Tom Brady and Bucs chatter.
David Carr knows what it is like being a new quarterback.
In 2002, Carr was drafted by the Houston Texans as the franchise’s first quarterback. So he didn’t know anyone on offense and his new offensive teammates didn’t know him.
Now being a rookie on an expansion team is a little more drastic than being a 20-year veteran quarterback with 283 starts under his belt coming to a team of established veterans with Pro Bowl weapons.
But the gist is just the same. There will be a learning curve for Tom Brady and the Bucs.
And with the nation under a virtual lockdown thanks to the [national advertisers don’t like that word], Carr, speaking on a conference video chat with his fellow NFL Network colleagues Michael Robinson and DeAngelo Hall, thinks the learning curve for Brady and the Bucs will be much deeper to overcome.
“Guys can’t get together,” Carr said. “So how is that going to work? Bruce Arians and Tom Brady trying to meld their ideas together. Obviously Tom Brady is going to have some things that he will want to run and implement some things that he has had success with. And honestly, that is kind of different than what Bruce Arians has been doing the last couple of years.
“[Arians] is a risk-it; no-biscuit, push the ball down the field. Now they have the guys to do that. It looks like they are still going to do that and challenge guys and I think Tom is healthy enough to do that. We don’t see a big decline like Peyton Manning toward the end of his career.
“I think the big thing is to see how they meld those ideas and how this offense is going to look when they come down to it.”
It’s a fair point. Now Brady was apparently scoping out his new pad, Derek Jeter’s house on Davis Islands (imagine the talent that has walked through that master bedroom?). Joe has to wonder if Brady tried to link up with Chris Godwin or Mike Evans while in town (Joe doesn’t know if Godwin or Evans are in town).
So while Bucco Bruce Arians marveled at what people can do with technology to learn football plays, etc., nothing beats getting on a field and running routes and learning nuances of receivers and all sorts of little things that don’t show up on FaceTime.
Who knows when the Bucs can get together again or, for that matter, when or if training camp starts this summer? So this will be a big challenge for the Bucs and for their Hall of Fame quarterback, much less the head coach and offensive coordinator.

I fully expect TB to organize a Badass training camp of his own with ME, CG and the rest of them.
Probably will be the highlight of the NFL Network coverage too.

I hear Jeter’s rehab room in the mansion is complete with everything. Brady is probably gonna spend a lot of time in there with that magnificent view. Sweezy will drop by , dock his boat and help Brady count da cash baby! 2 bilkers.

This risk it no bisquit crap is so overused and inaccurate. Jameis threw the ball. Someone caught it. It’s been part of football for over 100 years. Why did Jameis do it? Because they were often behind and had a lousy running game.
The media and fans make it sound like every play was Ghost to the Post.
Enough already.
And Tom Brady will throw the ball to whom he decides. Not Arians or his OC, Arnold Jackson.

This BA vs Brady BS is getting as bad as Winston talk. Evans, Godwin,Brate,OJ are not jets on the outside and if one got away Tom could hit them deep. With our receiver corp, we are going to kill it within 30 yard range. Brady gonna get 5,000+ yards, 35 TD/11

Again yall are talking about a 43 year old quarterback . And why do yall believe everything what the national media says about our team in the past and they don’t even watch bucs games . What if Brady gets hurt then what ??? He’s 43 when the season starts and he can’t move .

I wish I felt the same way, but think of the Saints. Brees certainly will need less reps then Tom Brady to get themselves in-tune with their receivers. Big advantage Saints / Falcons.
With that said, this is Tom Brady we’re talking about, so….

I watched that segment and Carr in one quick sentence also threw a ton of shade at the Bucs defense near the end of his comments. He basically said that Brady’s going to have a rude awakening because he was protected by a great defense in New England for all those years and now he’s coming to the Bucs. And I mean there was a “period” at the end of that.
I really hope every single one of our defensive players watched that and heard what he said about what he thinks about them. I hope they get fired up and want to prove him wrong. Because I think our defense is going to be a heck of a lot better then everybody realizes nationally.
Honestly I heard Carr say that and I got really p!ssed off, myself.
