Changing The Franchise
May 13th, 2020The Bucs have the man who has the most rings in NFL history, park-violating, home-invading quarterback Tom Brady. So the Bucs are no longer the Bucs, right?
With Brady on the roster, has the franchise changed? Stud Bucs receiver Mike Evans believes Brady will make it happen.
This was the topic of conversation with the gang of “Good Morning Football,” seen weekday mornings on NFL Network.
Former NFL receiver Nate Burleson absolutely believes so. As much as he liked Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, Burleson believes Brady will show Evans and his offensive weapons how much was left on the field last year.
Closet Bucs fan Peter Schrager said Brady forces the nation to pay attention to the Bucs, whether they like it or not.
Kyle Brandt said Brady helps make the offense cool and dared anyone to confess in public they ever owned a jersey of Josh Freeman, Mike Glennon or Chris Simms.
America’s “It” girl, Kay Adams, isn’t buying. She thinks it is cool and all that Brady gives the Bucs star power like they’ve never had and that everyone is stoked about the move. But Adams asked, “Did Michael Jordan change the Wizards?”
Joe likes what Schrager and Brandt were pushing and admits Adams has a helluva point. That’s what makes this fun drama: Can Brady pull off the unthinkable?
You can watch the full segment in the NFL Network video below.
“It changes everything.” 👀
What does the addition of @TomBrady to the @Buccaneers mean? 👇

What other talent was on the Wizards roster when Jordan arrived? (I am not a Basketball fan so I really don’t know) The offense is stacked with talent that he never had the likes of in New England. Brady doesn’t need to be a world beater in Tampa. He just needs to be competent and protect the football.
May 13th, 2020 at 9:12 am
The problem with calling Brady park violating and home invading just in the intro is that when he’s mentioned again later I forgotten about his indiscretions. I vote you use the full moniker with every mention of Brady throughout the article lest we forget.

May 13th, 2020 at 9:23 am
“Can he do it?”
I don’t know if he can..but looking at her…yeah, she could do about anything.
May 13th, 2020 at 9:28 am
The “real” fans do not think the old goat has enough to overcome ole stale biscuit!!!!!!!!!!!!! If by somehow Brady does drag bruce arrogance to a playoff game, that would be considered a larger feat that the 6 superbowl championships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it will be to many coaching mistakes and sloppy play and penalties, due to the lack of attention from ole stale biscuit!!!!!!!!!! But he curses and drinks, and lies with tough talk in his media tours, which is many because ole stale biscuit loves the camera more than she-mc93 did, so the sheep will be waving their pompoms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s time to herd the sheep, and put them back in the pen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 13th, 2020 at 9:32 am
Well I dunno about the wizards and mj, but this team assuredly had made an upgrade at starting quarterback, even at 43 no one can deny hes an upgrade over Jameis. Does that equal more wins, I’d think so, this season depends largely on injuries and the defense.
May 13th, 2020 at 9:37 am
Hey Joe, from a loyal reader. Can you knock off the nickname stuff? The only good one you have had is “Sabby the goat”. Give us a break, PLEASE.
May 13th, 2020 at 10:18 am
Joe isn’t going to change his nickname ways unless he loses a lawsuit for defamation, which could happen but the Buccaneers or Tom Brady would have to bring such a lawsuit. Here’s hoping the Buccaneers at least revoke his press credentials and keep him away from official Buccaneers operations and events. This is so silly; Joe doesn’t know where to begin. If the Bucs want to pull Joe’s credentials for common adjectives, then that’s fine with Joe. Brady himself poked fun at his antics, multiple times on social media and on NFL.com during the draft. Heck, his peers and NFL Network talent did the same thing. –Joe
Again this is what he accuses Tom Brady of doing:
Under Florida Statute 812.135, the crime of Home Invasion Robbery is committed when a person enters a dwelling with the intent to unlawfully take money or property from the occupants through the use of force, violence, assault, or threat. … Dictionary definitions are not legal babble. And there’s something called fun and satire. Again, you’re really being silly here. Joe suggests you email your concerns to Buccaneers officials. Many of them are less busy than usual now.–Joe
Not even tongue in cheek should you accuse someone of a first degree felony, but…….there it is.
May 13th, 2020 at 10:26 am
I love this rhetoric about forever changing the franchise. One question, Peyton Manning went to the Denver Broncos and yes he won a Super Bowl great job, but how did that change a franchise forever? What do they do right afterwards, oh that’s right nothing they’re back to being trash. Changing the franchise forever is crap this is a 2-year window and that’s it people don’t fool yourselves.
