Considering Desire
March 5th, 2020Former Titans team president and Vikings general manager Jeff Diamond has weighed in with a slightly different angle on Decision Jameis.
And it got Joe’s antennae up because of something Bucco Bruce Arians noted last week in a private chat with Joe and local reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Arians specifically was talking about the priority difference when it comes to re-signing Shaq Barrett versus America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.
“And I know he wants to be in this defense,” Arians emphasized about Shaq.
At the time it got Joe thinking about how Joe hasn’t heard Arians or general manager Jason Licht mention how much Jameis wants to return to the Bucs. Perhaps he prefers a fresh start?
Regardless, Diamond published a piece for Sporting News yesterday calling Bridgewater to the Bucs and ideal fit for various reasons, and one was Bridgewater being eager to play for Arians and the Bucs’ staff of noted QB gurus who could further develop him.
Imagine if Bridgewater’s camp let Arians know how much he wants to play for him specifically, and return to his home state. Maybe that hunger would matter to Arians, especially if it’s in contrast to a Jameis camp in money-first mode.
Joe is not jumping on a table screaming for Bridgewater, but Joe would understand if Arians thought he could get more out of 27-year-old Bridgwater than anyone has seen in his 34 career starts. After all, Arians thinks the world of his coaching staff and does not publicly accept a shred of blame for Jameis’ massive interception total.

imagine what teddy could done with all our weapons…..he lit teams up with just MT and ted ginn….lol….
we get teddy and we’ll win those 1score games we lost because of turnovers….
GO BUCS!!!!!
March 5th, 2020 at 9:08 am
Jameis needs another year with Arians more than Arians needs another year with Jameis….Jameis’s posse better understand this !
March 5th, 2020 at 9:12 am
What’s behind door number 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9?
March 5th, 2020 at 9:13 am
Bridgewater announcing he wants to be a starting QB isn’t a big leap. He’ll take any job he can get because there’s a good chance he doesn’t get one.
March 5th, 2020 at 9:15 am
I’d take Teddy, Freddy, or even Betty over America’s turnover machine.
March 5th, 2020 at 9:15 am
@813bucboi….
“lit teams up”? 🙄
March 5th, 2020 at 9:16 am
Go lurk Winston’s Instagram @joe. He comment to mike Evans “we gotta keep this train moving forward” something like that. Implying he’s coming back almost. Joe saw it a couple of days ago. From Joe’s experience, player love to put cryptic messages out there and Joe’s a little burned out on trying to interpret them when you really have no idea whether they’re referring to football.–Joe .. didn’t have to say that at all- especially when you factor in the comment mike Evans made which jameis was replying too.
March 5th, 2020 at 9:19 am
Jameis needs a fresh start elsewhere he’s completed his sentence at the worst sports franchise on earth. Bucs will never matter as long as glazers are calling shots we have 18 years of proof. BA is going to make lovie Smith and the family plan look honest once he has completely destroyed the already pathetic roster…. BA and licht have never built anything nor have either been successful on thier own. The results proof this. Those who trust in BA are ignorant fools with blinders on completely ignoring the past and facts.
Parole Jameis he’s done his time
March 5th, 2020 at 9:21 am
Didn’t Jameis say he wants to return at the end of 2019?
He picked a bad year to be Santa with the ball. Lot of teams have recently drafted Qbs or plan to draft QBs and there is a ton of QBs available who’ve never turned it over again 30+ times in a year
I think there is gonna be a QB who is not gonna have a starting spot when the offseason is done. Might be Jameis if he doesn’t lower his demands
March 5th, 2020 at 9:21 am
Yep winston bet on himself and basically plays hero ball trying to get the massive contract. At some point gotta believe what your being told which winston is very smart and has a ton of talent and a big arm. What makes him force throws that aren’t there? The big play visual of seeing it done is what it is. The throw away would be the smart play at times and I dont know why he doesnt understand that mentality would have made him the money he is looking for.
Defense the second half of the season is what you want as a quarterback so there is no excuses for forcing it especially without your top targets. Winston was trying to make money and prove its him not Evans and Godwin. He is that arrogant and stubborn which why you come out and say check the stat sheet cuz I’m ballin after ending the game on a pick 6.
I’ll take ryan Tannehill at this point I’d take anyone who doesnt turn the ball over like winston
March 5th, 2020 at 9:31 am
Brady, Rivers, Bridgewater or Tannehill- I would be fine with any of these guys over Winston. Add a safety in FA and sign our key defensive free agents. Improve the offensive line and find a running back in the draft.
This team is not far from being a winner.
Go Bucs!
March 5th, 2020 at 9:32 am
If we get Bridgewater we better not get down 10-0. Its over
March 5th, 2020 at 9:33 am
What is the market for these 2 QBs? There’s only a handful of teams looking for QB, and there are several noteworthy veterans and a draft prospects coming up. Makes me think that the Bucs will be choosing between Bridgewater and Winston, and neither will make anything close to the $30m they’ve been rumored at. My guess is that if we end up with one of these two, it will be Bridgewater at around $23m/year. Winston will end up a backup making $9m a year.
March 5th, 2020 at 9:33 am
I doubt Bridgewater would make the dumbass mistakes Winston does…and has his entire football career.

