Report: Bucs’ First Four Games Vs. AFC West

May 6th, 2020

Roughly 24 hours before the 2020 NFL schedule is to be released, a little news has seeped out.

Per “The Professor,” John Clayton, who now freelances for a living, the NFL has a wrinkle built into its schedule this season in case games have to be canceled due to The Sickness.

Per Clayton, as reported on sports radio 93.7 FM in Pittsburgh, all teams will play non-conference games to start the season.

The Bucs, who play AFC West teams this year, are scheduled to host the Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, as well as the Los Angeles Chargers. The Bucs will play the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos on the road.

So if this report is accurate, and the season goes off without a hitch, those are your first four games of 2020.

    Ouch!

  2. I Bleed Pewter Says:

Tough draw but really interesting if we get KC first game on MNF. I wonder who Ira will root for?

  3. gp Says:

    Las Vegas here we come!

  4. Dewey Selmon Says:

Called it a couple of days ago. They wont start division play until after week 4 encase the season gets postponed a month. still a 12 game season with all 6 division games.

  5. Joe Says:

    Bleed:

Can’t. Chiefs host an NFC South team not named “Bucs” at Arrowhead on the Thursday night game to open the season. Besides, Chiefs playing in the Den of Depression this year.

So Bucs will host the Chiefs in either Weeks 2, 3, or 4.

  6. El Buco Realisto Says:

    0-4 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s time to herd the sheep, and put them back in the pen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Chris Says:

I’d absolutely hate to play the chiefs week one with no preseason and limited camp time.

  8. ModHairKen Says:

The schedule does not matter, even if they open up against KC. Big deal. Either they win or not.

There was enough whining about last year’s schedule for the next 100 seasons.

  9. Joe Says:

Don’t worry/not worry Ken. Bucs don’t play in Kansas City this year.

  10. Cainishere Says:

Hi folks. Nice comments. First, all teams will be affected the same in regards to the virus and scheduling. Some of you act as if it will be just the Bucs who miss all of the training. Also, it is unlikely that the season will be canceled. Delayed maybe but not canceled. Go BUCS!!!

  11. SB Says:

Hey Realist………….Stop fkin sheep and figure out where you want to be here.
No room for you if you still want to troll.

  12. Swampbuc Says:

    0-4

Maybe 1-3 to start after Tommy The Old gets injured in game one.

  13. StonedBuc Says:

Every division is a tough draw. Except maybe the afc east….

  14. JimmyJack Says:

Chiefs are the only team in that division that scares me. So I don’t think it would be a gruesome road to get to a 3-1 start.

Plus at least we get the Chiefs at home. I’ll take any advantage I can against them.

  15. JP09 Says:

@ el dipsh!t is wrong again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Joe Says:

    JJ:

Thinking the Broncos are going to sneak up on some. They added some seriously fast WRs, defense will be healthy (and Fanzio can coach up defenses), and Drew Lock played pretty well at the end of the year.

  17. IrishTony Says:

We’re 4-2 against the Chiefs all time at home. It will be 5-2 after this year.

  18. Kgh4life Says:

Every year when the schedule comes out, Joe and other Buc fans on this forum thinks every game is tough, the sky is not falling and the games are not played on paper. No team is the same from year to year, let’s all just relax.

  19. Pat Says:

    Weeks 1-4 AFC West
    Weeks 5-6 Giants, Rams
    Weeks 7-10 Bye and Division
    Weeks 11-14 NFC North
    Weeks 15-17 Division

  20. Pat Says:

The formula the NFL used this time

    Weeks 1-4 AFC West
    Weeks 5-6 Giants, Rams
    Weeks 7-10 Bye and Division
    Weeks 11-14 NFC North
    Weeks 15-17 Division

  21. AwShbucs Says:

Looks like we’re starting out 3-1!

  22. SteveK Says:

Can we sign Ted Ginn to return kicks and be a wr3/4?

  23. SC Bucs Fan Says:

SteveK probably not. He signed with the Bears.

  24. SteveK Says:

    Damn. Thanks.

