“You Don’t Pass On Tom Brady”
January 31st, 2020Keep Jameis Winston for 2020, a Hall of Fame running back said today, but there’s one exception to that statement.
Retired Broncos great Terrell Davis is an admirer of the good and bad of America’s Quarterback.
The NFL Network analyst loves Jameis’ upside, and he’s also as flummoxed as the next guy by Jameis’ protecting the football the way Joe guards a plate of steamed bok choy and raw beets.
Appearing on WDAE radio, Davis was asked about Decision Jameis.
“(laughs) It’s a tough one because Jameis, you know, we watched him all season long. And Jameis could throw you out of a game, but all of a sudden he’ll throw you right back into one,” Davis said. “You have to figure out how you’re going to take that out of his game.”
Davis said Jameis is “careless with the ball in the pocket” and he has good weapons and has used them.
It led Davis to call for Year 6 of the Jameis Winston experience in Tampa.
“Thirty interceptions this year, that’s incredible, man,” Davis said. “If I’m [the Bucs], I definitely want to see him one more year. … I think you keep him one more year to see if you can get that sort of the turnover bug out of him.”
But there is one possible free agent quarterback that should have the folks at One Buc Palace calling a PODS container to relocate Jameis.
“Absolutely, you don’t pass on Tom Brady,” Davis said, lauding how Brady would transform the entire locker room at One Buc Palace into a winning mentality.
Joe’s warming to the Brady-to-Tampa chatter. Certainly, Joe would get it if the Bucs signed Brady and drafted a quarterback. And Team Glazer knows it would the Bucs would play at least four night games with the networks aching to air Brady in prime time.
January 31st, 2020 at 1:43 pm
I’ll pass he staying in NE
January 31st, 2020 at 1:44 pm
Bye Bye Winston!!! (one way or another)
January 31st, 2020 at 1:48 pm
With the Packers, Chiefs, Saints, Vikings, Raiders, Rams and Chargers on the schedule there’s a good chance we play 3-4 prime time games next season no matter who the QB is. It’s safe to say weather it’s Winston, Brady or Rivers this team will be fun to watch next year
January 31st, 2020 at 1:50 pm
I love Jameis,
but if Tom Brady shows ANY interest….
YES. GET IT DONE.
With the talent on this offense, and with this offensive coaching staff, and with the Super Bowl IN Tampa Bay next year…….
DO IT.
January 31st, 2020 at 1:52 pm
If Brady wants JW’s job he’s got it.
We had the debate already. Some can present some interesting “opinions” about how Brady is getting old yadda yadda and JW give us a better chance to win.
I do not agree but I concede their point. It is a possibility.
But that is IRRELEVANT. IF we could get Brady it would be a major coup. As Davis points out the locker room improves and it’s already getting strong.
But even that is irrelevant.
If the Bucs somehow get Brady they INSTANTLY become relevant in the NFL!
Keep JW and we still have…JW in particular…a LOT to prove before anybody.
We’ve hashed out the pros and cons from Brady’s perspective. What gives me a thin little sliver of hope…if a fire follows where the smoke is…the Brady to the Bucs smoke has now gone national and now starts to resemble the clouds down in poor Australia.
January 31st, 2020 at 1:52 pm
We don’t have a year to fix Jameis! He had five years! BA has less time! Bring in Brady, draft his successor, and GO FOR IT!!! GO BUCS!!!
January 31st, 2020 at 1:55 pm
no way Tom would come here
January 31st, 2020 at 1:59 pm
The Question is if Tom came here how much would he ask for? if it’s too high you won’t keep this defense intact that’s for sure. You would have to weigh your options carefully, but it’s is very interesting in which direction they will actually go.

Why not?
1) Mike Evans & Chris Godwin are the best WR duo in the league
2) OJ Howard at TE
3) Bruce Arians Offense
4) Tampa Bay – to take his shot at getting another team to the promised land and then retire with his family in beautiful TB
Why not?

Evolving
I answered this yesterday so sorry if it’s sounds repetitious.
Brady and his superstar model wife are already worth a half BILLION dollars.
So if he played for the same salary that both he and JW played for last year that’s still 5-10 million less than JW would cost.
Brady does NOT need another penny. Market value is not going to determine his choice. He’s looking for one thing only. How competitive will the team he’s joining be…does he fit into the offense and is he able to work with the coach.
