“It’s A Whole Change Of Mindset”

June 9th, 2020

Are the Bucs feeling Tom Brady’s impact already?

Would it extend in early June to a backup defensive tackle?

It seems the answer is a resounding, Yes!

Soak in the roughly 90-second video below from WFLA-TV shot at a gym in Tampa. Gabrielle Shirley caught up to Rakeem Nuñez-Roches, who is in his third year on the Bucs’ defensive line after three years with Andy Reid and the Chiefs. So he’s seen his share of NFL locker rooms.

Nuñez-Roches explains that Tom Brady on the roster now means “it’s a whole change of mindset.”

Those are very powerful words considering Bucco Bruce Arians arrived last year with a seasoned staff and high expectations.

Those expectations have been kicked up, Nuñez-Roches added, noting he and his teammates’ games have to rise along with them.

Looks like a pretty good workout to me…..let’s hope all Bucs are staying in good shape….that is one worry……injuries in TC because of inconsistent training.

  3. StonedBuc Says:

That’s a dawg right there hell yeah! Love the attitude! Always thought him and gholston were good depth players

  4. SOEbuc Says:

Returning defense dying to get on the field with Brady. Lavonte could go from not one playoff appearance to a Super Bowl win 🙂

  5. Bojim Says:

Dont get hurt trying for personal records.

  6. BuucccNASTY Says:

Personal records in the off-season help achieve personal records in-season. It’s that kinda mindset that helps differentiate between the winners and losers.

  7. Hodad Says:

When you’re a back up DT, and the Bucs drafted a DT, you better not care who the QB is! Dude, you need to change your mindset. Work hard to stay in the league, let alone on the team.

  8. ModHairKen Says:

    Dog abuser.

  9. Bucnjim Says:

The lack of on the field leadership is why this team has been in a decade long downward spiral. With JPP, Suh and David on defense we needed solid leadership on offense. The organization went out and brought in two of the best available Brady & Gronk. Are they in their prime? No but they are two salty field generals who do not except losing in any way shape or form.

  10. Clean House Says:

Tired of hearing this….Why didn’t these guys all have the proper mindset before TB? Was it all the fault of Jameis? These guys can’t think for themselves? Did the posers hall of fame coach self proclaimed whisperer not whisper sweet nothings in their ears? Are they not professionals?
The answer is because they suck and they can’t win. Not joining the AARP bandwagon tour-

    7-9 tops

  11. Joe in Michigan Says:

    7-9? Hahahaha, okay.

You probably picked last year’s Bucs to go 2-13-1 because Beckles told you so.

  12. Kord Says:

Damn clean house, maybe getting off the field knowing your qb is gonna throw a pick or screw it up somehow every drive might take it out of a defense, now they have the goat, change mindset, get the hell outta here with that 7-9 talk

  13. DoooshLaRue Says:

Sure looks like old Gummy 93 was having fun in that pic!
That’s what it’s all about now.
    Wins?
    Nah…… I’m having fun!

    93….. gone
    5……..gone

    Now bring the wins on!

  14. Stanglassman Says:

Cord- That would be a great point if Jameis had thrown 30 interceptions or even close to that his first 4 seasons. But that’s not the case. Jameis regardless of who he plays for just do to his aggressive style is going to throw around 15 Ints a season. Just like he did with the Bucs the first 4 seasons. In return you will get a Qb who finished top 5 in yards and points scored.

  15. Tampabuscsbro Says:

LOL the winston defense force at it again.

Did you guys hear what he said today? “‘I’m one of the best quarterbacks to play the game’”

I am not saying the man is a headcase. But that is what a headcase would say to be a self proclaimed “one of the greatest of all time”. Does our new QB Tom Brady say that? Did you ever hear Brees say that? No not at all. This backup who lost his job is now the self proclaiming himself to be one of the best.

  16. Swampbuc Says:

Geraldine McCoy — setting the franchise back a decade by loving everyone, holding nobody accountable, telling Ben Roethlesgerger as he’s hitting him on MNF “my bad” and never — NEVER — making a game changing play when it mattered.

Softie defines the Bucs lost decade.

I believe the unconfirmed reports that JPP went off on Geraldine for tapping himself out.

Good riddance. Much better with Suh .

  17. Clean House Says:

He must have learned it from Coach BS
    The self proclaimed whisperer
Maybe JW should call BS’s book publisher

  18. Tampabuscsbro Says:

    LOL

See the issue with all the nutthuggers like the one above. Even if Arians was as much or anywhere near the pathological liar he says he is. ITS ALWAYS SOMEONE OR SOMETHING ELSE. Nothing is ever his fault.

  19. Cainishere Says:

In the beginning there were hopeful dreams and old men who loved football. Then there was an orange football team named the Buccaneers, in Tampa no doubt.
Through heatwaves and thunderstorms, these old men would watch those
curious Orangemen. No offense to be found but a defense with huge pride is what these old men received for years coming close once but damn the Rams.
Then years of worthless play from the Orangemen built a tradition of
“losing properly” to the old men who watched and paid money for it too.
Why, a Buccaneer appearance on a team schedule was almost a guaranteed win.
The old men became accustomed to the losing life and fell in love with a perennial loser year in and year out.
Then one day, everything changed. The Orangemen became very mean on defense and won a Super bowl ripping apart almost every team seen.
Then the old men died and the curse returned for almost 20 years.
Now, we have this team. The old men would have been proud.
The team spirit is up sky high and the expectations are massive. Be good to your Bucs. This may take a minute to perfect. GO BUCS!!!!

