Figuring Out The Bucs Defense
September 6th, 2020So what happened last year when NFC South offenses got a second look at Todd Bowles’ defense.
The answer is a key to the 2020 season.
Here’s how the rival quarterbacks performed in their Game 2 against the Bucs.
The Bucs lost all three games.
Drew Brees: 28-of-35, 3 touchdowns, no interceptions and no sacks
Kyle Allen: 20-of-32, 227 yards, 2 touchdowns, no picks, 2 sacks
Matt Ryan: 30-of-51, 313 yards, 1 touchdown, no picks, 6 sacks.
Add it up and that’s a 66 percent completion rate with 6 touchdowns and no interceptions.
The Saints even ran the ball well (28 rushes for 109 yards). The Falcons were 7-of-18 on third down conversions. And yes, Bowles’ defense was kicked in the teeth by five Jameis Winston interceptions.
It’s well known that within a division, offensive and defensive coordinators are always adapting and adjusting to gain an edge against each other. Joe can’t make a case that Bowles was a winner on that front in 2019.
With more experienced players this year and more coaching, Bowles should be able to execute more of his playbook to counter his whatever his rivals will do to figure out his defense.
If the Falcons haven’t fired their head coach yet and Todd Gurley isn’t injured, Joe is confident those Week 15 and Week 17 games against Atlanta are likely to decide the Bucs’ fate. And how Bowles adjusts will be a big part of that.

The toilet bowl defense will be exposed!!!!!!!!!!!! The sheep want to ignore all the backup qb’s they played at the end of the year!!!!!!!!! They did not “turn the corner”!!!!!!!! They played scrubs at qb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And now there is tape that all teams will have against the toilet bowl defense!!!!!!!!!!!! And injuries will be no excuse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sheep will soon ” realize” what folly this so called “all in” really means, it means the bucs were “all in” because ole stale biscuit is “old and desperate”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 6th, 2020 at 10:59 am
Let’s not forget Todd Bowles Defense in those 3 games was put in tough spots due 11 interceptions and 2 pick six’s. I’m not saying there perfect but they’ll be in better position just by the fact that Tom Brady won’t turn the ball over. Plus with the addition of Winfield Jr. and everyone else being healthy on our defense to start the year I think in the Saints game we’re going to really show people how good our secondary has gotten

Joe
EL BUCO REALIST should be banned just a suggestion
I understand everyone has an opinion but Jesus!!!!
Come on !!!!
September 6th, 2020 at 11:19 am
I agree with FernandoDiaz ……if there’s anyone else out there who also agree; let it be known…… let’s make a movement…Ban Fecalisto…!!
September 6th, 2020 at 11:27 am
Fernando Diaz Says, “EL BUCO REALIST should be banned ”
Iamabuc Says, “I agree with FernandoDiaz”
Why do you allow man crust Jameis Winston Saint fan to continue of this forum? He adds no value to this forum. Nothing he says is logical – he just want to get a laugh out of the spin. He is a head case. At least NDog makes a couple of descent but wrong points.

