Tom Brady’s Market Value
March 21st, 2020St. Patrick’s Day 2020 will forever live in Bucs fans’ minds as that was the day the Bucs got a six-time Super Bowl champion as a quarterback.
But did other teams want him as bad as the Bucs?
In a recent edition of “Around the Horn,” seen on BSPN, Brady’s price tag of $25 million a year plus incentives tipped off the gang on the weekday show something is weird behind the scenes.
Sarah Spain even suggested for that price tag there were very few teams interested in the 42-year old.
You can watch and listen for yourself in the BSPN video below.

Who cares what teams wanted Brady. Not only can he play, he has already made the Bucs relevant, will make his teammates better, and give an instant injection of cash to the Glazers via ticket sales. And even better, he has made Buc fans have hope once again. 25mil is a steal for all of that.

Well said Formerly Tampa 2.
March 21st, 2020 at 8:10 am
The man wanted another payday. Do you blame him? It’s not like we’re talking peanuts here. As long as he can still play its all good for everyone. Can we all just be positive for a while?
March 21st, 2020 at 8:12 am
Yeah I think it’s a mistake to count out Brady after winning 12 games with a team not near as good offensively.
That shootout with the Rams would have been a blowout with Brady.
Looking forward to a 49-13 shalacking of a team this year.

Not worth over thinking, she is merely being speculative and exploring through a different lense from frank and bill – she isn’t making a proclamation and DID pivot back to the idea that the Bucs are the best football fit. Whatever, it’s just a discussion not bulletin board fodder for fans

25 mil each year, fully guaranteed, plus performance bonuses, plus no tag or trade, plus whatever handshake personnel input deal they made. This isn’t like some Teddy Bridgewater deal where all the goodies add up to 25mil. Rivers got 25 mil for only 1 year to go make this face in Indy.
I think this was a fair contract for all in that regard and doesn’t tip anything off to me when you go beneath the surface. But that’s not BSPN’s style is it….

TB12 has always done team-friendly, below market value deals. Nothing new here. He was championships not paychecks.
And when you think about it $25 million is a lot of money and equates to 12% of the cap. Much more affordable than $30 million for 30/30 as thought to be requested?

Think back to the end of the season where we heard Jameis’ camp didn’t want the franchise used but wanted a deal worth around $30 million per year. Now we have Brady (albeit not in his prime) at $25-$30 million per and instant respect around the league. Jameis is still unemployed. I don’t see how we can’t be happy about this. Believe it or not, the public perception of Jameis is very negative, fair or not. Very hard to pay him when it’s impossible to market him. It’s business.

Joe have you heard any rumors about the bucs going after a RB in free agency?
cbssports.com sports writer Cody Benjamin says, “According to a source with knowledge of the situation, both the Buccaneers and running back Dion Lewis are exploring the possibility of an agreement that would reunite Lewis with Brady, the veteran’s teammate with the New England Patriots from 2015-17.”
March 21st, 2020 at 8:40 am
hey joe, question for ya’ll, has there been any word about suh? i’m wondering is he coming back? just to get off brady for a moment
March 21st, 2020 at 8:43 am
Sounds like sour grapes
March 21st, 2020 at 8:45 am
His market value was reported to be around 33.7 million. Bucs got a deal. Also, most teams didn’t have a shot to sign him. Tampa is a great fit for what he was looking to do professionally and personally. Go Bucs!
March 21st, 2020 at 8:49 am
A person’s market value is exactly what he receives…..no more, no less…..It doesn’t matter how many teams want or need a player…..there only needs to be 1……
No reason whatsoever to second guess it.

Billy, there is no need to be dishonest here. Jameis played lights out in that Rams game. I actually don’t know if we could even win a game like that. Jameis, when he is like he was in that game, is one of the top QBs in the league. Now over the long haul of the season I think we win more games with Brady and fewer mistakes, but the Rams game is not a good one to cite.