If he played at 20 and gave up ten million…that 10 million is less than the interest on his net worth in a low producing account. IF Brady was driven by money you’d see him like Shaq O’Neal or Magic Johnson…two other guys who clearly do not need the money…on multiple commercials.
The Buc’s opportunity does NOT represent a financial windfall for Brady. He could easily make far more money by retiring and jumping on the endorsement train.
IMHO $$$ will not determine this deal.
January 31st, 2020 at 2:14 pm
Yea, Brady is going to come here, get sacked 50 times and lose his legacy playing for a franchise haven not won in how long?
Brady to TB is nothing but click bait for writers with nothing to say or write in the
dead period.
January 31st, 2020 at 2:14 pm
Then Terrell Davis should have his favorite team take Winston. It’s a hard way to go to get the ball back for the offense enough to score TD’s. But it as been reported that Winston gives the ball back to the other team 20.7% of the plays when the Bucs have the ball. No team can have a winning season when their QB gives the ball back over 20% of offensive plays.
January 31st, 2020 at 2:14 pm
He’s right.
January 31st, 2020 at 2:15 pm
Much as I dislike the transition tag, I’ll be very surprised if the Bucs DON’T use it on Jameis before March 10th. I don’t see how any team could commit to a QB who threw 30 INTs for more than 1 year on a ‘OK, let’s try this one more time’ approach. But if Jason Licht does his job properly, Bucs SHOULD have a competitive TEAM this year IF our QB just has an average year and doesn’t give the games away.
I wouldn’t mind seeing us pay big bucks for a true franchise QB like Mahomes who’s a true ‘force multiplier’ and can compensate for weaknesses elsewhere. Sorry, but that’s NOT Jameis. Given a solid OLine, top-tier receiving weapons, a strong running game and a kick-ass defense, Jameis can do fine. Take away any of those and it’s one excuse after another why we lost the game, although he ‘be ballin’.
Reality is that in today’s NFL, there’s no way to have a reasonably BALANCED TEAM if one side of the football is eating up all of the salary Cap. And that’s exactly what the Bucs have been doing. And then they whine about the meh performance of the defense, and bemoan the lack of a running game. Example? $7 mil would’ve bought a fairly good quality RB or Safety last year. Instead we poured that into a barely used TE. Wonder which one could’ve impacted our won-loss record more?

The BUCS have at least Won a Super Bowl since Brady has been in the league. None of these other potential teams has….
Chargers, Bears, Lions, Dolphins, Cowboys, Panthers, Titans, Jaguars….
Again, why the hell not?
January 31st, 2020 at 2:44 pm
Bucs could probably sign Taysom Hill for $5 million/ year 2 years.
Draft a QB, Safety
Draft/ Invest in OLine, RB
Sign ALL of DLine
Then, probably make playoffs

———————————————————-
Very simple, NE. Why he should leave Boston, if NE wants him back???!!!
You guys are hopping for The Impossible….. NO CHANCE.
Now, if NE don’t want him anymore, that means he is not good.
Patriots are way way more smarter, skillful, dealmakers that Bucs…..
Be real, JW will stay here, cause our organization does not know what to do ANY-BETTER. The old Gazer, the really deal maker, is gone, so and our chances to have a competitive team. Doomed.
BA = LovieS 2.0
January 31st, 2020 at 2:53 pm
^^ I am not sure why Taysom Hill would leave New Orleans.
If he is destined to be a starting QB, then he can do it in N.O. when Brees retires.
If he is going to be a backup QB…. then why not stay in N.O., where he is a cult hero and used in so many fun roles?

crazyBucs_CL Says:
“Why he should leave Boston, if NE wants him back???!!!”

No doubt, man.
I am STRICTLY talking scenarios in which he leaves N.E.
If he can still retire as a Patriot, that would be great. It just looks a little doubtful to me right now, for some reason. Maybe it is Belichick. I just don’t know.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:04 pm
As always, Mike Florio’s sourcing at PFT may have indeed mailed it. Story there now on one of the partners that owns the Dolphins will buy the team from Stephen Ross after the Super Bowl, signing Brady for whatever he wants, then sell him a small piece of the Dolphins after retirement. Gisele near Brazil, and Costa Rica..family. Miami for work. Business decision for Tom.
