“Jaboo Is My Dawg”

January 31st, 2020

Talked to Jameis.

As Joe has already written, Joe spoke to former Bucs linebacker Kwon Alexander on Super Bowl Opening Night.

And yes, Kwon was in his element. He was so stoked and so jacked it was as if Kwon was ready to snap on his helmet and hit someone nearly a week before the Super Bowl kicked off. Joe can never remember Kwon remotely as giddy as he was Monday night.

And that is understandable since he was one game away from reaching his childhood dream. All his work and all his battles through injuries and he’s just one win away.

Knowing Kwon is from Alabama like Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, Joe wondered if he had spoken with Jameis since the regular season game to an end.

Those two came into the league together and were close as Bucs teammates. In fact, Bucs officials often referred to Kwon as the “Jameis of the defense” for his passion and intensity and drive.

Of course, Joe’s trying to find out what’s going on with Jameis and the Bucs, as Jameis will be a free agent. So Joe asked Kwon if he heard from Jameis.

“Oh yeah, ‘Jaboo’ is my dawg!” Kwon said.

So, what does Jameis plan to do, return to the Bucs or try to find greener (in many ways) pastures elsewhere?

“I don’t know what he’s planning on doing,” Kwon said. “That’s his decision. I will leave that up to him. But I know he will make the right decision.”

So unless Kwon is playing it cool, not even a close friend of Jameis has an idea where he will be playing in 2020.

“Jameis of the defense” LOL. That must be why he’s no longer here then.

  2. SteveK Says:

    Bingo- easy!

  3. Jean Lafitte Says:

Every DB in the NFL outta absolutely love Jameis. After-all Jameis can almost single handedly propel a DB into stardom. He can resurrect a DB’s dying career. There’s just so many picks to offer and Jameis isn’t too picky on who he picks to give them to. He’s a generous QB who plays no favoritism.

  4. Tye Says:

If Arians has any concerns about his legacy, he knows he HAS to move on from Winston..
Because of Winston, Arians now has a losing record in a season… So Arians will start the 2020 season as a losing HC for the Bucs… He needs to win games next year even more to get his record back on the winning side..
He has 1st hand eye witnessed JW will play the same in game 1 or game 70… so if JW does start 2020 and loses the 1st game, then it get more difficult to stop the loses from building up and to start piling up wins so hopefully he can retire from the Bucs as a success..
Surely he knows JW is to great of a risk to him going out on top!

A vet will significantly raise his chance of winning next season and a rookie he can groom offers the chance to prove it was JW issues and not his fault JW was a failed project!

  5. 40 TDs Says:

    40 TDS. Check your sheet!

Next time I play SF I’ll throw one to my dawg Xander!!!

  6. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

If funny how easy is it for y’all to give a pass to the defense in the first half of the season but not for a dude with a broke hand throwing to 3rd, 4th, and 5th stringers.
How about instead of “a vet will significantly raise his chance of winning next season”, we say a consistent defense for an entire season will significantly raise his chances of winning, and that’s with Jameis.
When things were rollin on that win streak, everyone in the national media and here on this site was riding his jock. Either y’all are bipolar or have really short memories.

  7. Dewey Selmon Says:

The QB of the defense now wears #45 and doesn’t have to juice. Kwon barely played in the NFCC and will watch his snap count Sunday. The 49ers might ask him to take a pay cut next year.

  8. Snook Says:

Kwon: former captain of the worst defense in the league. Now the most overpaid backup LB in the NFL.

  9. BucEmUp Says:

If Jameis goes.to Tennesee or New Englanf he will win the Superbowl IN TAMPA in 2021….mark.it down fools. I hope he stays but if ge goes to.either of those teams.I cant wait to hear the b.s spewing from the haters or see them vanish

  10. BucEmUp Says:

    Alaskan they are blind

  11. stpetebucsfan Says:

I think all of us here like Kwon. He certainly played some great games for us!

But he only played one full season and averaged just nine games a year over his four seasons.

This past year he played just half a season for the Niners…8 games! I like him but clearly this was not a coup by Lynch. The Bucs were wise to let him walk without paying him huge bucks.

The best ability is availability which Kwon does not possess.

OTOH…this is one area where JW does earn his bucks…he is available and durable.

  12. Tampabuscsbro Says:

it’s hysterical in hindsight getting rid of Kwon was the best thing we could have done. the whole Edge rusher issue sorted itself out.

  13. Tampabuscsbro Says:

And drafting White instead of an edge.

  14. Tbbucs3 Says:

“If funny how easy is it for y’all to give a pass to the defense in the first half of the season”

Boom. Bucs fans act like the defense was playing lights out all season when in reality they are the primary reason we were held out of the playoffs.

  15. Adrnagy Says:

    The 4th is jameis

    Sam Farmer

    @LATimesfarmer
Bruce Arians said Patrick Mahomes is one of the four smartest players he’s ever seen on the board, up there with Peyton and Luck.