Good God not more Captain Check down to the Buc’s rumors. BA is a attacking the defense down the field looking for chunk plays of 20+ yards not Captain Check down career average of 6 yards per attempt and winning/losing games 10-9 like he did in the playoffs to Seattle.
March 5th, 2020 at 9:44 am

You guys so eager to get rid of the picks also forget that you’ll also get rid of the TDs. When did teddy throw 33 TDs ever? Total he has thrown 38. In his entire career.
You ALSO forget that every QB in their first year throws more picks in this offense.
So ‘upgrade’ at your own peril.
March 5th, 2020 at 9:52 am
My name is linked to the new CBA. They are now calling for a vote.
On topic, Bridgewater would be a nightmare here. He’s injury prone, and he would get hit a lot in Tampa.
March 5th, 2020 at 9:54 am
Teddy Toilet water is not valuable option….unless we are tanking for Justin Fields. I’m for it
March 5th, 2020 at 9:57 am
“and does not publicly accept a shred of blame for Jameis’ massive interception total.”
So no blame on Arians shoulders? The “No Risk It, No Biscuit” approach to a QB who likes to risk it, know for int’s and risky throws. What do you think would happen Coach???!!! Coaches ego right there. I thought you were gonna “whisper” to him, throwing it 50-60 times a game…ok.
Jameis is to blame for most of those Int’s, i get that, but some can be blamed on play calling and lack of a run game, taking Rojo out when he starts getting into a grove because you know Dare, and playing musical backs, lol. Lots of passing the Buc going on (pun intended) and some of BA’s excuses over the past year. What ever they decide on with Jameis and the draft, please don’t mess this up.
March 5th, 2020 at 10:18 am
Winston would be a fool to want to leave Tampa. Everyone of Winston’s defenders say “well what about the OL” or whatever excuse they want to use well think of this.. Who in the NFL has better weapons than the bucs that he could go to? If Winston were to leave all I will say is the grass isn’t always greener and good luck finding a supporting cast like Evans, Godwin, OJ, Brate and company. If you haven’t noticed by now Arians is a very confident guy, he already said he can win with any QB just about so I am really not worried who plays QB for us. Whoever Arians chooses I will trust him on he has given me zero reason to think otherwise.
March 5th, 2020 at 10:18 am
He threw for 33 touchdowns that’s great he did it one time awesome so did Matthew Stafford and not nearly as many picks but don’t see anyone rushing out to anoint him one of the best ever. Dont remember any playoffs wins for him either.
Keep on making excuses for why winston isn’t the first option all you want, I’ve never heard of the lack of a run game making a guy throw that many picks….it used to be when they didnt have receivers but leave it to bucs fans to change that narrative
March 5th, 2020 at 10:18 am
HOW ABOUT SOMENE IN THE BUC’S LIKE JASON LICHT AND BRUCE A. GIVE A THOUGHT ABOUT SIGNING MARUS MARIOTA TO A CONTRACT , GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE , SOMETHING TELL’S ME HE IS GOING TO BE SOMETHING SPECIAL , BEHIND THE RIGHT COACH AND IT JUST MIGHT BE BRUCE ARIANS THAT CAN DO IT …. ARIANS PLEASE GET MARIOTA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 5th, 2020 at 10:25 am
@mort you do know that QBs can throw TDs without throwing INTs right? And yes QBs do historically throw more INTs in their first year if this offense, had Jameis threw 20 INTs and not nearly double his season average we wouldn’t be having these conversations. Not to mention he threw more INTs in the last 8 games than the first 8 games arguably against easier competition too. So he showed zero progression this season
March 5th, 2020 at 10:25 am
No Fear….Bucs are going to pass on MM for the 2nd time…he’ll go to NE and have a successful career
March 5th, 2020 at 10:30 am
Man is joe insinuating that it’s Arians and his coaching staff fault why Jameis couldn’t stop coughing the ball up…..that’s absurd
March 5th, 2020 at 10:30 am
Wow. No more suspensions for failed ANY drug tests…that’ll end well.
March 5th, 2020 at 10:33 am
It is BA fault. Everything he said he was gonna do ( get JW run game, defense, not throw ball to much) failed and secondary is fixed quotes, keep firing, we have talent that needs coaching statements looks pretty bad right now.
March 5th, 2020 at 10:34 am
@Mort. What peril? The Bucs might be mediocre to terrible, not make the playoffs, etc. We’ve already been there for a loooong time. The Bucs have nothing to lose.
March 5th, 2020 at 10:36 am
You know that defense showed up. Also said defense had no help they had to defend from their own territory so much it was absurd. That shouldn’t be asked of any defense but their QB kept putting them in bad situations.
March 5th, 2020 at 10:43 am
Interesting comment about Shaq wanting to be here. he did comment that JW must stop throwing int’s or he would be out of football, has he not signed up because JW might still be the Qb and he knows we cannot win with him under centre ?, the wait is almost over and then JW will be gone, defense will be resigned and teddy/carr/rivers etc will take us forward to the promised land !