  20. Clean House Says:

Tampabucsbro- no actually this is what is like hearing all the JW detractors always blaming him not seeing the vast upside.

Jameis has some serious issues to resolve, but got kicked to the curb in spite of leading the league in passing. Obviously, he is one of the best in certain categories. Constant constant finger pointing-

Guess what, much of the team has sucked for years. Not all jWs fault

    Coaching especially included

Coaching, kicking, running, penalties, secondary, drafting.

Disgusting how BS and Licht make him the scape goat

Will they make the goat the new scape goat when he’s out of juice?

Count on it- then BS rides into the sunset-earned his regal retirement

Maybe Hall of fame worthy, according to all of his leaguewide groupthink lemming worshipers in the press- fickle and dumb

The best part, Licht can certainly pass the blame- Well glazers I got the best coach ever and the goat in his swan song

Give the guy a lifetime contract and a lifetime achievement award

    He’s very crafty

  21. Stanglassman Says:

We all know what Drew Brees said this week and it was more embarrassing than Jameis believing in himself. One thing I can say for positive for Drew is that he listened to some friends and learned from his mistakes.

  22. Cainishere Says:

You guys who are so devoted to Jameass Winsnone kill me.
You guys literally believe Jameass did nothing wrong as a Buccaneer and didn’t deserve to be let go.
Do you really think anything would have changed in the 6th year of his contract?
Let’s go through all I have read from you Winsnone weirdos.
“He had three different coaches to learn from” Only Dirk used a different game plan than the other two.
All three coaches used a vanilla watered down offense so that Jameass’s limited knowledge could digest.
The Bucs couldn’t even bring in competition for winsnone because he couldn’t handle it.
Here is another one, “Jameass is a real leader but isn’t getting the respect he deserves”. That is a joke. That jackass showed his ass constantly, doing some of the STUPIDEST things ever. Stealing crab legs, dancing on desks,
getting in people’s faces, blaming them for mistakes then going out and throwing the game away himself. Not even respecting his own wife getting caught fondling a Uber driver. Those nasty foul looking W’s he would eat on his fingers.
I still get sick looking at that. OMG HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE?
I for one am so happy he is gone and hope we never get anything as trashy as he is ever again. He is the only Buccaneer I give no respect to and CHEER that he is gone YAY!!!! Chew on that you Winsnone lovers.

  23. Destinjohnny Says:

This guy is a solid player
    And I love his heart

  24. Cainishere Says:

I meant Arians not dirk in my last comment. Arians used a different offense than the rest but it still was watered down so that Jameass could somewhat handle it. Eh he doesn’t even deserve anymore words. Go Bucs!!!!

  25. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Cainishere – well said on both posts.

This comment section gets ruined by trolls and people who think Winston never did anything wrong. Somehow in year 6 he would magically turn it on. Jameis had Dirk for 4 years and Arians for one year. you guys act like he had to learn a brand new system every year when he only really had to do that Twice his rookie year and last year.

  26. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Also the dude that did no wrong is literally calling himself an all time great. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW IFFY THE OPTICS ARE WHEN YOU SAY THAT ABOUT YOURSELF. Like I would respect it if he said I know I can be better I am here to get better. But no outright an all time great.

Is Brady on his new team calling himself an all time great?

  27. SB Says:

Witch way is it to albuquerque ?

  28. Cainishere Says:

Thanks for the kind words. My brother Kacey showed me this site and I love it.
The thought process for some of the posts about Winsnone are so confusing they make no sense. It is as if the people are wearing blinders.
If you folks remember my nephew little Kacey went to the 2019 draft and stood at the podium and selected Devin White. He has since passed away RIP!. He received a contract from the Buccaneers to join the team. Well I read the contract these players sign. I put Jameass in place and read the fine print. They expect you to conduct yourself cleanly while in the NFL and a member of the Buccaneers.
Jameass did not live up to his contract in that regard.
Sure he threw for thousands of yards He loses in style.
He is a true “Paper Champion” in every sense of the word.
Do you remember his College championship game?
OMG DID YOU JUST SEE THAT?
I will never forget the day when the 2015 draft began and The Bucs selected him. MY brother Kacey’s exact words were “Well the Bucs just purchased 5 losing seasons”! RESULTS? CORRECT!! So sad.
I truly believe he lost some games on purpose out of immature anger! RESULTS? FIRED! Yes he is the best just check your sheet
    LMAO YOU GUYS KILL ME!

  29. Bucsfanman Says:

“Scapegoating” eh?! That’s an interesting perspective given the facts actually point to the sole proprietor of the most TOs in the league over the same 5 year tenure. Yep, that’s BA’s fault. SMH!
I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to accept that Jameis just was not the guy….but, but, “potential”!

The one thing we forget about BA coming to the Bucs is that the culture here needed change. While it may not have translated to the scoreboard last year, you can start to see the subtle changes in personnel and expectations. Changing the culture is probably the single-most difficult task BA faces. IMO.

  30. MRRR Says:

So Jameis thinks he’s one of the best. The rest of the NFL thinks he’s a third string QB. He wanted $30 million per year. He got $1.1 million. He’s a dreamer.

  31. Pewter Power Says:

Yea you just really don’t want to say what it means, Winston came with low expectations with all the turnovers, add Brady now bucs feel they have a fighting chance
