Vita Vea The Best DT?
May 7th, 2020Tuesday night, Joe was typing up a story about how the PFF Tribe believes Chris Godwin is the sixth-best NFL player under 25 years old.
Browsing through the story, Joe wondered why the tribe didn’t include Vita Vea? That outfit usually does backflips over him. Then Joe realized Vea is no longer under-25 (he is 25).
Then Joe stumbled onto another article from the tribe. It was a feature on Vea. And yep, they still love him. In fact, Ben Linsey believes Vea is on the cusp of being the NFL’s most dominant nose tackle.
Of course, the pass-rushing promise he has shown out of the gate is what gets us excited as the more valuable thing he brings to the table, but he wouldn’t be seeing the field if he was consistently getting moved aside in the run game. That, however, has been another area he has shown himself to be fully capable of handling, both at the college and NFL levels. …
With Vea’s athletic profile, history of strong production in college and impressive play early in his NFL career, there is no reason to believe he won’t continue to improve on a talented Buccaneers defensive line in 2020. As of now, he’s already one of the better nose tackles in the league, capable of above-average play in all phases of the game. The next step for Vea is another leap forward in Year 3 that pushes him into the “elite” conversation for interior defenders.
Joe doesn’t think this is all earth-shattering news because Bucs fans know how damn good Vea is. Between him and Ndamukong Suh, good luck running inside on the Bucs.
You know what really irks Joe? Damn, Joe would have loved to seeVea, beastly strong, go mano y mano in an Oklahoma drill with Tristan Wirfs.
Thanks Roger Goodell!

Due to the national attention and presumably a better record I wouldn’t be surprised if he had 5-7 players in the pro bowl and hopefully a few all pros
May 7th, 2020 at 12:15 am
If the Bucs were a winning team we’d get more Pro Bowlers because we’d get more attention. Getting rid of Jameis and acquiring Brady will make the entire team seem better. In this essay I will-

If he wants to wear the crown ….first let him earn the crown!!! ….we alll know that injuries can wreak a season ..hell evan a career!!!

>Oklahoma drills
NOW JOE lets not get too ahead of ourselves and concuss our guys before they see the field.

My question is about Eric Berry? With Winfield in the mix it seams Berry would be a perfect fit for the strong safety spot. Being an all in year there’s ways of creating salary cap space although it could create future dead cap space. If you told me a year ago Brady and Gronk would be on this team I wouldn’t believed it. What’s the over under on Berry or other comments?
May 7th, 2020 at 1:57 am
Daniel- berry?? They can’t afford berry. Besides, The rest of the safeties are young and getting better. Everyone thinks the secondary was so bad. The second half of the season they were pretty damn good. They’re young and kept improving in the new defense.
Right now all they need is a damn training camp.

Can we please just give this man a FB dive?
May 7th, 2020 at 2:46 am
I rip on Licht all the time (still waiting on a running back that poses a consistent threat), but he nailed it by drafting this dude.

“Lol our 2 down fat middle linebacker
Dominate? And he comes off on crucial 3rd down?
This is all Fake news”
Kobe Derwin J Faker
May 7th, 2020 at 4:35 am
Yes Kobe just how Ronald jones was never going to hit 59 yards in a game….
May 7th, 2020 at 5:21 am
I would definitely like to see him on the field more. When lined up, I haven’t seen anyone stop him. He’s pushing guys straight into the backfield on most plays.
He’s fun to watch!

So we should all thank Coach Smitty, who wanted better interior D-lineman on the first day ne walk into one Buc!!!!!!!! Its a shame that the Bucs did not trade she-mc93 after the 2016 like coach smitty wanted to for being soft and complaining when he ran the 3-4 hybrid defense!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s time to herd the sheep, and put them back in the pen!!!!!!!!!!!!!
go bucs!!!!!!!!!!

But but but… Derwin James…

Man, the hype is off the charts. right up there with the starship Enterprise. Go head and beam Vita up.
May 7th, 2020 at 8:39 am
Bucs will have 10+ players in the Pro Bowl and maybe 10 All-pro’s….
💯
May 7th, 2020 at 8:49 am
I hope the Bucs have 0 players in the next pro bowl ……… Super Bowl!!!
May 7th, 2020 at 8:54 am
Vita Vea will be the best 3-4 NT in the NFL before his rookie contract is over with.
May 7th, 2020 at 9:51 am
Vea is entertaining to watch.
If you haven’t done so already, I highly recommend focusing on Vea during a few defensive series.
It’s hilarious to watch him push back offensive lineman over and over again.
May 7th, 2020 at 9:59 am
Really good player. He faded a bit in the last 4 games though.
If we didn’t need to draft a o lineman, It would have been unreal to put kinlAw next to him…
May 7th, 2020 at 10:17 am
*Correction…
Bucs will have 10+ players voted to the Probowl (but won’t be able to attend bcuz of the Superbowl), to go along with possibly 10 All-pro selections…
19-0
May 7th, 2020 at 10:25 am
Yup. Everyone talking up Suh needs to see how much better Vea is. If he can close on some more sacks he’ll be one of the most dominant players in the league.
May 7th, 2020 at 10:27 am
🙂
May 7th, 2020 at 10:31 am
realist
we should thank smitty!!!!!
if it wasnt for his awful & predictable defense he and dirk would still be here…going 5-11 yet again!!!!!
P.A.L. league wants to thank smitty too!!!!….he was defensive coach of the year for their flag football team…..
GO BUCS!!!!!
May 7th, 2020 at 11:01 am
Anyone who does not recognize Vea as “elite” does not understand football line play.
May 7th, 2020 at 12:05 pm
He is really good no doubt… But there seems to be something he’s not doing right?? I don’t know what they ask him to do and I played receiver and safety in my football days so I’m no expert… But it seems like he just MANHANDLES lineman!! In clips I see he is obviously the stronger person… So my question is the way he moves people on the line, how fast and agile he is.. How does he not have more sacks?? Don’t get me wrong I flipping love the guy and glad to see him on the team… Can anyone who knows about linemen type stuff tell me why he doesn’t have 10-12 sacks a year?? I know scheme is some of it but other than that what does he do wrong or need improvement in???
May 7th, 2020 at 12:11 pm
Oh and as someone who played safety from middle school through college… I love Winfield!!! Dude is super smart in real playing time and all around technique and everything is above average… But man idk if I could have had any success at safety as short as he is!! I’m 6″ 3′ and my playing days was 195 – 215 and I still had trouble with tall receivers who could high point the ball!! And that was on a much lower level of play than the NFL …. I reeeeally like the dude and think he has all the tools to be one of the best ball hawk safeties in the league.. If he can overcome his height deficiency!! Which he obviously has to to this point!! 7 picks last year is just nuts!! I was lucky to have 2 a year in the later years!!

“Kobe Faker is 5″6″ tall and 208lbs fighting weight
Never played any elementary nor highschool organized sports
Though always picked last at kickball, KF built his street cred from playing ball on the streets of Bartow
From those very exact streets, KF learned the hard way about accountability
Why is VV getting a free pass? Why doesnt he play 3 downs? Why does Fat boy go to the sideline on 3rd down? Elite?
Please stop embarrassing Kobe Faker”

Yeah and who was Smittys first target for improving the Dline? None other than Chris “fatty” Baker!
Mike Smith is awful!