  25. Mike Johnson Says:

Schedule don’t mean nothin, You say you wanna be the best? You gotta beat the best. I don’t want to hear the excuses of..Mr. Coulda/Woulda/Shoulda. Batter up Bucs. No Excuses. You went out and paid a guy 50 mil for 2 yrs and another 10 mil. I don’t wanna hear, If we only had….this season.

  26. Rob in Land O Lakes Says:

Opening at Vegas on Monday Night makes WAY too much sense for the NFL to pass up.

    1. First ever game in Vegas
    2. Chucky against the team he coached to beat his current team
    3. Brady and the old tuck rule against ANYTHING Raiders

  27. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah I won’t sleep on Denver. They generally make a lot of good decisions. One of them teams that may have a bad year or two here and there but they don’t usually stay bad for long periods of time like ours truely.

  28. WhoCares Says:

Sorry, I put this originally on the wrong thread. Plus I need NDOG to respond!

Actually I just figured out the true conspiracy behind the sickness. They had to Shut down all of the distraction in Tampa plus send us the GOAT (Not Satan, the QB) and to let us win another freaking Super Bowl…. In our crib!!!!

You heard it hear first folks. The NFL has achieved its global reach. The mother of all conspiracies has been revealed!.

    Your Welcome!!!

And NDog Im sorry about your boy. I love him too and actually support most of your reasoning. But just think about it bro. J Dub was a dead man walking. I mean they literally had to shut down the world to eliminate ALL OF THE DISTRACTIONS in Tampa as well as bring in the GOAT. All so we can have a Super Bowl and win it at home.

    Bet the house people….

Who wouldn’t trade braging rights anyday, for 10 years of Winston dominance!!! NDOG, what say you sir?

  29. JimmyJack Says:

That said Denver has really been struggling lately to find anything decent to play QB.

I haven’t seen Lock maybe he changes things but Im feeling their track record ever since Manning retired.

  30. Cainishere Says:

I am really surprised at some of the posts appearing here. It is as if some Bucs fans want us to do badly just so that they can say, “SEE!! TOLD YA”. We all know the Buccaneers will dominate teams heavily this year. Oh by the way. You talk like the Chiefs are unbeatable. Seriously, 12-4 last season were the Chiefs. 4 teams figured out they could beat the Chiefs so your thinking is unrealistic. 4 losses is not unbeatable folks. Go BUCS!!!

  31. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

I would rather play the AFC West teams early rather than later in the season. They all have good young talent so it will take awhile for them to get, especially with a limited off season. We could go 3-1 in our first 4 games and be on our way.

  32. Tackleblockwin Says:

    3-1 to start the season.

  33. Buczilla Says:

If this is true, then I am cool with it. Coming out of that 4 game stretch, 3-1 is very doable, but 2-2 more likely. I’m hoping that we put a serious curb stomping on Gruden though. If he maybe had a little less ego and kept out of personnel matters a bit more, he could have retired as a HOF coach with us. It’s a shame really, but I still appreciate what he did accomplish with us.

  34. Rayjay1122 Says:

    4-0…..
    . bring em on!

  35. unbelievable Says:

I’m fine with it if that’s the case.

Obviously a lot of East to West travel those first couple of weeks but who cares? Traveling can bring the team together as we’ve seen from having a better away record vs. home the last few years.

Re: the lack of offseason affecting all teams equally, that’s really not true. I’d say the amount of turnover / new players will be the biggest factor, BECAUSE of the lack of offseason. So a new QB certainly counts as a lot of turnover.

Fortunately, it would appear that so far most of our defense and about half the offense will be the same as last year. But QB is obviously huge as someone who touches the ball every offensive snap.

  36. Aceofaerospace Says:

    Bring it. All in.

  37. 941bucsfan Says:

no excuses. Superbowl or you wasted my time and money

  38. VegasBuc Says:

Best thing that could happen other than open up Allegiant Stadium in Vegas is to play the SB Champs. They won’t be at their best, catch em on a SB hangover, playing on the same terms of no preseason as us. Bring it! We will be tough to beat this year. Bucs are No longer an easy win…Go BUCS!!