I’ll take Fred Sanford over Jameis. I’m getting the feeling this Bucs team is gonna be special this upcoming season. To special to depend on Mr..Helter Skelter Jameis. Hire Bridgewater. He’s a slightly better version of a guy who won us a superbowl…Brad Johnson.
March 5th, 2020 at 10:57 am
The fans in Tampa have always been pointing the finger at Winston when they should have been griping more at the defense, kicking game, and lack of running game. I’m sure he feels like the fans never wanted him here and that’s going to be the biggest reason he leaves. I blame it all on the fans and it’s sad because I truely feel Jameis wanted to win bad for us and I do feel like he would have gotten it done for us in Tampa. Jamies is my man, and I hope he comes back to the Bucs. Go Bucs! Go Jameis!
March 5th, 2020 at 11:02 am
Bridgwater is the poster boy for durability especially behind bucs soft weak line…. ba is making lovie look intelligent and that’s a tough task….
March 5th, 2020 at 11:11 am
You know who needs a fresh start? Us few fans left!
March 5th, 2020 at 11:11 am
Im not sure if some of you guys seen the same football season that I did. I watched a quarter back and two great receivers carry as much as any three guys could. I seen a running game that when backwards for most of the year. I watched a defence that gave away huge leads and a kicker who couldnt come through in clutch times. I saw a coach that came on the tv to say” hes just gotta keep chucking the ball” no matter what. THEN both wrs went out and still he produced with much less talent. KEEP CHUCKING THE BALL. The defence finally decide to play at the end of the season(welcome to the season) keep chucking the ball and he did.
Now everybody wants to blame the QB ? Give yourself a shake, this guy played with crap all year and did as he was told.
March 5th, 2020 at 11:16 am
‘Coaching Desires’
You mean like knowing you are riding your last ride of the rodeo for good and so you find yourself in the unique position of being able to hand pick your person preference at QB and taking it because you publicly stated that you took the job knowing the QB and wanting to help him improve only to discover the kid is a knuckle head… Understandable!
Arians thought better of Jw and sound up disappointed… Most of us are but the sooner you acknowledge the problem and correct the equation, the sooner you will get it right..
Arians + JW = loses (lower balls, lost games, lost seasons)
Arians + (door #2) = ? (There lays the excitement of the unknown; maybe even SB)

I ask the jealous haters of jameis again how many 16 games seasons has bridgwater completed in the last 5 years????
March 5th, 2020 at 11:33 am
how about giving JW his wrs back and a running game that goes forward, a defence that can stop someone anyone, a kicker who can see the goal post, a coach that stops feeding him to the wolf with a line that doesnt fall apart with in two seconds, a coach who by passing 90% of time sets him up for picks. Lets face it if your qb is throwing pics make him throw more???? JW even made the thug wrs look good. But everything is his fault ? please give your head a shake something is stuck
March 5th, 2020 at 11:34 am
You jealous haters also need to accept that jameis has a much brighter and longer future in the nfl than the washed up never was senile BA and his meery band of losers….
Love the fred Sanford reference BA having the Big One would be best for franchise…..
March 5th, 2020 at 11:35 am
Teddy bridgeqater stats for 2014 were 14 tds to 12 ints
His stats for 2015 were 14 td to 9 ints.
He was 9 td to 2 ints with the saints but that was not in a deep ball offense. You will get a downgrade with bridgwater to jameis.Carr would be a more viable option.
Screw it all.stop.being stupud and bring back jameis

