“Little Bit Of A Rigged Game”
September 5th, 2020The Bucs offense is almost getting too out of hand for Pat McAfee.
Joe admits to warming to this McAfee, the former Colts Pro Bowl punter and Bruce Arians emergency quarterback in Indianapolis. Joe generally hates everything about punters. They are the walking definition of losing. The only lower vocation Joe can think of is professional wrestling referee.
Why?
Punting = fail and the last thing Joe wants to hear from a punter is a football breakdown. But McAfee is different. He’s funny, has a personality, and is generally a smart dude. So Joe gives him a pass. His DAZN show, also broadcast on YouTube, was picked up by SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio beginning next week.
In his Thursday show, McAfee was blown away by the Bucs’ recent addition of Leonard Fournette and he wonders just what NFC defense will stop them? In fact, McAfee thinks the Bucs may have as good or better of an offense than the Super Bowl champion Chiefs.
“They have the chance now to run a Kansas City Chiefs-type offense,” McAfee said. “Where they have so many weapons, and you only have 11 people on the field. How many people are you going to double? How many people are you going to take away from the game? …
“There is a lot of weapons and a lot of people that they can completely f’ing distract and to move. You have a guy who doesn’t turn the ball over, by the way, playing quarterback and he knows the defense before the defense even knows the defense.
“That seems like a little bit of a rigged game at this point.”
How beautiful is that? The Bucs offense is so dangerous that the game is rigged? Joe never thought he would live to see the day!
Though Joe caught the sarcasm, McAfee believes the signing of his former Colts teammate, A.Q. Shipley, may have put the Bucs over the edge. McAfee has some weird fascination with Shipley — the two must be close buds — because McAfee referenced Shipley several times, imitating Shipley’s thick Pittsburgh drawl.
A dead giveaway of a Pittsburgh accent is the way Pittsburghers pronounce Steelers (“Stillers”), creek (“crick”), down or downtown (“don” or “dontahn”). It is almost like a cross between a Chicago/eastern European dialect and a West Virginia hillbilly accent (think Jimbo Fisher).

I think it can be debated that on paper this may be the most loaded offense in the history of the NFL.

AQ was his teammate in Indy so he knows him that way, and as a result he has been on the Pat McAfee show many times. They’re buddies.

Statistically, the 2013 Broncos is the best ever, but I don’t really view them as that Skill position wise. I think Peyton was just that good. 98 Vikings, 89 49ers, those late 90s Denver teams to me were the best. But yeah, this Bucs offense…I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that on paper it’s the deepest in history. We’re all out here hoping we go 11-5 and make the playoffs but Christ it has the potential to be much more than that. For all we know it could be 2007 patriots or a warriors 73-9 type yr where they just light the league on fire. We’ll see. The covid thing is such a shame – really has taken the shine off our city. It’s supposed to be OUR year. Lightning, Bucs, Rays could win it all. Has any city ever done that before? We may never be in this kind of position again in our lifetimes, and it just so happens to fall in an asterisk type of yr. lol terrific, that is just great

It is getting a little unfair to the rest of the league. The NFL needs to put a stop the Bucs raid on all the future hall of famers and pro-bowlers.

No doubt they have a lot of weapons but they haven’t had a lot of time to build chemistry. I think by week 3 or 4 they’ll start clicking on all cylinders. My 2 concerns are keeping Brady healthy and the secondary. I heard Carlton Davis has a shoulder injury, so that’s not good to hear. Going to play the Saints, I expect the Bucs to lose a close one & people will over analyze it but Saints have been together a while . They’ll also be trying to prove a point because everyone’s talking about the Bucs and not them. But after that the Bucs should be fine. I see them winning 11 games.

Didn’t know he’s been on a show a bunch. Sounded like they were friends the way McAfee was always referencing him “from Moon Tahnship.”

But the Bucs waited to upgrade until Jameis left because they hated him and the kickers hated him and everyone in TB hated him and he was having to throw the passes and then run out and catch them after having to block for himself. And the lying, backstabbing biscuit man never wanted him, so BL did everything he could to make JW look stupid, which apparently worked out very well. He’s just the best thing ever and you guys just don’t understand him the way we do and it just breaks my heart that y’all lie about him every chance you get. He’s a human being, damn you!! And, I am the only one that knows anything about football!! So, there!

Joe
McAfee also had conversations w/Clay Matthew III about joining the BUCS.

Joe hates punters but McAfee is saying nice things about his beloved bucs so he gets a pass.
September 5th, 2020 at 12:48 pm
Wrong. Joe has quoted McAfee several times in recent months. As always, Joe’s archives can be searched at no cost 24/7. If McAfee said something bad about the Bucs, Joe would write about it.
Why exactly would Joe write on a Bucs site what Matthews (or anyone) has to say about (shrugs) the Buffalo Bills for example?

We need to slow down, we haven’t played a down and some people are calling the best offense ever.
Let’s wait after next weekend and see what we have when the bullets are flying for real.

Love the way you write!
#1 website for all things Bucs.
Started looking for Bucs info when they signed Brady (big Brady fan).
Love it! Keep up the good work. Wish I could get down there to join you guys for a Bromosa.

I said weeks ago that this offense was nearly unstoppable. That was before we signed Fournette. You’ve got top flight receivers all around, a QB that is accurate and averse to turnovers, and now a run game that can’t be ignored. You gonna load the box? You gonna double cover Evans? Who’s gonna keep pace with Scotty Miller pulling at least one of the DBs deep down the field only to clear out space underneath. It’s going to be a long game for opposing defenses.

Joe, I been listening to mcafee every day for the last year or so, definently my favorite sports show, no stupid political takes live BSPN or colin cowherd etc… he’s hilarious too! that being said Shipley is on the show quite a bit and the Pittsburgh drawl is something he always does about everything not just Shipley. mcafee is from Pittsburgh. Its a running inside joke on the show everything is “dahn” in Tompa bay gronkeneers country. Lots of inside jokes on that show, also if you like betting he’s sponsored by fan duel and has some good promos for the fans

I hope “on paper” talent actually translates to champions…. please keep Brady in bubble wrap!
