Grumpy in Boston?
No, Joe doesn’t believe for an instant the Bucs have placed the franchise’s fortunes on a malcontent.
But one Boston insider who is as reliable and credible as they get claims park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady was such an @ss with the Belicheats last year, no one inside the Patriots organization (except maybe creepy Bob Kraft) shed a tear that he left.
Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal paints a picture of a grump whose attitude was such a drag that the Belicheats organization believed it was best to let the six-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback walk away.
Now Bedard’s story is locked behind a paywall. But the good people of NESN, specifically Dakota Randall, offered an excerpt.
And I will admit to you that from what I’ve heard since Tom Brady departed, the Patriots did need a vibe change in the locker room because a dour Brady, which started to crop up at the end of 2018, took its toll on the Patriots last season. It was so bad that some of his teammates have admittedly privately that it was better for all involved that Brady moved on if he was going to have the same attitude this season.
Bedard is a pro’s pro in the business. He just wouldn’t throw up crap for the helluva it. So this story likely has meat to it. But how much of a grump could Brady have been? For crying out loud they were 12-4 last year. That sure doesn’t seem like Brady was a cancer.
And Brady turned grouchy at the end of the 2018 season? Good grief, the Belicheats won a Super Bowl that year. Please!
One thing Joe has noticed is that Brady always seems to be in a good mood with the Bucs. Maybe because he’s away from Belicheat? Dude’s renting out a waterfront palace for a home and he lives where people from his old stomping grounds pay to visit.
Additionally, Brady has more weapons to work with than George Patton. He has damn near everything he or any quarterback could ask for.
If Brady was this sour of a teammate, word would get around quickly in league circles. So why did Leonard Fournette want to play with him so badly?

Of course he was upset because for the first time in his career he didn’t have literally the perfect team around him so he had to run away and find one. In most walks of life that’s called being spoiled which is what he’s been his entire career. The greatest coach of all time, two Hall of Fame kickers to pull games out for him every time, one of the best defenses in the league for 19 straight years, a Hall of Fame level offensive line coach, Rob Gronkowski, Randy Moss, wow what tough times he’s had.
SPOILED ROTTEN and this is the guy everyone’s worshiping?

It feels good knowing a true leader is behind center. One that unites a team on BOTH sides of the ball. No more stupid pre game speeches, no more eating fingers, no more using google to learn his position.
A leader who knows the game and knows how to get every last bit out of his fellow players.

Thing is, you see; over here…Brady got everything that organization denied him for so long. I don’t blame him is he had some kind of attitud or was kind of grumpy those last couple of years…you know, playing on a reduced salary, making during games miracles, covering for their mischiefs (lol)…and the Pats not doing anything to help him and taking advantage of him…I’ll be pissed too…he in a better place now and eager to play…God bless him!

It’s funny that anyone would try to defend Brady complaining about anything New England did for him.
Now just for one second think of the venom that would have been spewed at our previous QB for acting that way when he truly had a reason to considering our defense was HORRIBLE and our kickers SUCKED for all 5 years and the running game was crappy 4 if his 5 years. And oh yeah he had 3 head coaches in 5 years.
Now that is a reason to complain yet not a word.
So which player is the one you would rather root for? The whinny little bit*ch that was spoiled rotten and still pouted or the kid that had to work for everything, got sh*t to help him yet still never blamed anyone but himself?

Ndog…while you are saying the “truth”…just admit that Jameis failed so miserably with his play and incidents during his time here, that he was lucky to make 5% elsewhere of what he earned his last year here, and was fortunate to find a backup position elsewhere. He wasn’t even considered a starter by the worst teams in the league. How many times did he bring us back against good teams? How many times did he put the D behind the eight ball and demoralize them with early picks. How many good games did he string together against good teams? Not saying he won’t get his head together and start playing more like Patrick Mahomes, than Jeff George. But he didn’t here. He is gone…and deservedly so, after this organization did what it could to straighten out his game. Wish him luck, as long as it isn’t against the Bucs. Do you wish the same?

I 100% believe that. The guy continuously got disrespected by his coach and his organization. Coaches tried to trade him. Owners continuously promised to give him more to work with and didn’t year after year while expecting a price reduction. I don’t blame him for not being chipper. Best for all parties involved.

As parents even myself we’ve gone too far and have done a great injustice to young adults. If you think this generalization is wrong though I disagree. Never in my life have I had so many 20 somethings apply for a good paying job that wouldnt even show up . Most of them living at home with zero desire to get out.

You can worry about schedules this or that but if you really think Brady is worried about beating the Falcolns or Panthers I think you’re gone a little too far off your rocker.