@ El Buco
Trolling – (verb), as it relates to internet, is the deliberate act, (by a Troll – noun or adjective), of making random unsolicited comment on a forum with the intent to provoke and engage in an argument.
Troll – Someone who deliberately pisses people off online to get a reaction.
Psychopath – a person having an egocentric and antisocial personality marked by a lack of remorse for one’s actions
A guy who calls others “sheep” certainly seems like someone to me that has an egocentric and antisocial personality
September 6th, 2020 at 11:34 am
I agree with the previous posts on El Bucco Realisto.
I mran it’s not even accurate when you consider Deshaun Watson and Matt Ryan in the last games.
Troll of epic proportions.
September 6th, 2020 at 11:36 am
I may get banned here at some point but yes El Buco is allowed on this site to call the group:
Sheep: A group of people who lack the capacity for careful consideration, imagination, or individual thought.
or
Sheep: Someone who mindlessly follows… A waste of flesh and brain cells.
September 6th, 2020 at 11:39 am
Maybe Joe should put a poll out to ban for Jameis man-crush El Realisto
I am not sure if NDog would even support him.
September 6th, 2020 at 11:44 am
Is there others here who believe that high amounts of turnovers puts extra pressure on a defense?
Let’s see what this defense can do when that is minimized.
September 6th, 2020 at 11:56 am
@alabamabucsfan
You are wrong as always!!!!!!! Try and find a post that El Buco Realisto has made in support of jay-miss!!!!!!!!! I lost my screen name of The Bucs Realist because of a great joke about jay-miss that wacky Joe did not like!!!!!!!! And that joke still holds up!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is not a joke, but rather a truthful statement!!!!!!!!!!
Why are there so many unsolved murders in Alabama????????? There are no dental records and everyone has the same DNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 6th, 2020 at 12:20 pm
Just do not concern yourselves with realisto’s comments. He is a fraudulent Bucs fan. Nobody who is a real fan has so much hate and negativity and a desire to see the team fail as this stooge.
The sheep are blessed. The Bucs will shine and the frauds are exposed.
September 6th, 2020 at 12:20 pm
Buffoono Realisto doesn’t realize (ironic) the Biscuit had mostly Koetter’s guys and had a very good offense, except the TOs, and the number one rush defense in his 1st year. Night and day difference with the D. What more do you expect? This year he’s got more pieces to the puzzle, it will be even better from last year from a winning perspective.
September 6th, 2020 at 12:22 pm
So posters who don’t agree with El Buco want to ban him. This is sounding awfully familiar to college campuses where diversity of thought isn’t encouraged.
I suggest the people who are against the first amendment don’t read El Buco’s posts.
You can tell who the group thinkers are.
September 6th, 2020 at 12:22 pm
We’ve got losers on here who just like to have a shtick to get noticed. These are the dudes who got bullied in school.

