Ke’Shawn Vaughn Talks Rookie Meetings

May 18th, 2020

Ke’Shawn Vaughn was the eighth running back drafted this year and that sticks in his mind.

“Of course, chips are stacked on my shoulder right now, ” he told Karen Loftus of WFLA-TV last week.

The Bucs’ third-round pick shared a few nuggets of note, such as he “modeled” his game, in part, after Alvin Kamara, and that he’s confident he made big strides as a pass catcher during the past two seasons at Vanderbilt.

Vaughn said he likes how the rookie class appears locked in during virtual rookie meetings, which kicked off last week. However, Vaughn made it seem like not much is happening during those sessions.

“We’ve been going every day this week for about an hour,” Vaughn said. “It’s kind of just, you know, just talking. We had some guests on talking to us. It’s kind of just locker room talk, things that rookies should be aware of coming into the league and getting kind of used to each other.”

Mike Evans and Dare Ogunbowale have reached out to Vaughn, he said, but he added that he thinks it’ll really feel like he’s in the NFL when he gets on a practice field.

I think there is a good bit riding on this guy and the evaluation Licht gave him. As I knew nothing about him I have no idea if he is a good or poor pick but I’m rooting for him.

  2. Casual Observer Says:

I’ve watched some of his film. He looks like he doesn’t go down very easily. A tough runner. We’ll see.

Vanderbilt’s offensive line just couldn’t pave the way in the run game, as they finished with the lowest run-blocking grade as a unit this season. Their pass protection wasn’t much better either, as they ended the season ranked 122nd in pass-blocking grade after giving up pressure at the nation’s 16th-highest rate.

Realist don’t go away mad… just go away. Please.

  6. lowercaseg Says:

If his pass protection/blitz pick ups/ball security are solid I have no fear. Those are my concerns with Rojo. I like both tho.

Realp!ss is just playing the odds.

Look at the last 15 years.

Realp!ss knows that there is a chance the Bucs crash & burn. If they do…he’ll say he was right all the time. You know, like he was some Hairless Potty wizard that could see into the future. After 15 years of Bucs crashing and burning, you don’t have to be a wizard…just a hopeful Buc fan.

What Realp!ss won’t factor in is the excitement and fun that this years Bucs will bring to the Real Fans win or lose. It’s his loss.

  10. Mike Says:

If you consider that he had no help and was the offense for his team, and the fact that he played against some of toughest competition in the SEC, and still put up good numbers, you can just see his eyes light up when he gets on the field with a great offense and has a chance to really shine! I’m excited to see him on the field along with RoJo!

  11. Oneilbucs Says:

Bruce Airans is a fraud go ask Payton Manning about Bruce Arians and Clyde who coached him to a 100 interceptions his first 5 years even with 2 hall of fame runningbacks .

  12. AwShbucs Says:

Realist shouldn’t you be riding Smitty’s jock?

  13. D1 Says:

    Oneilbucs,

One big problem with what you said, Arians only coached him for 3yrs

. 2 of which were pro bowl years and 1 all pro.

In years 2 and 3 He threw as many interceptions as winston threw last year.

Then there’s this issue, Arians was the QB coach not the offensive coordinator.

    You’re fountain of misinformation. .lol….

  14. Geno711 Says:

    @Oneilbucs makes me laugh

Manning on April 20th. “Tom’s going down to get coached by guys that I’m familiar with, guys that know football, love football.”

Ben Roethlisberger. “I knew who he was going to play for in Bruce Arians. He’s going to enjoy the heck out of that because he was fun to play for.”

Carson Palmer on May 5 2020. “I remember watching the film and loving the concepts. Its a copy cat league … we would pull plays from” Ariabs Pittsburgh offense when I was at Cincinnati.

  15. Oneilbucs Says:

Why did Bruce Arians get fired from Pittsburgh ?? Because his playbook was getting big Ben killed .

  16. Oneilbucs Says:

Geno711 We all know that Bruce was the quarterback coach and Clyed was the OC . But they are still responsible for some of those picks . Brady was bless to go to a system like New England were every quarterback looks good in . A dink and dunk type of offense a game manager . That’s why New England has never blew out any team in the superbowl . They always won while Brady was on the side line all but 1 game and the defense held them to 28 . The Falcons wanted Ryan to be the MVP instead of running the ball and closing out the game . But Payton still had a 100 interceptions under Bruce and Clyde . And you brought up Plamer and he had a great running game and Payton had 2 hall of fame runningbacks . You see I bring up facts yall bring emotions .

  17. teacherman777 Says:

His highlights dont include broken tackles. Just open lanes and TD’s.

    He ran a 4.51.

I wouldn’t draft a RB unless he ran a 4.4 personally. And I wouldnt draft a RB that can’t break tackles.

    But time will tell.

  18. TOM Says:

    Barber clone.

  19. K2 Says:

teacherman777 has a point Alvin Kamara ran a 4.56 at the combine…he’s a total loser. And Clyde Edwards-Helaire ran a 4.60 and was taken in the first round. Apparently, these GMs know nothing about football and drafting talent.