Our ownership could easily offer Tom the same, offer him a bigger slice of ownership after retirement. They need to think about that.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:06 pm
^^ I completely agree, WyomingDude. They need to think about that.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:07 pm
Except Brady would have far more talent on this team. Gisele could still fly easily to Brazil and Costa Rica.
Ownership needs to compete…
January 31st, 2020 at 3:09 pm
Yup @TBD…they do.
They could also hire Peyton Manning to be president of football operations too…something Peyton wants. And it would ensure that Tom’s investment stays sound for decades to come in retirement…
January 31st, 2020 at 3:21 pm
I’d love to get Brady, but I don’t see him wanting to come here. I think he resigns with the Patriots.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:22 pm
Brady is like 87. Unless you plan on hiring him as a culture coach, forget it. Oh he even has one good season left at his age after the beating he took in 2019, I’d be shocked. Go with Jameis and get someone better than Goobert to back him up and be ready to step in if Bad Jameis continues.
Like Case Keenum.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:22 pm
I heard that the lions may move on from Matthew Stafford. If he somehow becomes available he would be a good fit for this offence.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:28 pm
Oh so we are doing this again…Brady is not coming to Tampa. It takes two to tango, and Brady for the first time in his career will have teams courting him and throwing the kitchen sink at him.
At the end of the day, Brady’s old brittle bones will not bring him to a team where he is constantly getting hit or sacked. Jameis got sacked 20 more times than Brady did last year with 47. The league lead was 48.
Jameis Winston sack % is 7.0, Brady was 4.2.
Jameis took 106 QB hits as opposed to 89 for Brady.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:28 pm
Like to give Jameis one more year. And draft a good QB prospect in the later rounds. Brady is nice to dream about but I think he stays put. I would’ve retired by now if I was him. He would make our tight ends relevant though. Hmmmm
January 31st, 2020 at 3:32 pm
The “Tampa Bay One Last Paychecks”.
I don’t really have a ton of interest in being the last stop for these guys anymore. Five years ago it would have been great to be connected to rumors for guys like Brady and Rivers, now it just feels sad.
Maybe I’m the only one that feels this way.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:34 pm
Alaskan, with all due respect, what OTHER teams that would sign a QB do not have some issues of their own? — TB has as much talent to offer, if not more, than any other team out there that would sign a QB.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:34 pm
I assure you that the fans of those teams are all saying the same thing.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:36 pm
gotbbucs, i hear ya man (Alvin Harper anyone?), but I think Tom Brady is a different kind of animal.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:40 pm
Ok enough of my damn name on here today, lol.
Sorry guys for all the comments, I have to pick my spots, depending on work schedule.
Talk with ya soon.
January 31st, 2020 at 3:54 pm
Brady is not coming to Tampa, why is this even a consideration?
January 31st, 2020 at 3:56 pm
Sign Tom Brady and set this franchise back another decade!
Nothing like starting off the decade by signing a deadend qb.
January 31st, 2020 at 4:02 pm
Better keep JW if you sign Brady unless the o-line doesn’t get fixed.
January 31st, 2020 at 4:23 pm
If Brady won us a SB or even got us there next year- it’s worth it.
Close minded (FSU?) fans will refuse to accept that brady would be a massive upgrade.
January 31st, 2020 at 4:53 pm
TampaBay Demon-
Saints may not have $$ for Hill if they keep Brees and Bridgewater.
I’m just tired of all the reasons, excuses, false hope- time to start fresh at QB and WIN!
January 31st, 2020 at 5:19 pm
Remember that Brady left a lot of money on the table with his last contract in N.E. And while we’ve all suspected he did that for the sake of the cap and fielding a more competitive team…turns out he did it for another great personal reason.
Turns out part of the negotiations was Brady’s insistence on being a true FA at the end with no possibility of getting tagged. Again..he took less money in order to get a more favorable out for himself. That’s a guy who not only believes in himself but wanted to control his own destiny.
January 31st, 2020 at 5:36 pm
@Joe I agree and if we could get Brady for two years that’s a game changer and could totally get this organized chaos of an organization back to the late 90s !! How could any Bucs fan be against this and how many years has it been, but he would have targets like TEs and WRs and could keep building the D !! Go YUCS to BUCS
January 31st, 2020 at 5:49 pm
Let’s make a direct trade. Winston for Brady. Everybody wins LoL.
