Fournette Should Be Better With Bucs
September 3rd, 2020Yeah, Joe knows there are a few — very few — people grumbling about the Bucs signing Leonard Fournette. Joe doesn’t understand this line of thinking at all, but hey, everyone floats his boat differently.
Some are not all that enamored with Fournette’s numbers in Jacksonville. Well, he played behind pure trash on the offensive line and he was almost the only thing the Jags had offensively.
And yes, save your breath on Gardner Minshew. The Jags got rid of Fournette, in part, so they can draft Minshew’s replacement.
Based on who Fournette will be playing with on the Bucs, Jenna Laine of ESPN seems to think Fournette will be better. Why? Because teams cannot load up the box on defense to shut him down.
In Jacksonville, Leonard Fournette faced a loaded box on 47.8% of his snaps in 2017, 39.1.% in 2018 and 34.7% in 2019. With an aerial attack featuring Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, the Bucs saw a loaded box on just 21.5% of snaps — third-lowest in the NFL, per NFL Next Gen.

And the Bucs actually improved on the offensive line with the drafting of Tristan Wirfs and the trade for foot-rubbing future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski, a powerful blocker.
Greatest Show on Natural Turf? Makes you wonder.

I like ROJO but Leonard Fournette is a proven starter. ROJO might start as #1 but once Fournette is given a chance to show his worth, he’ll be the lead RB.

Is there any weakness left for the bucs?
WRS, Check
TE, Check
RB, Check
QB, Check
This might be the most Complete bucs offense ever.

Safety — and we’re all set. Feels like Christmas morning, again and again. Go Bucs!
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:20 am
Happy about the signing, but the fact that we signed McCoy and now Fournette isn’t a good look for how the staff feels about Vaughn.
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:24 am
I am disapoint that she couldn’t slip a Brady stat in their
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:27 am
JSmart, why does that matter anymore? Your referring to a mid round pick that hasn’t played a down of football in the NFL and as the current moment looks like our FOURTH string RB?
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:29 am
The reason that some of the sheep and so-called fans are upset because it was ole stale biscuit that built up rojo up for over a year now!!!!!!!!!!! Ole stale biscuit is the one saying that the RB stable was very good, that they had all the answers to develop them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But once again ole stale biscuit lies have been exposed again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been player “REPLACEMENT” with NO player ” DEVELOPMENT”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:31 am
Are there any weaknesses on the Bucs?
Kicker
And I’m not going to believe in the secondary until I see it in action.
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:32 am
Compelling data from Jenna. Now tell me where they found that cap space. Did somebody restructure or get booted? LFG!
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:33 am
Pablo thinks this guy is going to be our new LeGarrette Blount
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:36 am
Agree bucs orlando fan!
Happy 🙂
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:36 am
@smashsquatch This only puts us like 20k over cap. Fournette cannot sign until Sun. because of Covid19 protocol. Probably will extend David’s contract and make space.

El bucco please go and be a fan of another team..I have never seen a positive post from you..You are a cranky get off my lawn man..
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:51 am
Vita , White , Godwin , Rojo was better by miles… Hudson, Our DBs as a whole….. but yeah nothing in the way of player development and btw it is the NotForLong for a reason, replacement is all over the place.
September 3rd, 2020 at 7:53 am
Yesterday I voted 8-8 on the poll. I need to revise that to 11-5 after this.

