Bucs Catch An Early Break
September 9th, 2020Joe was listening to a podcast from Chris Simms last night — more on that in a few hours — where Simms was breaking down the Bucs’ schedule.
In Week 3, Simms mentioned how the Bucs will have to face a tough Broncos defense on the road. Well, that defense just got weaker.
In a sad news item, three-time All-Pro pass rusher Von Miller blew out his ankle Tuesday and from most reports, it appears to be a season-ending injury for the Broncos’ beastly sackmeister.
But there is more bad news. Per James Palmer of NFL Network, who covers the Broncos, Miller’s partner in crime Bradley Chubb will likely be on the shelf for a while too.
An added element with Von Miller’s injury is the fact that the #broncos believe Bradley Chubb, who’s coming off an ACL injury, is going to continue to take some time to get to 100%. They don’t know exactly how long into the season that’ll take. He’ll likely be on a pitch count

So the Bucs, who during the Lost Decade, couldn’t buy a break, seem to be getting lucky with the Broncos. You cannot tell Joe that a defense that relies so heavily on its pass rush will be anywhere near as good now after losing two of the best pass rushers in the game.
The biggest thing for the Bucs on offense is that they keep park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady upright.
If he won’t face Miller in Week 3 and may only see Chubb for a limited time, that should go a long way in helping the Bucs win a big road game early in the season.
You think the Broncos regret letting reigning NFL sack king Shaq Barrett get out the backdoor?

Broncos will ask for Shaq back now.

Simms is knowledgeable and fun to listen to, but his wideout rankings are even worse than Ira’s. Getting other team’s castoffs (Shaq) is a refreshing change and I really hope we strike gold with Rosen too.

Let’s not celebrate “getting a break” by an opposing player (or players) being HURT. I want the Bucs to beat the Broncs as much as anyone, but not because their stars are HURT!!
September 9th, 2020 at 6:41 am
And it seems like the Bucs ALWAYS lose when the other teams big stars OR #1 QB are hurt.

You always wish to play an opponent at 100% but I am not gonna complain.
Plus , Broncos need to be more worried about drew lock getting bulldozed by barret, suey, vea and JPP
I think lock is their starter? Good luck with that?
He may tap out at halftime.

odd unheralded guys always come out of nowhere to have huge games vs the bucs…
especially quarterbacks…they have career best games…
so beware…
of coco beware, or whomever the broncos pull off that bench to chase brady
September 9th, 2020 at 8:39 am
dont they have demarcus walker from fsu?….all those guys are all pro….lol…
GO BUCS!!!!!

What are you talking about joe the bucs couldnt buy a break? You have produced countless articles talking about the football gods giving the bucs a break due to injuries to opposing great players and the starting qb and the bucs still got wood shedded. You create your own luck and injuries to opposing players is not a break (no pun intended).

I’m not sure how you can say we never caught a break during the lost decade. We may have faced more back up QB’s than any other team over the last 10 years. Problem is we also got shredded by more back QB’s that any other team during the lost decade.

Ironically, without Von Miller(my son may end up playing for the same high school as he did in the Dallas area) and Bradley Chuckled(From NC and a huge NC State fan) we wouldn’t have Shaq Barrett. Barrett is strictly a Buc because of those two. So we already caught a break from those guys….

I will worry about the week 3 opponent after the end of the week 2 game. Not before.

I think the whole nfc south plays them so it won’t help us in the division

I sent a screenshot of that tweet to my friend whose a Bronco fan. He said “Broncos will be giving up 50 burgers all season.”
I replayed with “especially week 3”
I haven’t heard back. 😂😂
