Statement From Bucs On COVID-19

June 20th, 2020

Bucs respond.

In the wake of news over the past 48 hours that an assistant coach and two players have tested positive for “The Sickness,” the Bucs have issued a statement.

We can confirm that there have been individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 at the AdventHealth Training Center. We immediately activated our COVID-19 Response Plan and vacated the affected areas, which will remain closed until extensive sanitization is completed. The individuals who may have been exposed have already been notified and are following the established protocols which include a 14-day quarantine period.

Our team headquarters remain open for our Phase 1 employees and all essential operations are continuing in preparation for the 2020 season. The names of those impacted, as well as any additional information related to these incidents, will not be released due to privacy concerns.

It sounds like to Joe there may have been players using the weight room, though that is not clear.

It also sounds like One Buc Palace may be getting a delousing similar to what happened when the MRSA polluted the locker room in 2013.

To look at the bright side, it’s much better for these positive tests to come in June rather than October.

Sounds like ole stale biscuit is just short a couple of billboards away from a Schiano like exit this year!!!!!!!!!!!! And the “real” fans say good riddance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. PSL Bob Says:

I’m afraid this is the new reality. I think if there’s going to be a season, there’s got to be some type of collective quarantine, where all the players, coaches, groundskeepers, and team-related personnel live together for the entire season, with limited exposure to families and outside individuals. Any positive tests will be during training camp and those affected will be isolated for 14 days. Then by the time the games roll around, everyone should be good to go. Teams will fly to away games on chartered, disinfected airplanes. If every team does this, he risk of players contracting the disease during games will be minimal to non-existent.

Will this happen? Unlikely! But what kind of season are we going to have if several players, particularly starters, our out for two weeks at a time and this continues throughout the season?

Blah blah blah blah blah. STFU

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

The season may start. But it will not end. Well, it will end with cancellation of all games until the following season. mankind learns the hard way. The virus cares less about your morals or standards. It only knows it needs to SURVIVE.

  5. adam from ny Says:

they might want to hire a daily delouse team…

    or tri-weekly super cleanses…

also the bucs are the new poster boys or media darlings of the nfl…

the more this team gets sick, the closer the league gets to shutting down…

as the bucs go, so goes the nfl in 2020…to some extent

  6. Imon Says:

I know that this is an unpopular opinion but we can kiss off this season. It’s not even going to start. The NFL is far too sensitive about “doing the right thing” that they are not going to take any steps that will end up in a superspreader event. Sigh.

  7. SOEbuc Says:

Does Tampa lose the Super Bowl? I would assume. They should be the first on the next choice cities for the Super Bowl.

  8. bojim Says:

There are still people who think this is just the flu. Until they or a loved one gets it.

  9. gp Says:

    Imon
You are correct that the NFL is overly sensitive and wants nothing to do with a ‘super spreader’ event. That being said, if the season does open, you can be sure the NFL has determined that the balance of good(profits) to bad(virus spike) will not too adversely affect their image.
Personally, I can do without football (don’t want to, but can) to save a few more lives.
Hopefully, a balance can be found that will let us enjoy our favorite game/entertainment.
Seems to me that ‘herd immunity’ is the best bet. I haven’t heard enough about it’s viability yet though, and I have heard a few detractors. Still hoping for the best.

  10. WillieG Says:

Every player needs to be exposed to the China Flu. Get it over with because the vast majority won’t get sick at all. Same for all healthy coaches and other staff members.

And yes, I would intentionally expose myself to China Flu even though I’m 59 and have cancer.

The only way to defeat this is to have as many healthy people get it as possible.

  11. mark2001 Says:

Willie…so a couple days ago we had less than 60 open beds in ICU in Pinellas county. And you want to expose everyone to the Covid19… I don’t know where we will set up beds after we fill the Trop with sick people, or where we will get the medical personal and gear to treat them, but maybe you would volunteer?

  12. mark2001 Says:

BTW..Willie…some newer studies say immunity might only last less than four months. When do you want to expose them again?

  13. TomTerrific Says:

This virus is a hoax. The common flu is much more deadly than this so called pandemic. The establishment just wants control over their subjects. Fear is the best motivation for sheep. They’re going to ruin sports and everything else as long as they can.

  14. DaBux Says:

Of course. I just found a Gronkowski jersey style t-shirt at Sam’s today. I would like to have a word with the creators of this virus and they are not going to like what I have to say.

