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
Defense
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
Rusty. Sloppy. The lack of preseason games and the shorter training camp really shows. But there were some flashes of what hopefully will be when it all comes together.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
The defense played well…they simply had too much asked of them.
The offense pretty well sucked…from QB…to ME13…what happened to Gronk and the OL…yeow.
What was familiar is the suckitude of special teams…there is NOTHING special about them…they truly suck…a blocked kick..a moronic keystone cops play on the short kickoff..
Pretty much though it was a perfect storm. I saw a lot I liked. NOW…the MISTAKES were all too familiar. If they can’t stop the stupid pre snaps…blocked kicks…etc they will suck this year.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
Same old Bucs.
At least the Lightning are winning.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
Blame Jameis
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
They must have raised the white flag instead of the battle flag.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:52 pm
All the talking heads SAID the team would likely struggle in the beginning as they work to get in sync…but geez – that wasn’t even competitive! The penalties! So many stupid penalties! Hopefully they get their [expletive] together by next week.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:53 pm
8 -8 at best
September 13th, 2020 at 7:53 pm
The two silver linings are
1. this happened week 1
2. the defense looked good.
Can’t wait for the winston defenders to come out in full force.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:53 pm
I knew this game would be tough to watch. Didn’t anticipate the special teams issues. Although, the defense played well given all the turnovers. This team will get better as the season goes on and we will see the saints again.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:53 pm
“Dare I say
You guys missed my derriere ”
Dare “Special teams captain” Ogunbowale
Lesean McCoy? Lol
September 13th, 2020 at 7:53 pm
You can pretty much throw that whole game out. Bad all the way around with a few exceptions. Never been a Donavan Smith hater, but he needs to start playing like he’s getting paid because that was embarrassing on his part today. Total garbage from him today.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:53 pm
@Lamarcus
I agree. Trash indeed took the field today.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:54 pm
Jee I wonder where are downfield passing threat went?
Can someone help me out?
September 13th, 2020 at 7:55 pm
Same ol Bucs, yeah right lol. This is not week 16, The deffense will not be a liability, and Winning season is still happening. GO BUCS!!!
September 13th, 2020 at 7:55 pm
Saints were ready, Bucs weren’t.
This team needs a lot more work to look like a playoff contender.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:55 pm
Not too concerned yet chemistry was off and Saints are a good time take away pick 6 we have a chance at the end secondary didn’t look good other than Winfield and at times Davis Miller looks like he will be the slot we been looking for team is ok next week vs Panthers becomes an early must win cause to drop 2 divisions games starting 0-2 would be tough to bounce back from
September 13th, 2020 at 7:55 pm
Eh it’s positive in the sense they really look like a team that can beat anybody. The horses are there.. just looks like a team thats out of sync and sloppy which is kinds expext and saints are closer to mid season form minsu a few mistakes early. They will be one of the teams to beat and we can be too with some more time together
September 13th, 2020 at 7:55 pm
Wirfs looked good.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:56 pm
And D.White was crap today. He was totally lost on both of the first 2 TDs.
I am a huge D. White fan but I’m not proud to say that after today. A LB let’s up a TD on 3rd and 10? That’s a rookie mistake. Very disapointed
September 13th, 2020 at 7:56 pm
Donovan Smith is trash.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:56 pm
They’re gonna be fine! We needed this embarrassing L, NOW ITS TIME TO GET BACK TO WORK!!! Let’s whoop the stinking panthers and continue to grow👍
September 13th, 2020 at 7:56 pm
Same ol’ story. Can’t win with a 🗑️ QB.
It’s a Buccs life.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:57 pm
I guess the Saints are head and shoulders above the Bucs ability. Depressing to say the least, almost comical.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:57 pm
Dirk never lost an opener, BA is 0-2.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:57 pm
I can’t believe I drank the kool-aid.
Same. Old. Bucs.
