Greater Preseason Emphasis For Tom Brady
June 3rd, 2020The Buccaneers’ August just got more interesting.
The NFL ruled yesterday that teams are prohibited from having preseason “joint practices,” the term for when clubs practice against other teams. The Bucs and Jaguars were scheduled to engage at One Buc Palace for two sessions prior to their preseason showdown at the Den of Depression on Aug. 22.
Joint practices were a staple of Bill Belicheat and the Patriots, and Bucco Bruce Arians has said he loves them, noting the scripted work is more efficient and nobody’s allowed to hit the quarterback.
Well, now that option is gone, wiped out by fears of The Sickness.
Joe is certain this means we’ll see more of Tom Brady in preseason. Brady is not a preseason ghost like other veteran quarterbacks, but Brady played very little last year and he isn’t often seen in Week 1 of the August exhibitions.
That’s about to change after no spring practices with new teammates, no joint sessions and probably some other wacky restrictions we haven’t heard of yet.

If players are tested prior to practices or games and are deemed Covid 19 free then how can they contract the virus after the fact? Doesn’t make any sense. I thought it was a matter of just taking a temperature? Same thing goes for this social distancing. If everyone test negative then why must they wear mask or keep 6 feet apart?

Interesting decision. Either way, Tom is pretty much the last of our worries. I know how hard it can be to let go of worrying about the QB play. We’ve been like that for most of our existence in TB.
He’s got this.
In BA I Trust!

It’s all about Brady getting reps with this team is fine by me.

Two options you can do to start your season on time. If you have ever noticed a Dirt Bike helmet you will notice the face protectors over the mouth. They look pretty badass and could be retrofitted to attach behind the facemask. As far as stadiums half-full all wearing their team’s logo mask. temp checks at the door.
When a player comes to the sideline he must sanitize his hands if bare.
Go BUCS!!!

Heck Racing Car helmet style isn’t a bad choice either. It already exists

I don’t understand the league’s decision. The Bucs and Jags can’t practice together, yet they are to PLAY A GAME TOGETHER two days later? I’m baffled as to the logic.

This is ridiculous…..they can play together but can’t practice together.
Many are making a great deal about us having a new QB……but at least we don’t have a new coach or any new coaches for that matter…
Plus…..all 11 of our starting Defense is back along with adding a Safety.
Our offense is in tact…..the only replacement is Dotson…..the addition of Gronk as a TE……all else is stable.
I believe the experience of Brady will overcome the obstacles.

What sickness are you talking about?
June 3rd, 2020 at 5:37 pm
The Sickness is sooo…yesterday.
It was two crises ago.
We’ve had Murdwr Hornets and riots since then.
In two weeks we’re either gonna have a LOT of sick young Democrats, or The Sickness is not all it was cracked up to be.
I predict the next terrible crisis will be a new Nickelback album…

It’s because symptoms do not appear immediately. People are contagious for up to 5 days before a fever shows. And the virus is not immediately detectable by test either.
In other words, you can show no symptoms, test fine at 9 am, have no contact, and then test positive hours later.

Cobraboy, it isn’t gone yet.
Also, Tropical Storm Cristabal is entering the Gulf.

I don’t see the point in whining over the lack of joint practices. What I care about are the games. Joint practices mean next to nothing to me.

Bonzai, in two weeks we will see if CV19 was hype or disaster.
My $$$ is on hype.
June 4th, 2020 at 11:11 pm
@ Jean Lafitte – Don’t forget, there is a difference between testing negative and being Asymptomatic. Asymptomatic people can carry it to others and not have a fever. Those people generally don’t appear sick at all.
I hope that we have football- it’d be a shame for this particular Bucs off-season to be wasted.

When 4 people are killed in a week during a actual war there is outrage. When over a hundred thousand Americans die in 3 months to a virus it seems like nobody cares and they try to make it seem like its nothing.
@ Cobraboy- Exactly what part of the 100 thousand plus dead Americans to this virus was hype? The number as of today was 101,192 in total in America. This does not include the people who have it and have not been tested, nor does it include people who had it and died without being tested due to it causing preexisting conditions to finish them off. They don’t waste test kits on dead people when they struggle to get them for the living.
Here’s the thing- you need to protect yourself- but even if YOU don’t care or don’t think its a problem you MUST remember that your actions could cause you to get it, and spread it to people who cant fight it off. I couldn’t live with myself if I contracted it, was Asymptomatic or not, and spread it to others who would suffer at the very least – and maybe even die.