  39. MDFree Says:

Lol looks like we’re gonna draw the chiefs at home to open the season. For all the fans who wanted to start out with the hardest matchup possible you got it.

  40. Joe Says:

Lol looks like we’re gonna draw the chiefs at home to open the season.

Chiefs will open at home. Against someone else.

  41. Bucsfan951 Says:

My bucs in Vegas… I CANT WAIT!!! I’m gonna have to take that Monday AND Tuesday off to recover! Haha

  42. snookman Says:

Chiefs vs Saints on Thursday night to open season is a guarantee

  43. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Coo I guess??? At least this should level the playing field for our division. This actually works in our favor.
Think about it we get 4 games to fine tune before our division games even start. That should help us work out the kinks and give us an even better chance at winning the division.
    Let’s ggoooo Bucs!!!!

  44. SOEbuc Says:

Not sweating anything with a healthy Brady. Every player on this team is EXTREME JUICED!!! Bring on KC vs. TB first MNF cuz we’d crush em.

  45. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

This will not age well. Bookmarked.

  46. Pryda...sec147 Says:

It doesn’t matter who we face if we healthy we dominating all season just do your JOB

  47. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Bucs vs Raiders to start the season. Bucs vs Raiders to end the playoffs in the Superbowl!

We can make beating the Raiders in the Superbowl a tradition!!!!

  48. Adam Lakers Carolla Says:

Enough with “the sickness”. If you’re in the at risk group, then stay at home. The rest of us need to get busy living again aka commerce. No need to comment, because I don’t care about your feelings.
    ps
realist is still a D bag

  49. Elita Vita Says:

Only 2 NFC South teams playing in KC this year would be the Falcons or Panthers…. doubt that that game will be a barn burner.

  50. Gofortheface30 Says:

It’s almost as if you guys have Stockholm syndrome. With your own apathetic emotions. You guys DO know that Brady and gronk have seen anything and everything right? These nationally televised games called AFC championship games against manning, these things called the super bowl. You guys are sitting here getting your little g string in a bunch over playing Drew Lock or David Carr in a half empty stadium week one. Good lord let’s get a grip

  51. BucsFan81 Says:

My guess we open up on the road week 1 against the Raiders on Monday night Football 10pm eastern time. Get ready to stay up late buc fans…

  52. Robert James Says:

doubt nfl opens w raiders at home bc stadium might not be finished

  53. MDFree Says:

@Joe why wouldn’t they play us? The defending champs against Tom Brady in Tampa would be one hell of a way to kickoff the season. After all Tampa Tom has been the dominant storyline this offseason thus far. Unless the defending champs historically open up at home every year? If that’s the case I never noticed it.

  54. REDZONE BA Fan Says:

Positive news is that Bucs do not have 7 ROAD games in row > like in 2019. Tompa Brady as our QB helped us in that regard. NFL scheduling Gnomes are angling for maximum TV viewership. Welcome, Tompa Brady!

  55. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

MDFree, I’m pretty sure the SB Champs traditionally are supposed to open the season at home.

  56. Dapostman Says:

    @MDFree,

Because the Chiefs will open the season on Thursday Night at their house.

Their game with the Bucs will be in Tampa. So it’s week 2,3 or 4 to play KC.

  57. Dapostman Says:

I could see the Bucs at Vegas for SNF. Much more advantageous than the late Monday night game. Plus Al Michaels is the best Prime Time announcer. SNF makes sense.

  58. REDZONE BA Fan Says:

Pining for Tompa Brady – Patrick M game. EPIC matchup! Tompa going wild in BA offense vs Patrick M in prime time….Bring it on!

  59. Bucsfanman Says:

There they are! I love it.
    “0-4”
    “1-3”
I guarantee these are the same “fans” that “predicted” the 2018 Fitzy starts.
I mean, why bother if you’re going to choose to be so miserable?
Every last one of those teams is beatable.

  60. View from 132 Says:

Easiest games to cancel without standings impact if they need to revert to 12 games… makes sense.

  61. unbelievable Says:

It blows my mind how many you still think the Chiefs will open the season on the road…. derp.