Not even Tom freakin’ Brady can fix Bucs football.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:58 pm
One thing is for sure. Super Bowl teams don’t beat themselves with stupid penalties. This was a game that could have been won. Bruce needs to find a way to create some discipline real fast. We have the talent, but do we have the brains! We are hoping Brady can help with that, but wow, the way we lost hurt
September 13th, 2020 at 7:58 pm
Not playing Godwin in the slot like last year let’s hope it’s because they had to protect sorry arse Donovan Smith and not because we changed up the entire offense for Brady. O line got a lot of work to do, if rojo keep playing like that he will be replaced. We needed fans in the stands throwing rotten fruit at mike Edwards and Donovan Smith
September 13th, 2020 at 7:58 pm
Meanwhile the Patriots keep on rolling even with Cam Newton at QB.
Could it be that Belichick was the main reason for the dynasty after all?
September 13th, 2020 at 7:58 pm
Buc Cheek I counted33 mistakes today. Doubtful if we are good enough to beat the Panthers like that.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:59 pm
Looked like D. Smith did opt out for the season.
September 13th, 2020 at 7:59 pm
One thing I did notice come to fruition was what everyone thought: Tom Brady is not Jameis Winston, meaning when the line breaks down, he won’t be able to bail us out with his legs. The hits he took today cannot be sustainable. This line has to step. Communication between Brady and his receiver in first real game action was to be expected as well as the final outcome. As long as we can make it too 3-3 within our first six, I think well really start to get rolling going on an 8-2 stretch or better to finish the season. That’s when we start to dominate. But this line has to step up. D Smith did not have a good game.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:00 pm
Too many vets, experienced players and continuity in general (outside of a few starters) for them to come out and look like this against the f**king Saints.
Seems like everyone was reading the press clippings on how “stacked” this team is.
They are the Bucs, and this is how it rolls, year after year.
Week one be damned, this was a embarrassing beat down on so many levels. From the Front Office to the Towel Boys…
September 13th, 2020 at 8:02 pm
Here is my take:
I didn’t expect a win today. Hoped for it, but was not in my wheelhouse.
The QB needs more real-game time to work with the offense. I’m glad they took advantage of the last couple of drives to do that. I didn’t like the vanilla play calling and didn’t like them sticking with RoJo so long. Brady probably needs to study more, spend more time in the park. But I’d definitely rather have him on our team right now than any QB.
The Saints are the odds on SB favorite. One DPI, one offsides goofup, and one instance of getting outsmarted/unprepared for a ST play to take the KO and it would be have been better, within one score as I thought.
The D got stronger as the game went on. Very happy with that.
Evans again needs to learn to keep his cool He will play better and not psyche himself out.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:03 pm
Even TB12 can’t save this group.
Peace, out
September 13th, 2020 at 8:03 pm
Donovan Smith looked like he was TRYING to get Brady killed! Tell me again why the Bucs believe he’s so talented? Ole’ Blocks, motion and holding penalties are pretty much his specialty! Please tell me why we pay this guy Millions of $.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:03 pm
Loved how Wirfs and Winfield did. White, David, JPP, Whitehead, Dean, Bunting, picked up where they left off.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:03 pm
Bucs should keep the television feed of the reactions of the Saints on the sidelines. Those smirks may give the motivation to get even with them when the Bucs play them again at home later this season.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:04 pm
Scotty Miller was a ray of sunshine. special teams awful jordan whitehead and his PI call awful
Defense was good Saints had 2 ints, a blocked kick, a muffed kickoff yet defense was solid
September 13th, 2020 at 8:04 pm
We’ll get better with game time film. Smith is gone next year. You’re trying to run it to the left side against this D??? Shame shame BA. Don’t know what your talking about bad secondary? We got f#cked on a BS PI call putting them inside the five. Dean just was jogging against Cook when Brees went deep and actually got a deep connection but I think the young secondary. Vita noooo. RoJo looking like regular ole RoJo. Waiting for Fournette to get enough time in to start. The fact. Time in the pocket is scary with Brady which has been discussed for a long time.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:06 pm
JimmyJack – It’s a realistic standard. We lost the opening day game to the Saints in 2002 as well, I’m not going to panic. It’s completely understandable with a new QB going against a top defense that it would look sloppy.