March 5th, 2020 at 11:40 am
Bridgewater over Winston would be a huge upgrade.
Bucs could win with Bridgewater.
Bucs can’t win with Winston.
And let’s face it, wins are the most important thing, not stats
March 5th, 2020 at 11:40 am
Bridgewater is one hit away from IR. Then Blaine Gabbert will start by default…. Sounds like another typical Bucs plan that will end in total failure.
March 5th, 2020 at 11:47 am
Bridgewater is brittle and has very pedestrian numbers. If the Bucs sign him, they better bring in a very strong #2, because it is highly unlikely he could make it a full season.
If the Bucs do not think they can sign Brady or Winston then they need to tank for Lawrence

first I am not Ndog but the man knows what hes talking about. I didnt know Ndog left . If we are putting our faith in Bridgewater then all is lost for another season and we will be welcoming a new coach
March 5th, 2020 at 11:53 am
I’m 100% fine with Bridgewater and drafting a QB in rounds 2-4 if that ends up being the play.
Bridgewater’s stats in Minnesota are pedestrian because he was on a run first defensive team. He averaged only 25 pass attempts per game with the Vikings while Winston averaged like 40 last year.
Last year his worst game was the Rams game, which was one in which he did not prepare to be the starter because that was when Brees got hurt.
He went 5-0 the next 5 weeks, going 116/166 (70%) for 1219 yards (7.34 YPA) 9 TDs & 2 INTs
That paces for 3900 yards / 29 TDs / 6 Ints at just 33 attempts per game vs 40 for Winston. If you extrapolate to 40 attempts per game it becomes 4700+ yards, 35+ TDs, 7 Ints.
I’d take that either of those seasons all day over 5100 yards / 33 TDs / 30 INts and 7 pick 6s.
My dream scenario as of 3.5.20:
Sign Bridgewater to like $20M-25M deal
Bring back Shaq/JPP/Suh
R1 – DT Kinlaw
R2 – OT – somehow that can start at RT day 1
R3 – Jacob Eason
R4 – S
R5 – OG/C
R6- WR
R7 – LB
The offense would be built for a while both for present & future. The defense would be relying on another year of vet play, then we load up in 2021 on DL / front 7 to take over for the JPP / Suh’s of the world.
March 5th, 2020 at 11:54 am
watch JW leaves and lights up the league
This is the Tampa Bay Way
March 5th, 2020 at 11:58 am
Considering JW throws 80% of his picks in front of the home crowd, it could well do him good to play elsewhere. (Which would, of course fall in line with previous Bucs QB’s who go on to have success elsewhere

It’s really funny. Honestly, Winston is dragged to relevance by his two top 5 WRs the defense played good last year showing immense improvement. But the nuthuggers think this team is the 0-16 browns and Winston is such a generational QB he wills this team to each and every win he gets on his own.

March 5th, 2020 at 12:03 pm
I highly doubt the Bucs give a darn what Jameis wants. They only care what they want. If they want Winston back he’ll be back. And theirs nothing he can do about it. If they wanted him badly enough they would use the tag.
If he aren’t back it’s cause the Bucs wanted somebody(that will come to Tampa) more.
March 5th, 2020 at 12:06 pm
Lord Corn. I’m not a big college guy and not much cheaper on predictions. But I’ll put it out there that there’s no way Kinlaw will be avialable at 14. My reasoning is from what I’ve been hearing about the kid from all the mockers/experts
March 5th, 2020 at 12:15 pm
@Demon
Not sure man. Everything seems to be on the table.
@jimmyjack
I won’t be surprised if Kinlaw goes like 5-10 becuase there aren’t many disruptive pass rushing DTs at all in this class. He’s like in his own talent pool with no one else. Also why he’d be my dream value/need pick.
One of the top OTs would be a fine consolation prize (Beckton/Wills/Wirfs/Thomas/). Maybe even Josh Jones OT
March 5th, 2020 at 12:17 pm
Bridgewater has never played a full season without getting injured. What makes anybody think he can play a full season?
Bridgewater had Adrien Peterson and Alvin Kamara.
Bridgewater does not have the arm strength that Arians offense demands.
Bridgewater had A really good Vikings defense and a good Saints defense.
Now flip Winston to Saints and Vikings and Bridgewater to Bucs.
Bucs still not making playoffs.

