Jameis: “I Guess That’s Kudos To Me”

Unemployed America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, made his first public comments today on getting replaced by Tom Brady.
They came on FOX News, and the spin didn’t stop there, as a scandal-riddled former FOX news host used to say.
“I guess that’s kudos to me,” Jameis said of being replaced, noting Brady is “The Goat” who now is in the city that Jameis loves.
Jameis went on to say he looks forward to competing against the great quarterbacks of the game soon so he can win Super Bowls, too.
Jameis has teamed up with a doctor to promote a plague hotline to help sufferers have questions answered about the illness from the safety of their homes. That’s why he was on FOX News; (844) TEST-COVID is the number, and no, Jameis does not answer that phone.

I almost feel bad for him. I stopped believing he was the QB of the future back in 2018 but I never thought he would be a former NFL QB before his 27th birthday. Regardless, the fact that he’s a former NFL QB goes to show the Bucs were right to move on from him.

Was always a Winston fan. I wanted him back and sank with the ship. Pretty easy to see why they moved on. We upgraded at QB so I’m a happy fan.
Aside from a few of the nugglers here there is no other reason to take pleasure in this. Sounds like he’s being a good sport about it if ya ask me.

I personally believe Mr Pick-6 now realizes, barring a season ending injury to their starting quarterback, no team is going to offer him starter money. It looks to me like he is sucking up to the Bucs for a backup quarterback job. What would be worse, carrying a clipboard for 2 years learning from the GOAT or being unemployed? Would the Bucs even take him for league minimum? Don’t know.

Winston is a good person. Winston is not a good NFL QB; there is more than yards to the equation. I think it starts upstairs and these comments “kudos to me” dont help. If he was smart, he would be quiet until he is signed. This is nothing but a distraction to his effort of finding a new NFL job. I am kind of surprised Joel Segal – his agent- has not reeled some of this in. Most NFL agents tell their clients to be quiet until the contract ink is dry. No news is great news when your Winston.

Not sure why we are attacking his Kudo’s to me statement except that is what we do now. He had a whole interview not just the 55 seconds above. We then take the one sentence above that comes out a little awkward and we hit on that phrase. I am sure he never thought he would be unemployed. It is a difficult time for him.
I have not seen any of the interview (other than the 55 seconds) but the print media is just giving us a part of his interview. I understand from the little that I read that he was also talking about his recent wedding and a coronavirus hotline that he had set up with Dr. Kelly.
Probably a lot of fine things in the interview.
I leaned towards moving on from Winston but I will not hate on this from him.
I do not like constant Winston articles at this point but after going on Fox today an article on him seems appropriate to me.

I believe Jameis has grown up a lot from the crab leg stealing, profanity yelling, female groping kid we saw come into Tampa. That said, he still has miles to go because while he’s grown as a man, he has not grown much as a QB.
While stuff like being a good person, etc. do matter a lot, what matters more to NFL GM’s is wins. Turnovers and constant on-field bad decision making do not translate to wins. That’s why Jameis hasn’t been signed yet and why he likely won’t be a starter to begin the 2020 season.
Until that improves, a fringe starter/quality backup is his NFL ceiling. Period.

Even his 1st pick-6 v Tenn it was Humpries that ran the wrong route. He never said anything. Manning had 100INTs his 1st 5 seasons… Just saying we’re losing a possible great QB, we had to go with TB, but if not Winston would’ve been the QB here.

Hearing the crickets has been a reality check for Jameis, at least you would think. Nice of him to start the hotline and he made a lot of coin per pick as a Buc so I do not feel bad for him especially when the virus has jammed so many people up financially. I predict Winston could end up with the Jags who can not be too high on Minshew…….

At end of day, JW is out of job for many reasons:
-Bucs waiting to see Door #2 options -Tom Brady, and JW team thinking that other options might not happen. Boom – they happened.
-Inability to travel and interview in-person. Covid19
-Stats > mostly good, but the bad is really bad. JW needs a coach who “thinks” he can correct the bad. Arians killed JW options.
JW has to accept backup role, or wait for starter injury.

My wife and I have a saying between us that is shorthand in our evaluation of people. It’s a simple “he/she gets it.”
JW simply does not “get it”. He creates a ton of self inflicted wounds. I feel sorry for him. I hope he has success but I’m glad it will be somewhere else.
Unless he wins we’ll never know but if a guy is this clueless and arrogant after what should have been five humiliating years…can we imagine what he’d be like if he won?

Public image (and outrageous contract demands) likely sank his ship in Tampa more than anything else, so it is probably savvy on his part to try to repair that image. I’m not gonna bash the guy for that if he can accomplish something positive in the process. He’ll likely wind up as a backup on another NFL team after the draft plays out and teams have a better idea of what QB’s will be on their rosters. If he can do some serious self reflection and find a way to “put it all together” I do think he’ll eventually become the QB we hoped he could be, but unfortunately it wasn’t in the cards for him in Tampa. And no…I have never been a fan of JW…just trying to be objective.

Just judging by the comments, I’d say that keeping Winston around (as a topic) is actually “therapeutic” for a lot of these no-life-having lowlifes, who actually NEED this forum as a platform to masquerade what obviously is a deeper contempt for who Winston is as a human being and for what he represents. I find myself scrolling through these comments every so often, mulling over just how many of these guys wives jameis must have banged to warrent this kind of (racially motivated?) hatred. It blows my mind that the readership for this website consists of nothing but people who nod vigorously watching ESPN, as they spread the narrative that jameis is the worst qb to ever play the game. Based on what i see here, this fanbase never deserved him. And i hope the majority of you F150 driving maga hats can look in the mirror one day and acknowledge that the bucs were idiotic to let a talent like that slip away. But, who am i kidding.