What isn’t acceptable in my opinion was the specials teams garbage. A blocked kick and a fumble/bumble on the return. If the team doesn’t fumble that return, then the Bucs aren’t down two scores at the end. That was unacceptable.
The defense played better than I thought they would. Without all the turnovers, they’re holding the Saints under 30 in the dome, which isn’t bad in my mind.
On the offensive side Leftwich needs to get a good yelling at for his awful 1st half playcalling. Again, same as last year, you wonder how much better this team could be if Arians was calling the plays. I’m not a Leftwich believer. I don’t think he’s bad or anything, he’s just very conservative, way too conservative considering the offensive firepower we have.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:07 pm
*young secondary looked good early and has room for improvement.
P.S. Leave Mike Edwards at the airport in NOLA.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:08 pm
Also Justin Watson is garbage. Cut him. He cause at least one INT last year in those last two games and tripped on his own two feet on a wide open TD in those last two games. This year he comes out flat on an out route. He’s not an NFL player, he’s the Ryan Smith of the offense, I don’t care if he’s OK on special teams and can run a 4.4, he’s awful.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:10 pm
With as terrible as Justin Watson was, Scotty Miller played pretty well — although on that 2nd drive all he had to do was lean some and he’d have gotten that 1st down and likely changed the course of the 1st half. But he does look like he could be productive. We’ll see how he does on grass.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:11 pm
I had a bad feeling about this one from the get-go. It was a game between two geriatric old fart HOF qbs. Why are they still playing? They have accomplished everything in their sports careers.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:14 pm
This exactly what happens to a team with a new QB, TE, and 2 RBs with no live game action before the season to work out timing and communication. Don’t panic…

Don’t do that… The Saints will make a pro-bowler out of him.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:14 pm
Rod Much…….My point us about more then winning or losing. Yea it was expected to be a tough game to win.
But to me it’s the way we lost……We didnt lose a hard fought battle. This game was expected to be hard fought. It was a very disappointing effort.
I did not expect the Bucs to be so underprepared and helpless.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:15 pm
Scotty! Came through. And you gotta have some HUGE balls to push Mike Evans in the back. He got his.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:17 pm
Wow I can’t say I’m surprised but man am I surprised!
There was no identity today. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! I can’t say this is the worst that could happen but it’s darn near the worst.
Offense STILL lacks dominance. Defense while playing from behind (thanks offense) still couldn’t carry the team.
Did I say 10-6??? After today, Bucs will be lucky to make 6-10 🙁
I’m not doom and gloom but holy hell, today was embarrassing
September 13th, 2020 at 8:18 pm
Secondary played lights out besides the dean and jordan miscues which were big but special teams suck
September 13th, 2020 at 8:19 pm
And yeah the defense played good but it kinda didnt matter when D.White played poorly on both TDs and perhaps the 2 biggest plays of the game.
Your defense is only as good as its weakest link and the weakest was Devin and Dean today. Both exposed.
On the positive I loved Bunting today and Davis was solid all day. And great job to force a beautiful INt that didnt count….but really should have.
Winfield looked side as well. Very encouraging 1st game
September 13th, 2020 at 8:19 pm
Wow,,, Even a sure fire Hall of Famer can’t win a game for this team…. Somehow this sure fire Hall of Famer just threw two interceptions one being a pick six! That is a weird huh?!!!!
September 13th, 2020 at 8:21 pm
BuccoDav
Wanted to see Brees go down and Jameis come in and destroy lol.
And now that I think about it, Michael Thomas was shut down all day like Evans. Way off on the secondary hate Joe.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:21 pm
Evans is never clutch and Saints are in his head. He was the cause of the first interception. Miller is gonna be good this year. Donovan Smith is horrible and is gonna get Brady injured. Vea and Edwards with the bonehead plays of the game. Pick six was a killer and Brady will learn not to throw to Watson. Oline is horrendous!
September 13th, 2020 at 8:21 pm
SOE…..Scotty wasnt very impressive. He had a few nice plays and kinda took it all away when he ran into his own player. Jesus H can we get a freaking player out there that dont screw up?