look at the injuries JW has had…lol….shoulder, knee, thumb, eyes….lol….
we can make the argument JW is injury prone….same with ME13….teddy had 1 freak injury…thats it….
regarding his stats, as LC pointed out, teddy was in a run first offense….and even with is stats in 2015, viking still won the division and made the playoffs…..
folks acting like JW has thrown at least 30TDs every year he’s been in the league….lol….

Yeah should have put a RB in there. If we go the Teddy/Blaine route and skip out on a QB especially.
I really actually do like Cam Akers if he is there in like the 3rd/4th. FSU’s o-lines were so bad the last few years and in general the team was at an all time low with Taggart, but he still made plays weekly and has a 3 down skillset.
I’m hoping being on those crap FSU teams pushes him to like the 4th round vs him likely being a R2 type guy if he was with a better school with an O-line

March 5th, 2020 at 1:13 pm
@Joe … “Arians thinks the world of his coaching staff and does not publicly accept a shred of blame for Jameis’ massive interception total.”
I’m convinced there’s a cryptic message in there Joe; I just can’t seem to nail it down. There seems to be a SLIGHT INSINUATION that Jameis’ coaches should share at least part of the blame for his “massive interception total”. (Is ‘massive’ akin to ‘humongous BTW?).
IF that’s the case, I for one agree with you. I love our defensive coaching staff (it saved BA’s bacon this past year). The S/Ts coaching staff got terrible results IMO. And the offensive staff is way-overrated IMO.
o The OLine gave up 47 sacks (11th most) & 106 QB Hits (5th most) in 1,086 plays. Since we had 409 rushing attempts, that means that Jameis got whacked pretty good on 153 out of 677 passing attempts (ranked #8 in the NFL). Those aren’t ‘pressures’, those are ‘hits’. Not a good look.
o Our running game ranked #24 (with 1,521 rushing yards). Not gross, but still not very good. And yes, some of the play designs & play-calling was pretty bad.
o Our receivers were ‘erratic’ on the season. Mike Evans had a typical ME13 season (1,157 yards) but his catch percentage was down (56.8%), and it was really down in the first half of the season (under 50%). Chris Godwin (1,333 yards) is a beast and he totally blew up this year (71.1% catch %), including 577 yards AFTER the catch (YAC). Perriman didn’t catch fire until late in the season, and pretty much the same with the other WRs. Our TEs were pretty much an afterthought all season long.
So yes Joe, our offensive coaching staff got credit for putting up a bunch of yards and points, but this Bucs’ offense needs a LOT of work. There was a tremendous price to be paid for all those yards, and personally I think it’s an unacceptable price. In some cases, LESS really is MORE.

^ True, unbelievable.
However he did throw 9 last year, in 196 attempts
Pro-rated to the number of attempts JW had last year…
it would be 29 TD’s. – not too shabby.
That’s coming from a JW fan.
Just saying…. that number caught me offguard.

NoFear…i like your idea as well; the only thing would be if something they see in tapes completely flawed or gone in his career, but the guy was so accurate at oregon and in a vertical offense

akers is talented….not sure about his hands tho….
adrian killins is a guy to keep an eye on…..he’s probably the fastest RB in the draft…..
aj dillion is good….not sure about his hands tho…..
l.perine is a 3down back….great hands, great in pass pro but not as explosive as akers…..
we have tons of options in the draft….

