“I Think Bridgewater’s Going To Make Someone A Good Quarterback Coach”
March 9th, 2020The Teddy train keeps rolling.
Joe’s not sure where it’s going, but a lot of football minds think Tampa is smart stop.
A guy who says he has been around Bridgewater, former NFL safety and longtime media guy Solomon Wilcots, talked Friday about how it shouldn’t be underestimated how much players and coaches love Bridgewater. And that’s critical to winning, he told SiriusXM NFL Radio.
“The players in that locker room have to believe, in order for you to win consistently, they’ve got to believe in the guy who’s under center,” Wilcots said in a discussion of Bridgewater being a fit for the Bucs.
He cited tough guy Mike Zimmer crying when Bridgewater got hurt in practice with the Vikings in late August of 2016, in addition to players’ reactions to Bridgewater at other NFL stops.
Wilcots agreed with co-host Charlie Weis, who said Tom Brady, Philip Rivers and Teddy Bridgewater are ideal choices (in order) for the Bucs at quarterback in 2020.
“I think Bridgewater’s going to make someone a good quarterback coach,” Wilcots said.
Weis added that he got a tremendous recommendation on Bridgewater from his former Notre Dame player, two-time Pro Bowl Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph. In addition, Weis said Bridgewater is ideal for Bruce Arians because he’ll be the right balance.
“Don’t make a bunch of mistakes; don’t be afraid to sling it down the field, but don’t make a bunch of mistakes,” Weis said.
This all reminds Joe of how former Bucs tight end Anthony Becht went all-in on Bridgewater for the Bucs back in December. Becht works for the Jets and was around Bridgewater when he was there for the 2018 offseason and preseason.

Do we know how much Bridgewater is asking for, per year?
March 9th, 2020 at 10:48 am
Certainly an improvement over Winston… maybe not the guy I’d personally go get, but again, better than Jameis so it’s certainly a step in the right direction.
March 9th, 2020 at 10:53 am
anyone but WinSTUNNED, 2020…
March 9th, 2020 at 10:54 am
Bridgewater market value is 21.6 mil. I would imagine he would sign for between 18-22 mil a year.
March 9th, 2020 at 10:55 am
Per the interweb, he got $7.25 million in 2019, so I would guess he could be signed for around $10 million, give or take a nickel.
March 9th, 2020 at 10:57 am
Are you serious?.?? Look at his career totals.
Bridgewater will be a disaster waiting to happen. I hope be have a good backup QB
Go back and learn something

I know free agency starts next week, but are we able to sign our own free agents before that?
March 9th, 2020 at 11:01 am
Bridgewater is nowhere near as good as Jameis. Come on man!
March 9th, 2020 at 11:02 am
You guys are hilarious suggesting Teddy wants and will get $10. Are you nuts?
He’s going to get like 22+. I wouldn’t even be surprised at 25.
Also, who is better between the two is highly debatable. If you want short yards and pts and to depend on defense and protecting the football, teddy is your guy. If you need pts and yards but risk turning the ball over jameis is your guy. Different formula for both.
Only way jameis is not our qb is if he asks for 30+, won’t budge, and someone pays him. Otherwise, I’m not even sure Teddy is the definitive guy behind door #2. He couldn’t fit the scheme any worse.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:07 am
Only Joe, who falsely calls the turnover machine “America’s quarterback “ and possible little pup think Winston is the answer for our beloved Bucs. I’ve seen way too much of the ATM,s carelessness and wreckless turnovers with zero accountability . Don’t even offer that dude a contract and PLEASE sign Bridgewater, “the capable game manager” or the GOAT. Either of those sends the Bucs to the playoffs. Isn’t that what it’s all about, people? Go Bucs!
March 9th, 2020 at 11:13 am
As a Louisville Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan i would absolutely LOVE this move!!! AAANNNDDD new uniforms coming, i’d DEFINITELY be getting some new gear!!!
March 9th, 2020 at 11:17 am
If you look at his career totals you will see a guy who hasn’t had a ton of attempts in the NFL basically, with a recent 5 game sample size of starts that projects to 29 TDs & 6 INts for a season with over 4500 passing yards.
In college he threw for 9817 yards at 8.6 YPA for 72 TDs and 24 INTs
So it’s not like there is no evidence of him being able to throw a football around the field for stats.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:20 am
Bridgewater would be a huge upgrade….simple as that…
GO BUCS
March 9th, 2020 at 11:23 am
BucBoy its not even close Bridgewater ceiling has already been reached he is not going to get any better but hey lol if that is what the “Whisperer” wants lol!
March 9th, 2020 at 11:28 am
Yes I love the 38 TDs he threw last year. Oh wait that was in HIS ENTIRE CAREER!!!!
March 9th, 2020 at 11:33 am
The cold hard fact is that the players do not believe jay-miss is the guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There has been no ringing endorsement from players and the so called leaders on offense have been especially quiet!!!!!!!!!!
go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 9th, 2020 at 11:35 am
Well Bridgewater did torch Hargreaves this year so there’s that.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:37 am
Are you serious ??? Bridgewater a upgrade ?
As a financial stand point of view problably. That’s it. Other than playing football no way ….
No threat as a QB. He can’t make all the throws.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:41 am
El buco I didn’t know you hang out in the locker room …
Also , there’s no leaders. At all on offense. I’m not sure if we are talking about the same team.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:41 am
‘The Teddy train keeps rolling’
And yet it still seems there are no one even interested in the Jameis train… All those stats suppose to matter and make him a big deal or so some would have you believe on here but yet NO one that truly knows football and are the experts seem to agree..
I guess that train maybe bound for the scrap heap!
March 9th, 2020 at 11:42 am
Bridgewater would be a huge upgrade HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Exactly Adrnagy. Financially. There’s a reason his market value is lower than Jameis’s.
Bruce won with great defenses. If they let jameis go, it’s not because they think they can win more with teddy. It’s because they know they can win with the defense and save money at the qb position.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:44 am
El buco
Jensen, Godwin, Evans, Brate, Marpet, Dotson, etc. have all given ringing endorsements on Jameis. Where have you been?
You guys just make stuff up when you debate on this page lol
March 9th, 2020 at 11:45 am
@Adrnagy please explain which throw Teddy Bridgewater cant make . Is it the deep out ? Is it the go ? The post ? I’m curious to know what throw it is that you think he can’t make .
March 9th, 2020 at 11:46 am
Why does everyone try to point out Bridgewater stats as if he was starting the same amount of games as Jameis? He was great when he stepped in for Brees, and decent when he just got in the league, but he was hurt. You have to project his stats to compare. Hint: he will throw more TDS than he has before because he will be …you know, playing.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:48 am
BRIDGEWATER CAN’T THROW DEEP LIKE WINSTON?
LOL.
Another busted myth.
First pass in the first the ball travels 55 air yards from an off balance throw:

I can’t wait for this all to end! I have QB talk fatigue.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:50 am
Smooth
Most qbs can make the throws. It’s defensive, running back, and ol influences that single out who can make what throws under which circumstances. Teddy was allegedly never going to recover only a few years ago from an injury without ANY contact. That’s a cause for concern in a system with a shaky ol and no run game.
Teddy has got to be the biggest smokescreen I’ve seen in a while. Get ready for a boring offense if he actually becomes a buc.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:50 am
CAREER STATS:
Winston 5 yr/ 19737 yds/ 121 TD/ 88 int.
Bridgewater 6 yrs/7652 yds/ 38 TD/ 25 int.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:54 am
2016 our defense finished strong for six games we thought our defense had arrived.
2017 and 2018 seasons proved that was a mirage.
2019 defensed finished strong in the 2nd half of the season and everyone says our defense is fixed.
2020 hope everyone is right.
March 9th, 2020 at 11:56 am
Lmao!!
All one, with a brain, can muster when told Bridgewater > Jameis.
Weis pumped Brady Quinn as a top tier qb. SPARE ME!!!
Teddy is soft as charmin
March 9th, 2020 at 12:11 pm
I’m going to give you homework …. go and you tube or simple google. It will help you learn as you go football.

March 9th, 2020 at 12:40 pm
Still waiting for a team to be linked to giving Jameis big money….
March 9th, 2020 at 12:43 pm
Winston is more exciting to watch. He is better at making the big play. HOWEVER I believe if your interest is winning games then Bridgewater is your man.
March 9th, 2020 at 12:46 pm
Still waiting for the Bucs to announce we are moving from Winston.
March 9th, 2020 at 1:02 pm
Bridgewater would cost as much as Winsome. Maybe more. NO THANKS
March 9th, 2020 at 1:21 pm
Anyone, but WinsDone in 2020.
Bridgewater is my #1 choice, personally
March 9th, 2020 at 2:23 pm
The irony that all the jameis haters say they want teddy bridgewater to play qb.
This fan base never ceases to amaze me.
March 9th, 2020 at 4:58 pm
There are no Jameis haters here, there are Bucs fans. Jameis has had his chances and let them slide through his bank account.
His audition year for a 100 million dollar contract was a flop.
Bridgewater will be a great QB for someone. He would fit here well and will make the team better by being here.
You will be able to know what Teddy is going to do each week, versus Jameis, who could change from good to bad at half time, if he didn’t start bad. Every week had some boneheaded play in it.
March 9th, 2020 at 8:07 pm
The Bridgewater train seems to be gaining a lot of steam and really he might be the best fit from an age/experience/skill set ratio
Younger than rivers and Brady and dalton
Better than MM by a mile
Calm, cool and collected and great person of high character
He is not Jameis Winston
25 mil for 3 years – first two guaranteed
Bye JW
March 9th, 2020 at 10:07 pm
I’m against any one player having too much leverage on us. I’d like to build a top notch TEAM that could win with a good QB…not necessarily a great QB…much less a HOF QB. If the team is great…awesome QB play is not necessary. Doesn’t have to be a check down charlie just needs to be a guy who knows how to set up his shots and when to take them and how to throw them so only ME or Godwin or Brate can catch them.
Seems like Bridgewater is far more likely than Brady…I like him better than Rivers.
March 10th, 2020 at 5:29 am
Bridgewater had basically no market as a starting QB and now all these guys are talking him up? Methinks his agents have greased their wheels
March 10th, 2020 at 8:42 am
well said St Pete…
March 11th, 2020 at 4:50 am
I think Andi Dalton, would be better choice.
