Paying the man (again?).
Now here is an interesting curveball.
At the combine last month in Indianapolis, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht and Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians made it clear this offseason was all about defense first, then getting around to a quarterback.
Given a tidbit that Jeremy Fowler of BSPN snuck into a deep dive on Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, the Bucs sure weren’t kidding.
It seems, per Fowler, the Bucs will try to extend stud linebacker Lavonte David before the 2020 season begins.
[T]he team has expressed interest in re-signing linebacker Lavonte David to a new deal this offseason, according to a source. He has one year left on his contract.
Per Spotrac, David is expected to make $10,750,000 this season, the final year of his current contract. His current salary has David as the seventh-highest paid inside linebacker (when he signed his current contract, he was an outside linebacker).
Joe will guess David’s salary won’t go up much. If the NFLPA approves the proposed CBA this week, that is likely when the Bucs start talking turkey with David, 30, about an extension.
Joe knows for a fact Arians absolutely loves David and was upset when David was shafted yet again from a Pro Bowl nod.

Lvd is nothing more than cancer93s mentally weak sidekick. He is so overrated 1 good season under schiano and 1/2 a good year last year.

Lvd is a great Robin. Terrible Batman but great Robin. He is a solid player and makes splash plays but is only a hype machine with no clear message for the team. Deserves every penny but he’s not top 5 he’s top 8-10. Definitely lock him Him up for a few more years for current pay or slightly lower before this new CBA hits.

L David is everywhere on the field. He is always involved with most plays. Keep him he is the heart of our D.

#54 has played at a high level and given his heart & soul to the BUCS for quite awhile now. He seems to be developing into a big time leader, as well.

Probably a money-saving move, maybe free up more cap space. I’m just kind of “meh” on LVD. He’s been good, I wouldn’t say great. I think I would like to see him in this defense one more year before making the decision to extend him though.

Brandon Davidson, I get that you don’t agree with Tmax, but you have to at least admit that if he could “blindly follow Jameis,” with Jameis’ “d*#$” in his mouth, that would make Jameis amazingly well-endowed.

LVD is still gonna be bustin heads till he’s 35+ years old or pull a Brady and get to 40. He’s a leader of the defense. Wrap him up asap.