Yea but those numbers are totally skewed based on the one game he played against us. Our defense was atrocious back then.
Take that game out and you’re looking at much less. Plus he’s really not a deep ball thrower to begin with…

Dudes Bridgewater aren’t coming to Tampa. I’m sorry that some of these podcasters try to make some case based on stats that Bridgewater is a fit for Bruce’s offense but he is not.
He is not the type of QB that would fit here. No way no how…….on the same note niether would Brady but I could see Bruce be more flexible to accommodate a QB of Brady’s caliber. Not doing that for freaking Bridgewater.
Maybe…..maybe if there were no other options they might go for Teddy. Not this year. Not with Brady being an option. Not with Rivers and Dalton being much better fits. Tannehill and Carr might both be avialable. I haven’t seen either play much but both are probably much better suited to run our scheme…….Don’t rule out a suprize trade for somebody like Big Ben or Stafford……Both really nice fits. And ya never know if Luck throws his hat into the ring again. He is also a perfect fit.
That’s like 7-8 options ……all better fits then Bridgewater…….Oh make it nine since Winston is a better fit too. The shoe has to fit y’all. Bridgewater aren’t happening. If I’m wrong I’m wrong but I don’t see it as a remote possibility…….I think these reporters touting Teddy got their heads up their rear.

813 it’s a new Era bro. Both for the NFL and for Bucs.
Last time I checked we got a offensive HC that has never in his career tryed to utilize a game manager at QB. It aren’t happening bro. Hate to smashyour dreams. Whoever’s under Center next year will be a QB Bruce believes can run a Top 5 offense.
Maybe he thinks that guy is Teddy and I’ll gladly own up to being dumb about it…….But it just aren’t happening bro. Not a chance.
March 5th, 2020 at 1:57 pm
there are going to be a ton of people on this site next year asking “why did we let winston go again?”
The INT issue was only BIG last year, when Jameis’ int% climbed to nearly double his career average. His TD% stayed almost consistent, he was just throwing more than he had in his career. In Dirk’s last year, check the tape and the stats – Jameis balled out and had two bad games against Cleveland and Cincy (6 picks total out of his 14 on the year) before he was benched for a game and a half. That skewed everyone’s perception. Before that it was fumbles that were his issue, not necessarily picks (which has been cleaned up for the most part).
25 year old QBs with the skillset Jameis has don’t come along often.
Bridgewater’s 4 of 9 tds last year were in one game (vs Tampa when the D was still terrible). Three of his games he threw less than 200 yards, insulated by a run game and Def.
Again – careful what you wish for, people.
March 5th, 2020 at 1:58 pm
If the Bucs opt for Bridgewater they need to upgrade their backup qb.
Bridgewater while being above avg still has a bad wheel and may not make a full season without injury.
March 5th, 2020 at 2:11 pm
BucU…you do know he has maybe 1.5 teams he can start for next year; and if 1 is not the bucs the others will have him on the pine for the year…so the good thing is interceptions will be a career low for him
March 5th, 2020 at 2:26 pm
Teddy takes what the d gives him. Including the deep ball. Leads to eating W’s. We all want a qb who bombs away and scores every 3 plays. Let’s take a look at reality nfl tv and see it ain’t happening anywhere. They didnt pay top dollar to a punter to have Jameis flip it over

check those stats……
when JW plays a full 16game season he averages 20 INTs(15,18,30)…..dont include 2017 and 2018 when he missed games….calculate the INTs for when he played a full season…..and you’ll notice his INT total goes up every year….
the thing that you fail to realize is that JW has always had issues with TURNOVERS!!!!!…..fumbles and INTs…..not just INTs…..

I sincerely doubt it, man.
Hey, if he moves on, I will definitely root for Jameis to do well wherever he goes. No doubt about it. —– But if his team plays the BUCS, I will be rooting for us to win 58-0, like I do EVERY game.
The JW argument is a passionate one, but I am sure that for 98% of those fans, it is still all about the BUCS. — At least I sincerely hope so.

It wold be refreshing to have a QB that knows how to work a defense and his progressions. One that can find the open receiver, even if there was a forced perspective option 20 yards deeper down the field.
It would really nice to see a QB that doesn’t go backwards in the red-zone in a Bucs uniform.
March 5th, 2020 at 3:31 pm
It will be nice in year 2 of the system.
March 5th, 2020 at 3:48 pm
813 valid point about this current Era in the NFL…….But you know that you know this is a different Era of Bucs football.
Historically know for defense and pounding the rock…….The current Bucs are built to be led with offense and a high octane passing attack. You know that’s true so don’t be playin.
And sorry bro. Teddy ain’t leading no top elite passing offense. That’s not his game.
It’s who we are right now and, again, Teddy simply don’t fit.
Nothing against Teddy. I think he can find success if he goes into the right situation. It just aren’t going to be the Bucs.
But if you want Teddy so bad let’s put all our cards on the table and you gotta tell me who you want coaching this team next year. Cause Bruce aren’t bringing in no game manager to run his biscuit offense. He’ll bring in somebody who fits and that ain’t Teddy.
March 5th, 2020 at 3:53 pm
And right after I type that I click on the home page and the podcast headline says Teddy freaking B. I swear y’all are driving me absolutely crazy with this Teddy crap.
It’s the dumbest idea and it don’t even make no sense and it the dumbest idea I have ever heard ever. I mean how much actual glue did y’all sniff when you were children?
March 5th, 2020 at 4:01 pm
Lol watch Jameis sign for back up money in New Orleans just to stick it to us. Sit behind Brees for a year then absolutely shred us year in and year out winning a super bowl along the way. It’s a bucs life.