RICHARD weeks Says: “El bucco please go and be a fan of another team..I have never seen a positive post from you..You are a cranky get off my lawn man..”
AGREE!!!!!! I don’t even know why he is on this forum except to annoy people. He has a man-crush on Jameis so he should annoy the Saints.
Go Bucs!!!!!
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:03 am
Are those stats correct? I thought opponents were loading the box more than 21.5% of the time against our Bucs to invite Jameis Clause to begin his gift-giving. If these stats are correct, we should have been running more often.
As mentioned by others, Fournette’s production looks more impressive understanding that he obtained the yards he did as their best & most used offensive threat; behind that poorly rated line & against so many stacked boxes.
Let the behind whippings begin!
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:04 am
Mike forgot Cappa who got better as season went on as well but like your list
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:04 am
El Bucco, speaking of stale, can you come up with a different name for Arains? You obviously don’t have that creative of a mind, but my god man put some back bone into it. You’re the one who’s sounding a bit stale. Come on, be clever, think man, there has to be another way to skin this cat.
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:07 am
While I still expect the Bucs to start slow due to limited workouts from COVID, no preseason games and new pieces, this is a very complete offense. By mid-season they should be cruising along. Lucky for us, four of our first five are very winnable sans the opener at NO.
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:07 am
Sweet…what a nice insurance policy for $2Million.
Shady/Rojo/Dare are not going to finish an entire season with injuries and covid.
Fournette will take a few weeks to get adjusted to our O. Other teams will have injuries and we can either off load him for pics or roll the dice with him for the post season.
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:42 am
“Blah blah blah”, said El Bucco Dicko. “Even when the Bucs win the Super Bowl, I’m going to say the same old BS I always do about stale biscuits and sheep. I’m just a dumbazz, but I can’t help it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:51 am
This is the offensive backfield that could remind you of the Panthers when they had DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. I do not know who is the odd man out – but ROJO and Leonard Fournette has to be the 1-2 punch – I was excited about Shady, but he likely is not playing on ST, which is why Dare Is likely kept and you spent a 3rd on Vaughn. Also the other rookie, Calais, stays on the PS.
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:53 am
One day Realisto will realize his raucous remarks are the only, remotely, “stale” comments here. Go bore the Saints forums, bro.
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:56 am
Well, you are only as strong as your weakest link, So everyone will be watching Defensive Secondary to see what they got. Thank God they began to be competitive for the first time in years when they cut V Hargreaves. With this offense consistantly putting pressure on other teams by scoring points, and a legitimate front 7 on defense, the secondary should be able to continue on the good note they finished on last year. But again that was last year. You know when you have a video game offense, it sure helps to hide a lot of weaknesses. GO BUCS!!!!!
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:58 am
I love this signing. Fournette is definitely our closer running back. He’s going to wear out a tired defense.
September 3rd, 2020 at 8:59 am
My question is how are they going to maximize each player with 3 legit TEs, 5 RBs, and two top 5 receivers on the outside? I only wonder why Jacksonville waited until a week and a half before the season starts to release Fournette. Will he be able to pickup the playbook by next Sunday? Will the offense just plug and play and develop and install as they go and play into their identify of who they want to be.

i agree with pablo…

do you really think rojo is gonna want to run his number to fournette as well as his starting job?
i don’t think rojo is giving up his number like a son…

September 3rd, 2020 at 9:32 am
anyone remember peyton barberino ?
September 3rd, 2020 at 9:34 am
Right now I think Vaughn is the weak link. Have a feeling he may end up on IR. I also think Brate or Howard could be traded leaving room for Hudson to make the team as TE/WR. That’s my two cents worth.
September 3rd, 2020 at 10:00 am
BringBucsBack, LOL, I was going to say the same thing about the stats shown. We should have pounded the rock if the defense’s were loading the box no more than 21.5% of the time. RUN the ball!
Active gameday Jones, McCoy, Vaughn, Fourtnette
Practice squad Dare, Callis
Special teams will be the question. Jones or Vaughn will play ST if active, because McCoy and Fourtnette will probably not participate on ST.
Exciting issues to have on our team.
GO BUCS RB GO!!!!
September 3rd, 2020 at 10:14 am
A poster questioned earlier why didn’t we go all in when Jameis was here? We have been building talent on this team for a while and recently started becoming close to being a complete team. We made the attempt last year to go all in with Jameis by bringing in a bunch of quality free agents on one-year contracts.Problem was we were still lacking pieces which we have continued to add since then. Once Brady signed we became a very attractive team for free agents. All of a sudden we were only a handful of pieces away from being a serious Super Bowl contender this is why it appears that we are going all In now. You can’t make an attempt to go all in until you have quality talent across-the-board and are lacking very few pieces to make the team complete.

Sorry about the run-on with no paragraph separation. I don’t post that much but I do read this site every day.

BringBucsBack Says:
“I thought opponents were loading the box more than 21.5% of the time against our Bucs…”
.
.
I think it just seemed like it because they knew when we were going to run, because of our personnel and formations. Hopefully Byron Leftwich fixes that this season.
September 3rd, 2020 at 11:36 am
Fournette is also quite adept at picking up Blitzes!
September 3rd, 2020 at 1:31 pm
Jenna Laine skewed these stats. The Bucs OVERALL snaps against a stacked box was 21.5%, but on run plays:
Peyton Barber faced stacked box on 33.12% of his runs (8th most)
RoJo faced stacked box on 26.16% of runs (14th most)
And Fournette faced it on 31.7% of his runs (10th most)
If the Bucs can be less predictable about when they call run plays, they will leave less stacked boxes and have more success. I think Brady with his pre-snap reads and audibles are going to make this offense FLY.
September 3rd, 2020 at 1:45 pm
El bucvo realico is only happy when the Bucs are utter garbage. He’s at his happiest when the Bucs are relling off 3 win and 5 win seasons…….That really all you need to know about realiaco.

Reeling
September 3rd, 2020 at 1:47 pm
Chris thanks for sharing that. I dont watch any Jags football because I like good football. I have been wondering about that.
September 3rd, 2020 at 2:46 pm
Who would have thought that the Bucs would be 3 deep at RB, with Rojo, Fournette and McCoy… just crazy!