Brady was worth every penny we paid him. How is Jay Miss’s free agency going so far? I know Ndog, Munch, July Joe and others thought the sky was the limit for Jay Miss once he hit free agency. He’s gonna model a baseball cap and hold a clipboard. I don’t think you can get 30M a year for that, but “check your sheet cause I be ballin.”
March 21st, 2020 at 8:59 am
SteveK … Yes Brady’s deal is ‘team friendly’ IMO, but he’s done team-friendly deals his whole career. And he’s always won. Maybe he knows something other QBs don’t? With a QB record of 219-64 I’d say the answer to that is a resounding YES.
Besides, Brady does VERY WELL on the endorsement side of things. He’s very selective apparently (he can afford to be). Check out this link (if Joe let’s it be published of course) … https://blog.hollywoodbranded.com/tom-brady-and-his-selective-endorsement-deals
BTW, love that picture of Brady on the Sam Adams beer can. That’s class.

8-8, 4-12, 8-8, 13-3. Anyone know what this means?
March 21st, 2020 at 9:03 am
Bucs and Brady intersect at an ideal time for both parties…the perfect fit. The last 2 losses sealed JW’s fate. He was about to get the franchise tag at a minimum. Silver lining that he shat the bed. Brought the Buc & Brady together and improved the draft pick that might matter depending if they go DL, OL, safety or even RB.
March 21st, 2020 at 9:03 am
THIS IS ALL IRRELEVANT AS THERE WILL PROB NOT BE A FOOTBALL SEASON ANYWAY THIS YEAR W THE VIRUS SPREADING
March 21st, 2020 at 9:07 am
In other new, Winston should immediately fire his agent. Surely there was an over inflated assumption of his value on the open market. If he really leaked that Winston was looking for 30 million in this QB market with so many quality options available, he made a huge mistake. The only path to a starting and long term contract was to stick with tampa. That may have ment signing a Nick Foles/Teddy Bridgewater type of deal but at least it’s for guaranteed salary beyond 2021.
March 21st, 2020 at 9:09 am
It’s no secret. And it’s fair to say Brady is declining not getting any better but we are not paying for that. We are paying for a winning culture and “make everyone around him better” since BA cant do it
March 21st, 2020 at 9:13 am
A HELL of a lot better than paying Mr. Interception 30+ million.
March 21st, 2020 at 9:21 am
More teams wanted a 40 plus year old QB vs a 26 year old former 1St round pick…
Pretty telling
March 21st, 2020 at 9:29 am
Winston could have been asking for $15 million, and the league would pass.
It’s not the money, it’s the dumb-a$$ effect.
But the best news for Bucs fans regarding Winston is he’s gone. He can eat W’s elsewhere. In a hat. With a clipboard.
March 21st, 2020 at 9:31 am
Just a thought, Tom Brady’s last pass as a Patriot was a pick-six in the playoffs,
Jameis’s last pass was a pick-six, Omen?

Lamarcus
Sorry about no belief in nuggling anymore
You have denitely loved a man like no other
Give it time. You will have a new team soon
March 21st, 2020 at 9:42 am
Any word on Suh signing?
Peace, out
March 21st, 2020 at 9:47 am
ANY established, competent starting QB is worth 20 mil
March 21st, 2020 at 10:27 am
“The man wanted another payday. Do you blame him? It’s not like we’re talking peanuts here.”
Actually we are talking peanuts here…in Brady $$$…less than even 1% of his net worth. IF Brady was all about the $$$…he’s already worth 650 MILLION or more than a half BILLION with a B…he could make a ton of money with he and Giselle using their influence in their new production company.
Brady is worth how much if he simply retired and went all Manning and became a TV pitchman. IE The financial opportunities at this point in his life are far better if he retired than played another year.
Brady is NOT doing this for the $$$!!! He doing it for his legacy!
Brady is here for ONE reason…TO WIN!!!!
March 21st, 2020 at 10:30 am
I believe I heard the other day the new collective agreement included shared gate receipts with all NFL teams. If that is accurate the addition of Brady does very little to the Bucs bottom line.
March 21st, 2020 at 10:35 am
Just for grins I looked up Peyton Mannings endorsements..try 12 million for just goofing around with Brad Paisley in those Nationwide commercials
Seriously…how much better looking is Brady than goofy looking Manning?
Not intended as a slam of Peyton who I admire.

Ocala
I may be mistaken but I think that has always been the case. The visiting team gets a % of the gate which is only fair. The Pats gave the Bucs their largest crowd of the season…they should get compensated for producing a team that draws as opposed to say..the Dolphins or Jags or…sadly the Bucs.