We don’t want no recycled QB!!! Let’s draft our own QB. Tampa doesn’t want no Teddy!!!!!!!! Please, no!!!!!!!!!

@813:
“even if you take out the 4TD passes teddy threw vs us he still went 5-0!!!!…..thats the most important stat…..”
Fair, but can be countered with – if Jameis had Alvin Kamara to check down to, and a ferocious defense, would he not go 5-0 in those games as well? There is no definitive answer there.
And I am not a JW apologist, I just want the Bucs to win. With our running game, unless we sign a stud FA or actually, finally hit on a back in the draft who is an instant impact player, I don’t think Teddy is the answer.
March 5th, 2020 at 4:33 pm

you gotta look at how teddy got to 5-0….its wasnt him airing it out…..saints werent running wild like the 9ers or titans…..they limited their turnovers and capitalized when their defense produced a TO…..
so even if JW had AK, a great defense and a kicker, you still cant be sure JW wont have a game like he did VS the 9ers…or panthers in london….texans….
and knowing JW, as history has proved, he’d ignore a wide open AK in the flat for ME13 deep in double coverage…..lol….

It feels like JW’s camp really messed up with the $30MM/year request. That’s where the fallout started which has since turned into widespread public flogging. JW seems like NFL pariah.
Imagine if JW’s camp would have said only positive things or simply nothing at all? What if he would have said how much he wanted to play for a few team in the market for a QB.? Imagine if he said, “I’d be willing to give the Bucs a hometown discount to ensure we keep our talent.” He would have looked so good and built a market for himself.
It’s crazy how one misstep in the NFL can cost you 10s of millions.
March 5th, 2020 at 4:42 pm
jimmyjack
again, ravens, 9ers, titans and to an extent green bay didnt have elite passing offenses…..lol….
theres more than 1 way to skin a cat….
the 2 teams that just played in the SB were 2 perfect examples…..they both reached the SB taking 2 different paths…..1 team relied heavily on their QBs arm and weapons……the other team relied on the RBs and defense…..
we wouldnt need teddy to throw for 5k and 30+ TDs……
we would just need him to make the plays that are there and protect the ball…..
how many times have you watched the game and wished JW wouldve “checked it down” to keep the chain moving or at least made the next down more manageable instead of forcing a pass that resulted in a pick or incompletion?…..