“Who’s the fourth guy?” I asked.

“Don’t want to say,” he said. “That way, every other guy I have coached will think that I’m talking about him.”

  16. JP_09 Says:

It’s also funny how people want to blame the secondary/defense. When the total combined salaries of the entire secondary didn’t equate to what Winston made last year. That’s the thing with a franchise qb, they’re supposed to help your team where it’s lacking

  17. JP_09 Says:

I forgot, it’s also the 5th round rookie kickers fault too

  18. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

JP- so if a unit isn’t making any money it’s ok to suck?
What about the highest paid oline? Are they number one?
I know you were being sarcastic in your last comment but you’re actually starting to make sense.

  19. donuts Says:

Here I fixed it for you.

Mr. Turnover Entertainment, Alabama’s Quarterback, 1 time Pro Bowler, NFL record holder for pick 6s Jameis Winston

  20. MirrorMirrowOnTheWall Says:

I hope Jameis leaves the Bucs. The Bucs will alway be what they are: Losers with a fan base no one wants to associate with, while Jameis goes on to win ten Super Bowls. I ride with Jameis.

  21. Blue-footed booby Says:

MirrorMirrowOnTheWall … you sound like those Vince Young supporters when he was drafted by the Tennessee Titans. Something that went like this:

‘Vince Young was always a winner in both high school and college and he led his team to a National Championship! Oh but just you wait Titan fans, when Vince Young leaves this putrid franchise he’s gonna win Super Bowls with another NFL team! I ride with Vince Young!’

Of course, that never happened and Young promptly flamed out of the NFL not too long after.

  22. donuts Says:

ten super bowls….lmao. Sounding delusional. Bucs will rise again with a QB that can throw a five yard out on a dime and read a DEF front. Being an playoff NFL QB requires a QB with great acumen. He had 5 years to prove it and simply wasnt up to the task.

Please ride with Winston and enjoy the losing. 28-42 says everything.

  23. Pewter power Says:

Lol some of the Winston loves here are hilarious. If Winston goes to New England or Tennessee he will win a superbowl? Apparently it’s Bruce Arians fault he threw so many interceptions and set a record for pick 6’s.

Patriots have never had a quarterback throw as many interceptions as Winston did as a rookie let alone as many as his last season. Bill is gonna tolerate that? Or you saying he will stop throwing picks as soon as the uniform changes? After having Brady for that long it’ll be much worse for him from a fan perspective in that city because all they know is winning.

  24. WestChap Says:

Strange to be such a fan for a single player and not the team. Oh well, be seeing ya.

If Blameless returns I’ll silently curse for months but I’ll still be back rooting for the pewter. But if he departs… ah, the joy in Mudville of the sun breaking through the gloom! Brady, Rivers, whoever… the first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a problem at QB.

  25. TampaTown Says:

I received my invoice today to renew my long-time season tickets for the 2020 season with a due date of March 13th. I immediately called my Bucs Rep and said the Bucs are going to have to announce what they are doing with Jameis one way or another and also if they are planning on limiting ticket sales to this years Green Bay game and avoid another national embarrassment like last years Giants game. I need an answer to both questions before they get anymore of my money.

  26. Not a blind bucs fan Says:

If you put losses on the QB put them on everyone.come back to a pass, run a real route.i put 19 on jameis look at the film.resign for a cousins deal and in 2years he get’s paid$$$

  27. 941bucsfan Says:

I agree the bucs are losers and jameis will be a winner somewhere else. Kwon is in the superbowl. You cant take that away from him…. The kwon haters CANT take that away from him. You can talk all day about how much money he makes, but that defense wasnt SHXXXXT until Kwon and Nick Bosa showed up.. and thats FACTS

  28. WillieG Says:

Yeah, Kwon was the Jameis of the defense: hard worker who consistently made stupid mistakes.

Some people just can’t take what they’ve learned and apply it come crunch time. JW has had plenty of time and plenty of coaching from lots of coaches. If he hasn’t figured it out by now, he never will.

I was a paramedic most of my life and saw a few medics who were just like Alexander and Winston. They were hard workers. They were smart. But when the sh!t hit the fan, they were utterly clueless. There is no fixing people like that.

  29. JP_09 Says:

@ Alaskan no it’s not okay for those players to suck and they should be held accountable too, as they were (VH3 cut). But when they are struggling having a bad game it’s up to your “franchise players” to step up and carry the team. Yes, when your the QB making 20 mil you carry that responsibility, if you can’t make plays to win games when you still have the opportunity then you are not a franchise QB worth 30 million IMO

  30. down in the dirt doug Says:

Licht has a history of overpaying second contracts. My guess is he will offer Jameis
32 million a year on a four year contract. This would be a big mistake.!!!!!Jameis will never agree to a team friendly contract with team outs after the first or second year.Franchise him or drop him seem to be our only logical choices.