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I think they need to increase rosters for a year. Maybe add another 10 players. Just make it a one-year-thing.

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

People like you are the reason this thing has not been beaten yet.

“Does Tampa lose the Super Bowl? I would assume. They should be the first on the next choice cities for the Super Bowl.”

Vegas got it for next year. The team that should have gotten it was likely pushed back a year.

  18. bucsfaninoregon Says:

Ah, do I see a hint of reason showing through the idiocy of Dear Leader’s followers? Folks, get this:
    1. It is NOT a hoax
    2. It is NOT equal to nor less of a threat than the common flue.
    3. It is NOT going away “magically” in the summer.
    4. It IS more infectious than the flue.
    5. Florida is experience the FIRST wave, NOT the second.
    6. Florida has hit 4,000+ new cases a day.
    7. Anyone that thinks it is business as usual for the NFL season is delusional.

  19. bucsfaninoregon Says:

BTW, where is GopherHead 20? Did he join Ndog?

  20. Steven007 Says:

I remain astounded, though lord knows I shouldn’t be, at the sheer ignorance of some people. China flu? This isn’t the flu. and if you can point me to the statistics that said the flu killed over a hundred thousand in the United States in the last few months please do so. I’ll wait…

  21. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

El pessimistico how do you say Go Bucs yet always just have something negative to say. What does Arians have to do with people catching COVID?

  22. El Buco Realisto Says:

In the future, 2020 will be a reminder to the sheep of why a team should not make panic and desperate moves to field a team that only has a one year window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. mark2001 Says:

Tom…you really think the NFL and Players association would be so concerned about the prospect of losing billions of dollars for a hoax? That they wouldn’t have the resources to differentiate between a hoax and a real problem? Just think…a little.

  24. Clean House Says:

Wishing everyone good health and a speedy recovery!

  25. Bucsfanman Says:

    What Clean House said!

  26. Darin Says:

It actually is a strand of the flu you numb nuggets. If you mongers only knew how many things have more of a probability of nickin ya. Bollocks

  27. Patrick Says:

Bruce Arians needs to stay well. Being 67 years old and having previous health issues puts him in that higher risk category.

  28. Craig Says:

I have heard several times that the NFL is testing a COVID proof helmet. That and the shortness of an NFL season (versus baseball, round ball, or hockey) will make a season possible.

Football teams are just like us, trying to find their way through this darkness.

Hope it ends, or some alternate thing, but it is tough to see it from here. Wishing everyone well and a speedy recovery, if necessary. Stay as safe as you can.

  29. jb Says:

Meanwhile the Transmitter in Chief is having a rally in just a few hours for his adoring, non mask wearing, non social distancing minions, so they can go back to many parts of the country and spread his message (disease).

I don’t see how they’re gonna go ahead with anything team sportswise until this virus is nailed down.

  30. Alanbucsfan Says:

It also sounds like One Buc Place will be getting a
    delousing…
HaHaHa, straight from the movie, Stalag 17

Oberst Von Scherbach : I see. 600 funny man. There will be no Christmas trees. But there will be delousing with ice water from the hoses

  31. Bush's Coke Straw Says:

    >>established protocols which include a 14-day quarantine period<<
    .
    .
The 14-day quarantine period was based on a faulty paper in Europe from way back in February which suggested asymptomatic spread of the virus. It makes no difference that asymptomatic spread has been debunked. The NFL will continue the fear porn reinforcement, because that is what their globalist masters decree.

Has anyone checked their Android phone settings lately? There are brand new big-brother settings all ready to go for COVID19 tracing. I estimate about 40% of the JBF faithful will call you selfish if you refuse to opt in. What no one would have agreed to 6 months ago, will become a political flash point because of our Fauci-inspired brain washing.

  32. mark2001 Says:

Darin… a rebel without a clue…. this is not like the yearly flu. Spanish flu? Kind of looks like it.

  33. mark2001 Says:

    .
This is textbook definition of developing herd immunity. Vaccines actually disrupt her immunity, because vaccine-derived immunity is short-lived compared to naturally derived immunity. You win the day!

In regards to your cancer, have you looked into alkaline water? I’m not a doctor, but some research indicates that cancer, like many sicknesses, thrive in an acidic environment. I put a 1/2 tsp of baking soda in my morning glass of water every day to keep my bloodstream alkaline.

