Opposites Attract

April 7th, 2020

Stoked about Tom Brady.

On one hand, they are similar players. On the other hand, they cannot be more opposite.

Both new Bucs quarterback Tom Brady and Lavonte David are damn good football players. That’s about where the similarities end.

With Brady as a starter for the Belicheats, only once did New England not finish in first place in the AFC East. That was 2002, the year after Brady and New England won their first Super Bowl.

(The Belcheats did not win a division the year Brady missed most of the year with a blasted knee).

David? Hell, he’s looking for his first wild card berth much less a division title.

Speaking today on a Zoom video conference hookup, David said he believes Brady just may be the final puzzle for him to finally play in a meaningful January game. Or perhaps, beyond.

“I’ve been itching for a very long time, eight years,” David said of his quest for a postseason game. “For someone to come in with [Brady’s] winning pedigree? That’s a lot of knowledge for us.”

David believes Brady will make him an improved defender. “A better leader, better teammate to learn the little things for us to get over the hump,” David said.

David added just Brady’s legacy and resume should make his teammates better through motivation alone.

“He brings that winning attitude,” David said. “That’s what everybody in our locker room wanted. He is the perfect guy for us. I know we have a lot of guys who soak up a lot from the older guys to gain an advantage.”

Brady did reach out to David and impressed David by trying to find out and learn how he could best fit in with his new teammates and coaches —  to make their transition smoother this summer (if there is a training camp this summer).

At least you won’t see our players mouthing curse words on the sidelines every time JW threw a pick. Their was a lot of frustration on those sidelines.

  2. SOEbuc Says:

Dead on Lavonte. And if you do what you do or even better this year, with the prime time, you’ll have a very good chance of redeeming all those Pro Bowls you should of been in over the years.

I am HYPED about this defense with Brady! Returning to the red’s of one of the best defenses of all time.

I see Winston got married yesterday

Want to fit in ,,, JUST WIN.

  5. JP09 Says:

It’s undervalued that our Defense will be practicing everyday against one of the best, if not the best to ever do play. Gone are the days of multiple INTs and false hope from the secondary during OTAs and training camp. If a defender wants a INT he will have to earn it. I mean seriously how many INTs did Hargreaves have during the offseason, it seemed like you would read about it daily

Hard to not appreciate the value that Brady brings on many levels.

    Go Bucs!!!

Well said LVD say no more🤫don’t wanna ruffle feathers

  8. THETRUTH Says:

Didn’t JW throw a pic on his first pass of minicamp last year that was open to Public

  9. WestChap Says:

Loved his demeanor in uni reveal video… he brought the attitude last year but was stymied. He will be rewarded with playoffs when he does it again for 2020.

  10. WestChap Says:

Lavonte and Evans are my favorite Buc veterans… hope they get a season to show what they can do in the playoffs.

  11. SOEbuc Says:

Dead on. So hyped about this returning red defense with Brady running things.

  12. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

I think Evans has been my favorite player on the team the lasrt several years, Not so much with JW.

I really like the optimistic point of view with this article, but just remember that Brady Is 43 years old and has pplayed a long long time. Keep it real fellas.

  14. JonJohn Says:

Why aren’t their any LVD jerseys for sale?

Having veterans like himself, JPP, and Suh wil be a huge advantage with a shortened training camp. Brady speaks for himself he will be ready along with the entire offense.

    JP09,

    Spot on!

And every year we read report after report that tried to explain away Winston’s proclivity for charity. Winston pushes the limits in training camp to see what throws he can and can’t make. Don’t worry about it. 5yrs our very own jbf tried to assure the loyal readers that their eyes were lying. Thankfully, that’s not going to be the case moving forward.

Great point about Hargreaves. I have to agree with the militant winstonites on this point. Winston made guys around him better. Hargreaves is case and point. Only problem for Hargreaves was he wasnt playing against winston once the season began.

Brady will challenge the defense in ways that winston wasn’t capable of . And that should work to sharpen the defense from top to bottom.

Not sure who posted the link a few posts back that Brady wrote for The Players Tribune, but Damn do I thank you.

Really impressive. TB is sharp. As it turns out, you don’t get to be the GOAT if you’re not.

    In BA I Trust!

Somewhere Ndog is taking a shot and fuming.

“A better leader, better teammate to learn the little things for us to get over the hump,” David said.

Ouch. No Christmas invitations for you Lavonte from the Winston household.

  19. Jean Lafitte Says:

I don’t see Winston or Cam Newton being signed by anybody. Too much gap for the salary cap era. Possibly one will be a backup somewhere. Dallas possibly.