May 13th, 2020 at 10:45 am
This vid was so disappointing.
Not enough close ups of Kay.
May 13th, 2020 at 10:57 am
NDog – you have lost your way… “yes he won a Super Bowl” “but how did that change the franchise forever? Seriously, you are in a bad spot. I can’t even wrap my head around that thought without hysterically laughing.
Wow!
In BA I Trust!
May 13th, 2020 at 10:58 am
Do you really care what Kay Adams thinks?
May 13th, 2020 at 11:21 am
Well then here is the actual state statute in question and this is not legal babble, it is state law.
The 2019 Florida Statutes
Title XLVI
CRIMESChapter 812
THEFT, ROBBERY, AND RELATED CRIMES
812.135 Home-invasion robbery.—
Sir or ma’am, look up definition of invade. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/invade You’ll find a definition completely accurate and appropriate to what happened.–Joe
May 13th, 2020 at 11:29 am
Still agree with some other posters…we’ll pretend the “America’s QB” was never used before if you want to start applying in to Tom Brady. I mean 6th round pick who becomes the 6 SB ring wearing GOAT, what’s more American than that sort of underdog triumph story? Please take the mulligan and use the moniker where it actually belongs now that the Bucs actually have “America’s QB” on the roster (heck we get 5 prime time games in 2020 because America wants to see TB12!)
May 13th, 2020 at 11:31 am
And I did email the Buccaneers community relations and expressed my concerns that someone who supposedly covers the team could so quickly denigrate by implication, some would say defame, the teams newest money maker.
But it’s up to them to care. Good, it’s important for fans to voice any and all concerns with the team. Well done. –Joe
May 13th, 2020 at 11:39 am
Pete…these sports guys are public figures. The standard to prove defamation… Slander or Liable…. is much higher regarding them, and normally has to involve some intentional motive and reckless disregard to hurt them, as I remember from my Bus Law classes at good old ISU.
I’ve had quite a few law classes but no lawyer. Maybe one of the lawyers on this board could elucidate further or correct any error on my part… but Joe has never done any of this to harm a player.
May 13th, 2020 at 11:40 am
Pete I
Man you are on the war path!
I don’t think anything will change Joe’s childish obsession with TRYING to be clever…… but if it does, I think a lot of us will want to buy you something really nice!
May 13th, 2020 at 11:41 am
It’s really annoying because otherwise this is a fantastic site.
May 13th, 2020 at 11:43 am
The problem with the nicknames is the double standard….
Jameis didn’t get “crableg stealin’, crotch grabbin'”…..he got America’s Quarterback….
Brady didn’t get “6 time SB Winner”…..he gets “park violating, home invading”
May 13th, 2020 at 11:48 am
It’s about team and leadership, and a belief in the team.
Sorry, Winston sycophants, he was a very poor leader, and few believed he would take the Bucs into the playoffs with his constant turnovers.
Brady brings belief because his record says he knows how to win. His teammates will listen.
Actions/Results > Mouth
The Bucs have had far too much of the latter for far too long.
May 13th, 2020 at 11:49 am
Pete I – I also wrote to Bucs Community Relations. And some of Joe’s website sponsors. Thank you. Joe encourages that at all times. –Joe
May 13th, 2020 at 11:49 am
Joe’s “disrespect” draws angry eyes, and a lot of angry eyes draws advertisers.
I understand their game. Nobody comes here to read nicknames. Nobody returns because of nicknames. And certainly nobody buys advertising as a result of nicknames. The archives are there for anyone to see Joe has used many adjectives for Brady, including The Goat, etc. –Joe
May 13th, 2020 at 11:56 am
Cobra…yeah… it is a sports entertainment business. Steve Duemig made that crystal clear one time when he just kept saying…yeah, the Bucs are great on one of his programs. I didn’t always agree with him, but yeah…he was entertaining and whatever he didn’t know, he had guests that did. The point being that he isn’t a cheerleader…that is ultimately boring. The team has cheerleaders for that. Informative and entertaining…bingo.
May 13th, 2020 at 12:04 pm
If it is possible for a QB to change a franchise, Brady is the best u for the job..
