Team Glazer wouldn’t admit it, and neither would the other men and women running the Buccaneers, but having Jameis Winston on the Tampa Bay roster drove away a percentage of fans.
Some left Bucs fandom the day he was drafted. Others bolted when Jameis agreed to a 2018 deal with the NFL that left him facing a suspension and branded as a sex offender under the NFL conduct policy.
Joe’s not condoning or making excuses for those who turned in their fan card because they couldn’t stomach America’s Quarterback. And yes, Joe gets that a small percentage of those fans were racists. (Sadly, Joe filters plenty of racist, anti-Jameis comments from this website).
It’s football. If you don’t want to cheer for the Bucs, Joe doesn’t care.
But Joe is happy to have those Bucs fans back who were practicing social distancing for the past couple of years or more.

The 2017 season is what did it for me. I was willing to overlook the crap from college, but the Uber incident was unacceptable (The “hassle” as some call it). Worse was asking Darby and others to go along with a bogus story about who was in the car and up front, which makes me doubt the FSU story that I initially believed.
He just didn’t play good enough to overlook the baggage. Even without the baggage, his play was terrible in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

I left because of Shameis having season tickets since 1980. The actions by the Buc organization really pushed me away. I was at the first ever home win against the Cardinals and even went to the Super Bowl to see them play and win!! I will always be a fan and if Brady comes it will make watching the Bucs more interesting, however I will watch from home and support them from wherever I might be watching, but will not be at the Stadium. Good luck and hopefully the Bucs organization doesn’t screw this up as well. For the team GOOD LUCK BUCS!!!

SPOILER ALERT: Winston is NOT a great NFL QB. He’s too streaky and too inconsistent. The league knows it. Hence why no one ran to sign him and the Bucs let him walk the plank.

I love Brady just concerned about his age and health playing in Tampa. Tampa OL wasn’t the greatest last year but, maybe some of the OL problems had something to do with Jameis holding the ball to long. After saying that I think the draft for Tampa is now set. I think they go RB and OL in the first 2 rounds and QB in the 3rd round to sit behind Brady for 2 years or so. I think we will be set for the next 10 years in Tamps

Bad QBs dont consistently lead top 5 scoring offenses, throw for 5,000 yards, throw 30 TDs, etc.
Jameis was a good QB with 1 major flaw and fair enough if you think the Bucs needed to part ways due to the turnover issue.

Look at how the stats were accrued. Peyton was getting better by year five, not blowing up and throwing 4.8% INT rate in their fifth year. Plus the rules were tougher back then with regards to how you can hit receivers- at the line, laying them out, etc.
Look at the INT numbers around the league from other QBs. They are are throwing less bc the rules of the game dictate so.

the bucs will have less holding calls and phantom blocking in back calls now this year with the americas favorite NFL reffed quarterback in brady. There is no shame being on the bench for the best ever. Then/when/if he’s needed, he’s there.
Now that would be a win-win. We’d have Brady and Winston and all the Winston haters heads would hopefully physically explode and we’d be done with them once and for all.
I don’t actually see that happening, but Arians, from everything I’ve ever read really likes Winston and thinks he’s close – but Arians ticker is ticking, he only has so much time left.
But more likely Winston goes to the Pats, joins Steve Young, Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer, even Chris Chandler in playing in the Super Bowl.
Or he goes to the Raiders, because Gruden just can’t help himself. Also, no, this doesn’t mean Gruden gets rid of Carr. He literally has Carr, Mariota and Winston in camp, and we all know who wins that battle – Winston.

Lets face it folks, Jameis was not the answer. What is Brady? Brady is a stopgap measure to try and build a winner. He’s not the “long-term” answer but he gives this offense instant credibility. I can only assume that the Bucs will draft a QB to groom. Who better to mentor than Tom Brady?!
A lot of folks are emotional about this. At the end of the day, this was strictly a business decision. It’s about winning.

How can a Bucs fan not be excited by this? Even if Brady isn’t quite what he once was physically he still brings a much needed culture change and knowing what it takes to be a winner at the “general on the field” position. Kudos to the Glazers, Licht, and Arians for getting it done. And I truly wish Jameis all the best wherever he lands. Lack of talent or wanting to win was never a problem for him, so maybe a change of scenery benefits him just like I think Brady will benefit the Bucs.

Jaymiss sucked, but this is a whole new level of low… slap in the face. After being born at womens hospital the same time the Bucs were born, I have been a fan all my life. That will end with the signing of Brady. I am not a patriot fan and until he gets hurt, which he will, I am done. Getting rid of my season tic. I am sure some patriot fan will pay a fortune!!!

Well a 43 year old declining QB to lead the ship. Okay probably the best ever. So we must assume Super Bowl or Bust. So when the smoke clears and reality sets in,it should be fun. Can Tom fix the DB’s or our poor coverage LB’s? Most likely not but out scoring opponents should be easier. 30 less interceptions is a lot more points too. then there is MO yup Bucs should have that. so relax enjoy the next two seasons, then father time will bring us back to ground zero, QB less. Then again with our O line, TB berak out the Vitamins and aspirin an ice.

In the game of musical QB chairs, the seats are filling up quick. Down to two, maybe – Chargers and Jacksonville. Would either even bother to bring Mr. Check Yo Sheet in on a one year deal? Chargers probably pass, and Jax looks to be in rebuild mode. Unless the price tag is low, Winston could very well be in “oh, crap – our starting QB got injured in training camp – call Winston’s agent” territory….