I am not suggesting any cure! But this simple therapy could potentially help whatever treatment you already are undergoing. Just an idea. Good luck, Willie.

  35. Sem Says:

For those of you that want to know the daily data on the virus, go to the floridadisaster.org website and look under covid19. If there is any good news in all this for the 25-54 age group, deaths attributed to the virus are relatively low (194 so far), but the number of those testing positive has increased significantly. If you go outside in public there are still many simply not wearing masks. The original advice we received about hand washing was erroneous; now they say that infections from hand contact are minimal – the primary infection cause is said to be from an infected person breathing/coughing into a healthy person.

65% of all deaths attributed to the virus are with those 75 and older. For those 65-74, 21% of deaths.

WEAR A MASK…PLEASE.. If you are infected it could prevent you infecting someone else.

    .
    .

And yet you choose to remain ignorant by ignoring the fact that the “experts” have admitted to inflating the death statistics. News: “related” does not equal causation. I expect the MSM to ignore this fact and keep spouting the fear porn numbers, but free-thinking individuals should be able to separate themselves from the politics.

Like the 250,000 preventable deadly medical mistakes that take place every year. WTF! But we don’t act like that’s a pandemic, and we should!

  39. Cainishere Says:

Sanitizer on gloves when a player comes to the sidelines or during time-outs. Allow for an extra 15 seconds of time out period to allow sanitizer to be distributed and used and to become effective.
If a player must spit, there should be a large garbage can just for that purpose.
If a player takes his hand to his face or engages in a competition with a possible infection risk, does so knowingly of the risk and cannot hold the Buccaneers or TSA responsible for your infection. Have fans sign a waiver to that same effect get a temp check and “Go Have Fun!”
No groups larger than 4 and only so many in rest rooms at a time and have them constantly cleaned while the cleaners must be fully suited. If groups are having problems listening and following the rules. they get removed. I am sure that you can generate a seating chart that will space people and as far as season ticket holders they should get the available premiere seating.
No Player-to-Fan contact meaning no signatures no pictures with fans
no handshakes fist bumps or ass pats allowed.
Just go on with your lives folks LOL GO BUCS!!

  40. mark2001 Says:

Bush…please do a little research. I checked out the herd immunity issue…to develop herd immunity for a virus this communicable would require exposure to about 90% of the population. And if the immunity doesn’t last more than four months for many, to expose everyone would be an unmitigated disaster. It would bankrupt our health care system, as well as many Americans, and overtax our medical professionals. Again…check it out…listen to the medical professionals. Pseudoscience, and out the backside speculation will get many innocent people killed.

  41. adam from ny Says:

they must expand the practice squads to about 25 players if that’s feasible…

if the season goes forward with no vaccine, then teams are gonna have to play “mix and match” all season long…

go into camp with like 90…

and cut like a dozen dudes before the season…

sounds crazy but it might have to go like this…

teams carrying like 75 players might be the “new normal” for a minute

  42. Steven007 Says:

Bush, when you can ‘free think” your way into a normal NFL season, please thrill us all with your acumen.

  43. SOEbuc Says:

    Bonzai

Hoping if we can be first on their not set yet calendar. Of course this happens to the Bucs.

  44. Buc50 Says:

Coronavirus is not a flu like Rhinovirus is not a flu virus. This is worse than your typical flu and there may not be a permanent vaccine. The ignorance here is not surprising given the current leadership of our country.

  45. D-Rome Says:

    This virus is a hoax.

Which part is the hoax? Is the virus itself a hoax and it doesn’t exist? Is high levels of unemployment the hoax? Are crowded ICUs in hospitals all across the country the hoax? I have no issue with anyone debating the appropriate response but to call it a hoax is very problematic. You are part of the problem when you call it a hoax.

If the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior then there’s going to be another shutdown in this country and the NFL season will be cancelled. If there isn’t another shutdown then we need to be asking our leaders at all levels of government why we shut down in the first place and ruin tens of millions of lives.

I don’t think there will be an NFL season.

  48. Tvan101 Says:

CDC says 99.6 percent of people recover, we need to face it head on. Florida never really closed and it didnt turn into a disaster. Food for thought.

  49. unbelievable Says:

To those of you still calling it a hoax- at this point, you’re simply a moron. It’s as simple as that.
