Dominik Says He’s Not Buying RoJo Talk From One Buc
August 7th, 2020How could this be?
Bucco Bruce Arians just said Ronald Jones is “the man” at running back this season as other guys battle for RB roles, but former Bucs general manager Mark Dominik today says he isn’t buying it.
This reminded Joe of seeing Bucs media types barking on social media about how the Bucs wouldn’t be chasing a free agent running back after drafting a running back in Round 3, and then again in Round 7.
Joe and Ira Kaufman laughed off that nonsense during multiple episodes of the Ira Kaufman Podcast.
Then two days before the Bucs signed LeSean “Shady” McCoy, who said the Bucs were pursuing him for quite some time, Arians told media, “We won’t make any adjustments to that position,” when asked about his running backs stable.
Dominik sees and smells what’s cooking at One Buc Palace and doesn’t think it’s a RoJo stew, so he told his SiriusXM NFL Radio audience.
“They say it’s RoJo’s team. I don’t know if I believe it,” Dominik said.
‘Their actions say different than that, in my opinion. And so maybe it is Ronald’s team and maybe he is going to have a shot. My sense is that I doubt it. I think this is a group effort now that’s going to be there, and I think it’s certainly going to be LeSean McCoy’s hands because we talk about how much [Tom] loves backs; I just think that’s [why] LeSean McCoy’s there, is to prove he can catch the ball. And I think it’s going to be up to LeSean McCoy to say, ‘Look how much I have left in the tank.'”
This is all very interesting to Joe.
Regardless, the Bucs should have an open competition at running back and let it flow.
Maybe rookie Ke’Shawn Vaughn is a baller. Perhaps Arians was right when he raved heartily about “Big Play Ray,” the seventh-round rookie. And if Shady McCoy looks like the old McCoy in training camp, why not feed the beast out of the gate and see how long you can ride him? And, of course, possibly none are better than RoJo.
The pads come on in 10 days.

Arians says some flakey stuff. I don’t think the believes RoJo is the guy either. Hopefully it’s not Biden time for our head coach.

If RoJo had only 15 carries per game @ 4.2 per carry, he would have gained 1008 yds…JUST FIFTEEN!
And I don’t think Dominick knows his A$$ from much of anything

ROJO will SHOW!! And then some! His improvement from year 1 will be Amazing!! “Rollin with Rojo!”

RoJo is another Jason Licht BUST. Most of you don’t realize it yet.

Coach Arians is pulling a trump and talkin out of his rear. It’s a wide-open competition. We all know RoJo can’t block his own mother on the blitz. McCoy will be a bigger James White.

Well, at least RoJo isn’t Derrius Guice.
Another “quality” individual many here were clamoring for a couple of years ago.

well I am buying the rojo is the man. There are three constants in every Tom Brady high school field workout drone footage. Tom Brady, Ronald Jones, and Ryan Jensen. He is putting in the work in the passing game. Earning Brady’s trust. McCoy is nothing but an insurance policy in case rojo gets injured or catches the sickness. He is a late bloomer he came into the league at 20 years old. What we’re all of you doing at 20 years old. Not 100% dedicating yourself to your career. He will unlike jameis be the guy who will excel if we let him leave next year in free agency at 23 years old the same age as a lot of rookie runningbacks. He has the skill just didn’t have the maturity. He will be a top 5 back this year if he stays healthy. This new negative cancel culture really sucks. Joe just had its 12th bday and 4 years ago when we were the worst team you could come to this site for fellow bucs fans for hope. They were hyping aguayo as the an all pro kicker. Noah Spence as the steal of the draft. Now it’s all doom and gloom about everything. Sports are suppose to be fun to watch fun to root for. Making every Monday after a bucs win fun to wake up to. Listen to 620 on your way to work and on your way home. Sit in the garage as you pull in and leave your vehicle running. So you can listen to 10 more minutes of happy callers and duemig talking is up. Now it’s just the tram needs to have an all pro at every position we should have drafted this guy. You guys are getting pathetic

I’m not putting all my eggs in Ron Jones’ (as Brady called him) basket. If he’s good, fine. If not, there are other options. The most important change in the offense is Brady will be able to change the play from what he sees at the line of scrimmage. So the audibles will help immensely, IMHO.

I think that there are enough bodies at the position now that someone (please anyone) will end up at least average. Anything more will be icing on the cake.

One thing is for sure with RoJo THIS year. It’s put up or shut up time! He has to prove that he’s the guy, and I hope he does.
Had the Bucs not signed Shady, I’d say yeah, they’re going to lean on RoJo. Is it a trust issue?

We went from a committee backfield with Hargreaves, M.J. Stewart, Banks and Ryan Smith. By year’s end, it was Banks, Dean and Mruphy-Bunting.
I think Rojo will be the guy RB but at the same time the Bucs may change to Vaughn, Calais and McCoy if Rojo fails to become an all purpose back.

Agree why would you draft 2 running backs and sign a free agent running back if you already had your main guy on the team. Doesn’t make any sense but neither does carrying 3 starting tight ends but who am I to say.

This is either Jones year, or he’s a bust. Licht can’t afford another 2nd round bust, so for that reason he’ll start off as the #1 back. Like others have said, I think he’ll ball out. If the light doesn’t come on in year three I’d be shocked. With Brady as QB, and Wirfs being a huge upgrade over Dot, I see Rojo having a big year.

Coming from a guy who let Michael Bennett walk and passed on Aaron Rodgers

23 teams passed on Aaron Rodgers

RoJo will be the man and it’s not even close! McCoy will spell RoJo and has proven he can be a RB1 in the event RoJo goes down for anytime. Vaughn will spell them for 7-10 snaps a game. Dare is going to battle Ray Calais for the role of RB4. I think Dare is cut!! Calais has hands and is explosive! I see him being used in pre-snap motions to expose and create mismatches in the passing game when he’s in the game.

RoJo will have a breakout season this year mark my words. In my opinion he’s the next Derrick Henry but more agile. If he can learn to be more patient at the line and find his holes he’ll be a top back in this league. Dude is as explosive as they come.

RoJo is the man. He flashed at the end of last season, he put the work in to get better and stronger in the off-season, and he’s building rapport with Brady. Yes, we drafted an RB in the 3rd round and 7th round, and signed Shady McCoy. These moves are about having depth and options. If RoJo were to go down or end up on COVID list, Vaughn and Shady are ready to take the lion’s share. If RoJo stays healthy, I expect they will both still rotate in, but I expect RoJo to get 55-65% of the snaps, which is what most lead backs get now outside of the true workhorses (which are less common in today’s NFL). I see Vaughn and Shady splitting the rest. I think Dare will be the loser here, with him and Calais being relegated to special teams if the top 3 stay healthy.

I cant wait for the Bucs to …….
Ah I’m just kidding I don’t really give a F