September 13th, 2020 at 8:21 pm
Zero 1000 yard receivers for these bucs…. Sorry Curtis Godwin,,,,, Your value just got decreased,,,,
September 13th, 2020 at 8:22 pm
Everyone calm down. The saints are probably the best team in the NFC. We weren’t going 16-0. A loss , even an ugly looks to NOLA at home in week 1 is easily overcome.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:25 pm
PelsBucs kinda hard to admit but you might have a point. I dont remember many clutch performances from Evan’s. I can remember quite a few let downs however.
I kinda expected him to help carry us today.
Zero catches(excluding garbage time(
September 13th, 2020 at 8:27 pm
Hello Bucs Fans, I was never a Tampa fan just started following them when they drafted Jameis. I stopped following the team after they let Jameis go and signed Brady. I told you it was a bad move. Many of the people who hated on Jameis simply hated him because he is black and blamed him for everything. The truth is while he made mistakes it was a team issue. How did the Old GOAT do today ?? Enjoy being irrelevant for the next decade (again) and remember BLM. Colin Kapernick was right, and TRUMP is a moron. See Ya !
September 13th, 2020 at 8:36 pm
Solo… you are a moron.
September 13th, 2020 at 8:41 pm
TB12 had 2 ugly picks that led to 14pts & the pick6 was on a silver platter…OLine played just well enough to only suck 50% of the time & the K game looked as shaky as ever… DB play was hit or miss. Run D looks stout but overall – D still gave up 30+ again.
Looks like the same “Bucs beaten Bucs” we’ve seen all too often.
September 13th, 2020 at 9:00 pm
I heard all year that Jamies was the problem with this team . And I’ve been telling yall that Bruce Arians offense is out dated . If you can’t run the ball we are going to lose . I told yall that when we had Jamies and I’m so to tell yall the same thing with Brady . We need a running game regardless of who the quarterback is . Defense played well offense lost this game .
September 13th, 2020 at 9:11 pm
Go back to two years ago bro.
September 13th, 2020 at 9:43 pm
Let’s relax a little. It was a sloppy mess for sure but that’s what you get when you have a new QB – even the GOAT – and no preseason games and limited camp. Guys need that time. If we are still playing like this in a few weeks, then it’s time to panic.
September 13th, 2020 at 9:56 pm
Well…well…well…
Clearly those picks were Brother Winston’s fault.
September 13th, 2020 at 10:14 pm
@lamarcus
its week one bud.
September 13th, 2020 at 10:16 pm
Donovan Smith from those that know more than me is an exceptional athlete for a man his size. However as a NFL left tackle for your team it is painful watching him getting whipped again and again! He is the definition for inconsistency!

The D did NOT give up 30+. Brady threw a pick 6 plus another one that led to a Saints TD. Take those away and they gave up 20 which against a well-oiled offense like NO isn’t too bad.
We also held then under 275 total yards of offense and held Thomas to just 17 yards receiving plus Kamara to a paltry 1.3 YPC. If you told me the D would give up 20 points on the road and put up those numbers, I’d have bet on us winning more often than not.
D gave up a few plays such as the long gain to Cook in 3Q which was inexcusable, but they weren’t nearly as bad as this would suggest.
September 14th, 2020 at 10:02 am
This is the true beginning of the end of the Bucs as we come to know. Everyone will be gone after this season. Brady did what Winston which doesn’t say it was a QB problem but desperation by the coaching staff and solely the head coach. He better be able to back up what he’s talking at this point or the Glazers will be done with him. They were rising last season with a still young QB this season they are fading to 7-9 no doubt. They won’t beat the Falcons either. Tom Brady looked very frustrated and wasn’t positive with his teammates like Winston was. Brady is very negative and results driven kind of person and doesn’t display very much loyalty to his teammates in the heat of battle. So not what Mike Evans needed. Evans is shot after yesterday and he misses Winston dearly. If you didn’t see that on his face you didn’t see anything.
September 14th, 2020 at 10:27 am
Licht & BA tell us again how good lazy ass D. Smith is. He is pure garbage. But they will continue to play him to save face.
