Placing A Free Agent DE To Bucs
February 14th, 2020A former Patriots linebacker believes a certain free agent defensive end/outside linebacker would sure look good wearing… whatever the hell the Bucs will be wearing this fall.
Three-time Super Bowl winner Willie McGinest was on the same segment last night of “Total Access,” seen nightly on the NFL Network, as Thomas Davis, who floated the notion that Drew Brees will be a bridge quarterback for Jameis Winston in New Orleans this fall.
The two were trying to place current free agents in new homes. And McGinest used reason and logic to determine his choice of a landing spot for a big name.
McGinest thinks Jadeveon Clowney would be a very good fit in Tampa Bay.
Joe loves this idea but let’s be very clear: Joe wants fellow free agent outside linebacker/edge rusher Jason Pierre-Paul back.
As McGinest said, if the Bucs sign Clowney, with Shaq Barrett on board, who are opposing offenses going to double? Where will they slide protection? It’s a pick-your-own poison kind of thing between Clowney and Shaq.
Joe loves JPP but let’s be real. Not only is he 31, who knows if JPP wants to stay here? He told Joe late last season he would be good staying with the Bucs. Of course, the Bucs would have to show him the money.
Clowney, for your information, is 26. Like JPP, Clowney is also solid against the run.
What jerseys will these top potential free agents be wearing in 2020? 🤔@ThomasDavisSDTM and @WillieMcGinest predict their futures 👇

He’s 27 today. 3 sacks this past season 32 in 6 season for a #1 overall pick is a huge disappointment. How much a year do you pay for that like of production? On the good side he’s made the pro bowl x3.

Lmao 😂 that was a funny segment.

Clowney will demand more than JPP
February 14th, 2020 at 1:34 am
Clowney doesn’t go 100% every play, keep JPP

Aahh yes, the grass is always greener … whatever. Spotrac has Clowney’s Market Value listed as $20 mil. Why, I have no idea. He had 3 good years with Houston (average of 8 sacks, 20 QB Hits, 18 TFLs & 53 tackles per season) but then 3 other meh years in his career where he played in an average of 10 games per season. This past year with Seattle was definitely one of those meh years … 3 sacks, 13 QB Hits, 7 TFL, 31 tackles is NOT very impressive.
For the $20 mil, Bucs could probably sign JPP AND Carl Nassib. Gee let me think for a second about which door I’d rather open.

Yeah, I’d prefer JPP with an eye on the draft for a potential replacement. JPP brings a leadership quality that Clowney lacks IMO.
Good player but the right fit is JPP.

Clowney would have as much impact as Geraldine McFraud. Nothing fake with JPP.

The bucs need a running back and Offensive line and keep Jamie but get good free agent back like Henry then it will help the Jamie were he would not have to throw so much we need a running game we do some upgrade on offense and defense on CB as well will be caliber team Fact it’s not all jamie fault the buc never spend big money on running backs and every starting QB leaves the bucs have a better season when the bucs let them go because letting Jamie go will hurt them and trust me other players will go to that I know for a fact on a personal level they was good last season they will be great this season so keep what we got and make it better sorry and keep jones this yr should be his make brake yr for him so let’s start this season as winners
February 14th, 2020 at 7:20 am
And get a good back up QB and let him have some playing time to keep on the game mood not just use him as a signal caller have a dual threat with a good back up and with Derrick Henry in the back field with our WR on the field how can we not be talk in the NFL

Clowney is exactly what it says…a clown. i don’t think he has ever played a full season. i am darn sure he never had double digit sacks and an average run tackler. he is exactly what spurrier said about him when he seemed to have a terrible year after a very promising one at South Carolina, lazy and did not want to work at his game, reads his press clippings more than practices.

Uh, so…who’s the girl?

I like JPP, but something about the name, Clowney, gets me very excited.
February 14th, 2020 at 8:39 am
Jpp all the way. Not only a great pass rusher, but his leadership was instrumental in the Ds turnaround. Clowney is just a mercenary. Seems like he’s been hurt a lot, and not all that productive. He will also want more money as has been pointed out. I don’t see it happening.
February 14th, 2020 at 8:57 am
Give me JPP all day everyday and twice on Sunday
GO BUCS
February 14th, 2020 at 9:50 am
Clowney is way better then jpp
February 14th, 2020 at 9:55 am
3 teams in as many years? makes me go hmm.

It seems Clowney is an old 26, however. With his lower body injuries, specifically his right knee, where he has had microfracture surgery as well as surgery for a torn meniscus as well as numerous other injuries (back, hip, everything under the sun), makes JPP’s off-field injury concerns seem like nothing. JPP has injured his hand and back, but other than that, his lower body is fresh and I wouldn’t be surprised if his career lasts longer than Clowney’s from here on out. Clowney’s a young man with an old man’s lower body.

Brandon Davidson, we may share a first name but that’s where our similarities end. Clowney can’t hold JPP’s jock. Six season and not ONE 10 sack season! Are you kidding me? He’s got 32 sacks in six seasons, averaging a whopping 5.3 a season compared to JPP who has 79.5 sacks in 10 seasons, averaging 8 a year and having three 10 sack seasons. Clowney will likely finish his career with none. He had three all of last season. JPP only played 10 games last season after breaking his freaking neck and still managed 8.5. You’ve got to be kidding me. There is no comparison.

Clowney has too much arsehole in him for the Bucs. He’s all about the me.
February 14th, 2020 at 3:48 pm
The arguments you guys are making about Clowney sounds exactly like Shaq before he got with Todd Bowles. With Arians and Bowles in Clowney’s ear there’s no telling what he might be able to do. The Texams defense sure could have used him.

Jpp

Jpp > clown