He has the resume, the rings, the experience to look back on as to how he got to 9 Super Bowls and why they lost 3 of them as well as won 6… What it takes to win season after season after season and be consistently in the playoffs ( yes,, I to see the AFC as weak in team competition BUT he still beat the best NFC team that year 6 times)…
After a litany of pitiful coaches and horific QB choices wasted years (over a decade), this team may be in it’s best position to change the culture if it will ever be changed!
May 13th, 2020 at 12:14 pm
I am a lawyer Mark and you are correct about the bar being higher and you would need to prove damages, that still doesn’t mean that someone should be accused, over and over again of a first degree felony.
But some people think it’s funny I guess or just an adjective.
Wonder what adjective Joe would use for rapist? Or Murderer?
May 13th, 2020 at 12:19 pm
The definition of home invasion is not in the dictionary as it is a criminal act and not simply words.
You can erase the Florida Statutes but they still exist and the level of seriousness the state of Florida assigns such a heinous crime is clear.
I just wanted you to know what act you have assigned Tom Brady and it is not a Merriam Webster definition. Again, legal definitions and everyday speech are two different things. –Joe
May 13th, 2020 at 12:29 pm
Not in a court room Joe, not in a court room.
May 13th, 2020 at 12:30 pm
Pete:
Please do copy Joe the cease-and-desist letter you send Peyton Manning for telling Brady to his (Zoom) face he was slapped with a “B&E” (breaking and entering) charge.
Oh, but Manning can claim people committed felonies because… he played in the league, right?
Oh, good!
Which ring are we supposed to kiss when we double-genuflect in Brady’s presence?
Last Joe checked, Brady actually did walk into someone’s home uninvited. And Joe WILL NOT stop using this so either get used to it or don’t read Brady stories on this site. Your call.
May 13th, 2020 at 12:33 pm
Why? What has that to do with anything?
Don’t try to be clever admin, leave that to Joe, he needs all the practice he can get.
B & E – hahahahahahahaha
May 13th, 2020 at 12:39 pm
I second Kmattin – enough with the nickname stuff. Its very annoying trying to read an article and have to sift through all of that.
May 13th, 2020 at 12:39 pm
And yes you can be forced to stop using it. Just like you can be evicted, incarcerated, and found libel for any number of things.
Just requires the correct paper signed by the correct parties.
May 13th, 2020 at 12:55 pm
HOW BOUT A POLL????? This is America, freedom of speech yada yada yada… but come on Joe, you’re rubbing a lot of people the wrong way. What do you say. Let’s go… TOM BRADY NICKNAME POLL. LET THE PEOPLE BE HEARD!!!! If the vote goes your home invasion direction, then so be it!!!🇺🇸
This isn’t politics. Joe isn’t about to operate based on opinion surveys. If that were the case, “Joe” would have dropped the “Joe” thing long ago. Every day people like and don’t like what appears here. It’s ok.–Joe
May 13th, 2020 at 1:01 pm
ndog
it changes NFL history FOREVER!!!!
you are FOREVER a CHAMPION!!!!!…
your TEAM will FOREVER be in the record books!!!!!
your TEAM will FOREVER have a lombardy trophy!!!!!!
JW will be a BUST!!!FOREVER!!!!!!
GTFOH!!!!!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
May 13th, 2020 at 1:04 pm
BUC CHEEK – I don’t like the ridiculous rhetoric either but some of you are acting just like the government, trying to tell Joe how to run his own business…
If you like it, show up, if you don’t then forget it ever existed…
Not one of you would want others to constantly tell you how to run your own business… that’s what makes it his and not yours…
your ‘control freak’ is showing… LoL
May 13th, 2020 at 1:06 pm
c’mon fellas…lol…
imo, joe dogged other players with nicknames and i havent seen people talking about going to Community Relations…lol…
but it is what it is…lol…do what you gotta do…lol…
GO BUCS!!!!
May 13th, 2020 at 1:23 pm
Other nicknames didn’t suggest the person was committing a serious felony.
And no one is telling Joe what to do with his business.
May 13th, 2020 at 1:24 pm
Joe take a poll about home invasion brady
May 13th, 2020 at 1:29 pm
Sorry on ^^the above^^^, I left out the blockquote closure HTTP tag.
This is MY comment, not Joes:
Mea Culpa, and apologies to the Joes.
May 13th, 2020 at 1:41 pm
I am so glad I’m getting a legal education here. Someday I may go to law school and prosecute homicides and serious felonies and if I do, I have Pete to thank.