El Buco Realisto Says, “Why are there so many unsolved murders in Alabama????????? There are no dental records and everyone has the same DNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Perfect example of being a head case Jamies man crush Realisto! Just because my username is AlabamaBucsfan does not mean I am from here. Moved to AL as my wife is from here. Just for clarification, I grew up and spent most of my life in Tampa. Siblings is still living there and I often visit. Served the military in the special forces as a recon/sniper having my last assignment at SOCOM at Macdill.
September 6th, 2020 at 12:25 pm
I think Dean is the best player in our secondary.
I think we are in need of a decent vet cb
September 6th, 2020 at 12:26 pm
I feel mostly ok about the safeties
September 6th, 2020 at 12:42 pm
According to Greg Auman, 17 players were exchanged from the waiver wire. None were taken from the Bucs nor did the Bucs pick up anyone.
September 6th, 2020 at 12:50 pm
Bucs RB Calais, LB Russell, S Hagan cleared waiver and are headed the practice squad.
September 6th, 2020 at 12:53 pm
TE Tanner Hudson and WR Josh Pearson also clear waiver and now headed to the practice squad.
September 6th, 2020 at 12:57 pm
DL Jermiah Ledbetter, G Zack Bailey and Cyril Gray made it to the practice squad.
September 6th, 2020 at 12:58 pm
S D’Cota Dixon and OL Nick Leverett also made the practice squad.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:00 pm
QB Reid Sinnett it the 11th spot out of 16 who can be placed on the practice squad. 5 more left.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:04 pm
CB Herb Miller made it to the practice squad. Four more left.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:09 pm
2 spots left on the practice squad. CB Mazzi Wilkins and OL Shackelford made it.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:15 pm
1 spot left. DL Bennie Potoa’e made it.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:16 pm
AlabamaBucsFan: Thanks for the updates on the practice squad. There are always a handful of those guys who eventually make the roster.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:20 pm
One player that sticks out who did not make it on the practice squad is Dare Ogunbowale. Perhaps he was ineligible.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:25 pm
Most notable not making it to the practice squad is LB Noah Dawkins, LB Kahzin Daniels, LB Divinity and K Gay. Still one spot left.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:26 pm
Dare will probably be in the Veteran Practice Squad category.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:30 pm
AQ Shipley?
September 6th, 2020 at 1:31 pm
lambchop Says, “AQ Shipley?”
Perhaps both him and Fournette (should sign today) will be added to the active roster later today.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:34 pm
Dare is visiting the Raiders accoring to Rapoport.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:38 pm
Both OL Molchon and WR Tyler Johnson needs to be added to the 3 week IR first, to open a couple spots on the 53 man roster.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:38 pm
Ooooooh hysterical! A toothless and inbreeding joke about Alabama!
SO ORIGINAL, these boards would be truly worse off without such wit and insight…..
September 6th, 2020 at 1:41 pm
lambchop Say, “Dare is visiting the Raiders accoring to Rapoport”
That unfortunate but understandable. He was never going to replace McCoy or Fournette as a third down back this year. Dare had descent hands but was nothing special as a runner. His greatest trait was on special teams.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:47 pm
Can’t 100% confirm this but according to Greg Auman the Bucs may have just signed Josh Rosen to the practice squad.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:49 pm
This would have the Bucs roster with 5 QBs. Brady, Gabbert and Ryan on the active roster with Sinnett and Rosen to the practice squad.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:56 pm
I would enjoy Not having to skip over Realisto’s posts Every thread. However, Joe allows Trolls for some reason. His site and all.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:57 pm
If the Bucs sign Fournette today that will be two top 10 picks in the past 5 years to sign with the Bucs on the same day. Crazy off-season!
September 6th, 2020 at 1:58 pm
Also guys we hit 40 plus on the JoeBucsFan.com pickem league!
Only 3 more days to join!
September 6th, 2020 at 1:59 pm
Yes, NFL website states the Bucs are signing Rosen to practice squad. Not moving my excitement needle this time.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:59 pm
SB, “I would enjoy Not having to skip over Realisto’s posts Every thread. However, Joe allows Trolls for some reason. His site and all.”
He has been banned once but changed his name to work the system. Joe can read and filter IP addresses. Maybe a second ban will be permanent.
September 6th, 2020 at 2:11 pm
If OJ Howard has a breakout season which is totally possible and with what we all know Godwin can do plus the addition of Fournette, that is quite a haul of talent from the 2017 draft.
September 6th, 2020 at 2:12 pm
According to Tom Pelissero, Rosen wanted to go to Bucs to learn under the GOAT, an offensive-minded head coach and an Offensive Coordinator who believed in him coming out of college.
My guess if Rosen proves he is an upgrade over Ryan Griffin, he will be place to the active roster and Griffin will be on the streets. Nothing against Griffin but the Bucs need to plan a future – post Brady.
September 6th, 2020 at 2:14 pm
I can not wait until joe, does his annual counting of past pro-bowlers currently on the roster, that always gets the sheep moist!!!!!!!!!!! Quick quiz sheep!!!!!! How many pro-bowlers does it take to drag ole stale biscuit to the playoffs??????? Answer: ” More than the bucs have”!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL HAhahaha!!!!!!!!!
Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 6th, 2020 at 2:16 pm
I’m not surprised at all, division opponents always gets the best of each other due familiarity. Dolphins for instance always play the Patriots tough, even though the majority of the time they come out on the losing end.
September 6th, 2020 at 2:20 pm
Hopefully whatever pedophile abused you as a child is in prison realist.
September 6th, 2020 at 2:35 pm
Okay, El Buco Fake-A-Leasto…If The Tampa Bay Buccaneers break your heart and make the playoffs, do you promise to stop posting gibberish? Deal?
September 6th, 2020 at 3:24 pm
Realist you remind me of the kid off bad Santa, you must of been dropped on your head when you was a child… repeatedly

Buccaneers have cornerbacks coached by Mikal Smith”