An interception, if you will.
I agree with you. That move was definitely the wrong one, given all that has transpired. In the end, it really does feel like another interception… and it’s rather sad, really.
March 5th, 2020 at 4:56 pm
Yes Joe I’m glad you’ve been reading and paying attention as I have well publicized Arians and Lefty have a big hand un Winstons interception total. Yes, and pure meathead jock fashion transparent Ariens has not one time mentioned how much lefty and his playcalling had been mapped out by opposing defenses and the enormous jumps selling out a touchdown if they were wrong the Db‘s were getting on the routes. This was particularly earlier in the games and on third and fourth and short passes . It was as if the Astros had lent the opposing defenses their drum beating signals.Ariens does do a pretty good job of keeping it real, but let’s be real not when it comes to this !!! Was Winston ever told trust the route because it sure appeared that was being coached into him more so than in the past !!!
March 5th, 2020 at 5:10 pm
First it was Dirk’s downfield passing attack’s fault , then it was the WR fault , and now it’s Arian’s fault . You people that constantly make excuses for Jameis are blinded by some sort of homerism .
Hey Winston slurpers !!!!!!! Before the season , if nastradamus were to tell you that Jameis was going to throw 30 int and set the record for pick 6’s in a season , not a single one of you would have said they want him back in 2020 . And now that he’s gone and done it , you people are clamoring for him to still be under center. It’s a freaking joke .
March 5th, 2020 at 5:24 pm
Jameis makes dumb decisions on and off the field .
College
-BB gun fights in apartment complex parking lots .
-Rape Accusation
-After said rape allegation , stands on table and screams (Eff her right in the P)
-Steals crab legs from Publix
Professional
-Another sexual assault allegation (hmmmm)
-Tells little girls they need to be quiet
-Eats a W in pre-game (gets laughed at by rest of world )
-First player to throw 30 int in last 30 years. ( Tells world “I’m ballin , check you sheet “)
He also leads NFL in turnovers since he came in .
He’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer , he makes bad decisions (mistakes) on and off the field. It is hard to believe that some people think this guy is gonna make enough good decisions to win a team a Super Bowl . It’s quite comical .
“Oh look , they mating , oh wait , no , the cockroach having a baby for real .”
That was our QB!!!!!! Smh
March 5th, 2020 at 5:39 pm
It’s shocking how many ‘Bucs fans’ here don’t remember what it was like to go three and out six times a game and score 13 ppg. Let’s get a check down specialist under center who just doesn’t turn the ball over. That automatically equals success. You know, since our running game and defence is so special that it can support that.
Be careful what you wish for.
March 5th, 2020 at 5:55 pm
813….again…..I’m not disagreeing with you that you can win with that style.
I incorrectly said it’s a new Era in the NFL and you corrected me with them teams. You are right about that 100%.
But forget the Era on the NFL I’m talking Bucs Eras…….If you think this is a ground n pound team. Game management on offense winning games with defense you are off your rocker.
Sorry bud the Bucs don’t use that style nor have been built that way. Our identity is built to be Buces biscuit offense. And hes not going to change his entire sceme for Teddy. Teddy aren’t coming here. Bruce’s is getting a pro QB who can run his scheme so we can do what we were built to do.
He might change the offense for Brady but he’s the greatest QB of all time. Teddy is far from Tom Brady bud.
And while I’m at it we aren’t drafting no big plodding back to compliment RoJo. Keep hearing that one too………..That aren’t our style and we aren’t good at it. We are getting pass catchers. Just as Bruce has said.
Don’t see what so hard to just look at a situation and see what fit and what don’t. Teddy don’t fit. Very some.
March 5th, 2020 at 5:56 pm
Very simple**
March 5th, 2020 at 6:02 pm
But if your hell-bent on getting Teddy you gotta have a plan. Not just throw Teddy on to Bucs cause he was a good game manager in other offenses.
You gonna need a running game, a mailing OL(remember the Saints have multiple All-Pro players on theirs)……..Don’t think he gonna do what he did last year on the Bucs unless we make drastic changes all around.
We need a whole new scheme too so you outta just get rid of Bruce. He don’t seem like he’s here to up and change his whole system at 60+ years old.
March 5th, 2020 at 6:34 pm
Winstons performance is on him but to ignore that defenses knew what was coming isn’t helping anyone !!! And is up to the GM and Owners to address , not happening here !! Scared to death of Bruce and Bruce is in Meathead jock, my guys denial !!! Bruce’s staff must have been perfect , perhaps Licht should have the balls that Bruce did in Indy , which by the way was truthful and accurate!!! But why is Bruce/ Lefty given a pass ??? Weak GM , poor ownership !!! Poof Bruce your Staff was Perfect !!!
March 5th, 2020 at 6:57 pm
I guess any factual talk about Jameis Winston’s off field decision making will get your comment deleted. Pretty sad .

March 5th, 2020 at 9:49 pm
813 you watch enough football that you should know Bruce ain’t changing his scheme. It’s the same exact scheme he’s always ran.
He wants a QB that is an aggressive downfield thrower, not a checkdown / short throw / west coast offensive guy.
March 5th, 2020 at 9:51 pm
Noles,
Could Winston be a 30/30 guy for the Rays? 30 homers allowed and 30 K’s?
March 5th, 2020 at 11:07 pm
I’ve disparaged Teddy Bridgewater as a fit for our offense ever since his name came up as a replacement for Jameis. I still think that he is a bad fit for us, but if the “quarterback whisperer” thinks he’s good enough, who the hell am I to argue?
March 6th, 2020 at 12:51 am
One more time…if we had a decent back up…Winston never sees 30 picks or 5000 yds. You get benched before that. Fake numbers.
March 6th, 2020 at 6:49 am
Lol…. Steve K
Yea the Rays actually care about statistics, he would be benched and demoted after 5 HR’s.. LOL…