I’m not sure I’ve ever read as much reactionary garbage in my life. It’s satire and if you don’t like it, don’t go on this site. Problem solved.
May 13th, 2020 at 1:44 pm
To many lawyers now Rob and given your thoughts on satire the legal field isn’t for you.
May 13th, 2020 at 1:56 pm
“To many lawyers now Rob and given your thoughts on satire the legal field isn’t for you.”
Thanks Pete. I’ll be sure to keep that in mind.
May 13th, 2020 at 2:27 pm
@TYE
My control freak is showing?! Lmfao! Really, by putting it to a vote?! Ok nutjob
May 13th, 2020 at 2:33 pm
Im sorry, I forgot the comments section was for the usual suspects spitting the sane damn BS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN?!!! You know who you are!
May 13th, 2020 at 2:37 pm
I like the nicknames lol
May 13th, 2020 at 2:53 pm
My 2 cents…
i don’t care at all what humorous nicknames Joe wants to preface his commentary with… my only thought was that I hope the QB feels the same way because Im looking forward to “Joe” having a good relationship with our QB and some cool interviews this year
May 13th, 2020 at 2:53 pm
Would you snowflakes please stop the whining about nicknames? No one is forcing you to come to this website and you are acting like little girls. And, Pete, no one is impressed with your law degree. That doesn’t make you know what you’re talking about. Read up on communication law.
May 13th, 2020 at 3:54 pm
I’m the furthest thing from a snowflake and will reiterate ….. it’s just stupid.
May 13th, 2020 at 6:07 pm
The Jordan/Wizards analogy is a terrible one.
Basketball requires EXPLOSIVENESS in order to create your own shots as well as to play effective defense. It also requires ENDURANCE to run up and down the court and maintain that mobility at all times.
The QB position is very different. It’s not one of endurance, and not one that requires explosiveness (unless you rely on scrambling). Arm strength can diminish and you can still be effective with decent velocity if you have good accuracy.
Explosiveness & endurance is what aging athletes start to lose.
Look at MIKE TYSON, for example, and him trying to make a comeback. His POWER and much of his handspeed won’t be a problem. For him it’s more of his ENDURANCE and not getting gassed. It’s harder and takes longer to recover (from an oxygen standpoint) as an athlete gets older. This is exactly how Oscar DeLa Hoya began to fade in his career (which one could see the Mayweather fight he should have won)… he ran out of gas by the 10th round and could no longer press and work his jab, which was winning him the fight.
May 13th, 2020 at 6:17 pm
Ivan
Certainly agree with your analysis. I also feel that hoops and football are totally different sports.
In the NBA ONE player and certainly TWO can mean the difference in a title or even a run of titles. Two for sure…and if you can get three then like Golden State you dominate for that period.
Football…QB is the most important position but far from the ONLY position. He does touch the ball more than anybody else and so that makes the position unique. After that though there are times when the QB is not the “influencer.”
Sometimes game control does come from a dominant D…or a great RB on offense…ONE player…even TB12 cannot change a team on the field of action. However I do believe he can help change the culture.
May 13th, 2020 at 7:30 pm
Communication Law?
Hahahahahahahaha
May 13th, 2020 at 9:14 pm
Pete..perhaps just not come to JBF anymore.
I just solved your problem having to read such horrible things.
May 13th, 2020 at 9:17 pm

Yeah. Communication law. It’s what first year Journalism students learn about. Obviously, you know nothing about it.
May 14th, 2020 at 12:21 pm
Pete I Says:
“And I did email the Buccaneers community relations and expressed my concerns…”
.
.
LOL. I hope you put it on your “I’m a lawyer” letterhead.
May 14th, 2020 at 11:09 pm
Joe the double standard approach to nicknames is hurting the site… you did offer up a groper adjective for Blameless recently to even it up a little but why not just treat Brady with a loving moniker like you did Blameless for 5 years?
Sticking to the America’s Backup versus Home Invader is just silly and antagonistic to your loyal readers… you’re sounding like Ndog for goodness sake. I’m waiting for one of your defensive replies to include “FACTS” to justify the disrespectful “satire” of Brady’s name. Sad.
May 15th, 2020 at 12:10 am
WestChap:
The day Joe is not allowed –by who(m) exactly? — to not use satire and be all AP style is the day Joe sells this site.
And if people cannot understand satire, well, that’s not Joe’s problem.