Hey Ndog, I will take Brady and his six Super Bowl rings against Winstons 1 ring from National Championship in college. This is the NFL not the ACC. There are no scholarships or red shirt seasons in the NFL. We drafted “the most NFL QB ready, with the highest football IQ” who could not get out of his own way on the NFL field. Yes he has had many yards and many TD’s but it was his lack of ball security that cost him his job in Tampa. Nothing personal against Winston. The NFL is a Business that demands accountability from your actions on the field and off of it as well. On both counts, Winston was not as good as we all hoped he would be. The ax has swung and he is no longer on the Buccaneers team. Good luck to him in his future. But his many many many Millions of dollars we paid him do not make me cry a river for him, I have already built a bridge and gotten over that. Move on.

Karma I suspect that Brady also grew very tired of playing with a lack of weapons. They havent given Brady squat for weapons since basically Moss and Welker left………Gronks the only real name I can think of. Eldelmans a quality player but very limited in ability.
And also factor in where Brady signed……right here in Tampa…..Something tells me all the weapons we have(and a Riskit offense) was a big reason why Tom picked the Bucs. Doesnt seem like a coincidence. He aiming to hit 4.9k yards this year!!

I have to give credit to Jason Licht! Jason took two or three good players and built a team. He addressed the O-line and d-line. This roster is fulll with talent.

Ndog…might be right about the organization in 2015, and many other years. Seems during the Lovie, Koetter years, we barely developed any players. And if you mean that we can’t blame Jameis’s lack of development solely on him, I’d agree. He was allowed to play his game with little correction or development for years, instead of calling him up short and being stricter with him. But we are where we are…and since we have only had three quality HC’s in our history…Dungy, Gruden, and Arians, I’d also have to say that a number of young talented players “fell through the cracks” over the last fifty years.

Been saying this pretty much since we signed TB12.
Minor differences. Weapons and coaching scheme were THE reason Tom chose us. That bears repeating, He Chose Us!
Also, I think 4.9k yards is the floor he is aiming at!
I think he anticipates an opportunity, with everything he has to work with here, to set multiple NFL records this year.
With that in mind, I have taken upon myself to give our offense a nickname similar to the “Greatest show on turf” from the Rams.
With all of the pieces coming together the way they have I think we can call this “The Perfect Storm”!
Nautical minded, takes a jab at NE, and how often do you see as much talent on one roster? We truly should take the league by storm.

I thought Koetter was a fine offensive coach, just not a good head coach.
Winston had plenty of good coaching with Koetter, and always had decent receivers going back to VJax.
It is Winston who failed himself. He had every opportunity afforded to him and just made too many turnovers.
There is a reason nobody wants him as a starting QB…and that does not include the multiple off-field issues.
Fact is he lost his teammates in Tampa. Very few, if any, shed tears or angst when he was not resigned. And those same treammates are jumping with joy over a chance to play with Brady.
Fact is Ndog and the Wiston sycophant clan are a teeny, tiny minority among even casual Buc fans.

He did get fired in Jacksonville… He is in Atlanta, but he did have a good relationship with Ryan….BTW…I think Joe was right about Koetter… This article was written when Joe was wet behind the ears, as we used to say in Central Illinois…

I’ve never been a Brady fan, and especially less so since I was forced to leave my home of 33 years in Tampa for Boston (mostly because of Donald Trump), but I can tell you in the few years of living out here is that the sports fans are beyond spoiled.
This is nothing more than sour grapes on the part of Boston fans (and media).

I will just say this that the Patriots were 14 and 6 without Brady being on the field . And that’s the truth Brady has been on good teams that can play defense and run the ball . That’s why they never blew out any one in the superbowl . The national media has pushing the quarterback position for a long time now maybe about 12 or 13 years . So they have a lot people believing that the quarterback is the reason why you win are lose . And that’s a lie because what happened to Nick Foles when he went to Jacksonville . And what happened to Nick Foles in Chicago he couldn’t beat out Trubisky . So now every body knows that it was the team he had in Philadelphia !!!

Of course Brady had an attitude, his relationship with Belicheck had run its course and other than Sony Michel at RB, they have absolutely nothing else on offense for Brady anymore

Bucfan51 read the hold post my point is that Brady has been on teams that were complet teams . The record says that stats says the same thing . Brady has never played on a trash defense or had a trash kicker . I have never compared Nick Foles to Brady or anyone else . But I’ve seen average quarterbacks to below average quarterbacks win superbowls more have I’ve seen hall of fame quarterbacks win superbowls with bad defenses and bad running games . It’s not one superbowl wining quarterback that had a bad defense and a bad running game . That’s the point I’m trying to make that it’s a team game not a quarterback game . For example Rogers had 35 tds and just 5 interceptions and the Packers still didn’t make the playoffs . Why because they couldn’t run the ball or play defense . That’s the key of winning championships .. And that will determine our season this year those too situations .