January 31st, 2020 at 6:04 pm
Brady would be a pipe dream. But I don’t think he’d be in it for the $$$.
January 31st, 2020 at 6:22 pm
Why do the dumbest fans seem to post the most (with all due respect to St Pete’s magnum opus like posts). BA will not change his offense for the GOAT. Besides, he could not survive behind the Buc’s o line.
January 31st, 2020 at 6:53 pm
@StPeteBucsfan…
Are you SERIOUS with that crap you wrote at 5:19 pm tard?!? Of course you’re sloppy carbon-copied tard self is stooge. Where do you think you got that info…hack?! Dunno…maybe from these threads on Brady related commentary by a certain someone who…like always…first divulged it.
Know. Your. Role.
January 31st, 2020 at 7:34 pm
^^^^like I’d answer this insulting dweeb
January 31st, 2020 at 8:03 pm
Wyoming
Who urinated in your dinner tonight. “tard…really? You’re so insecure in your posts and full of your anger that you need to STOOP to such juvenile name calling? Really?
Says far more about you than me!!!
It’s PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE…from Ian Rappaport.to all the Boston media…I could easily provide links…however rereading your poorly written post I assume you’re angry because I repeated something already stated here?
I NEVER provide attribution to widely accepted FACTS. If someone else here pointed it out I’m not about to apologize for repeating what was AGAIN a widely known fact!!!
I can only assume it was YOU who provided that info FIRST. If you’re ego is so fragile that you throw a conniption fit…boo freaking who!!! If you mentioned again a widely known fact first…big deal.
What is your point Mr. angry hostile man. If I lived in Wyoming I guess I might be in a lousy mood in the wintertime as well.
January 31st, 2020 at 8:44 pm
Jameis isn’t worth the big money but if you pay him 15 or less he won’t be happy and he’s already a head case. It’s no win here, let him test the market.
January 31st, 2020 at 9:08 pm
Now that I got your attention…Haitians need not …well. Anything.
Here in the born and bred (all generations) U S of A….
@SPBF…yeah, without need to explain in these here threads, this dude covered it multiple times, before your noise on Brady’s desire to not be tagged, longggg before you did today. ON and IN the same threads that you read, daily…and comment on daily. No nevermind to any reference to any prior stuff, cause mine was referenced a while ago, and on JBF…this is merely your (stuff) versus my seamless revelation.
Yup.
January 31st, 2020 at 9:11 pm
And your soft self SPBF..couldnt roll thru the best, brightest, boldest, and most epic…that is Jackson Hole any day of the year…on your best day. You got no idea hack.
January 31st, 2020 at 9:14 pm
Wyoming
You post just like a sock puppet for TMAX. I NEVER read his posts. Going forward you can take your posts and stick them up your Jackson hole.
You are clearly not smart enough to be worthy of reading much less debate.
Soft…bwwwaahaaaha..right out of TMAX
January 31st, 2020 at 9:52 pm
Tom Brady would suck behind the Bucs offensive line and Arians will have to change his offense to accommodate Brady’s lack of arm strength and mobility. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT 🤙🏿 GO JAMEIS 👊🏿
January 31st, 2020 at 9:59 pm
If he is open to leaving NE, I think TB is the perfect choice. Tons of weapons, a solid defense, draft an OT, and get a RB. On top of that, only the Saints are a threat in the division. Tom would have a great opportunity to go the distance with TB.
January 31st, 2020 at 10:10 pm
WyomingDude
so the brokeback cowboy’s a racist as well
January 31st, 2020 at 10:11 pm
I’m surprised to say this, but it looks like Florio’s “sources” might have sold him a bill of goods, on the Stephen Ross selling the Dolphins to the minority partner after the Super Bowl thing, giving TB12 a slice of the pie after retirement…schtick.
This Brady thing is turning into a Kardashian melodrama.
January 31st, 2020 at 10:15 pm
Neah..you illiterate punk, Idaho was Brownback country, not Wyoming. Known Haitians…and seen and heard your candor for awhile on here plenty. Btw…to prefer one, is not to be racist, toward any other…something. Aliases are aliases.
January 31st, 2020 at 10:19 pm
brady did say:
if i do lock in with the bucs for a couple years we’re gonna have to tweek those hideous uniforms
January 31st, 2020 at 11:05 pm
I know how unlikely it is… but I scramble to read every one of these snippets on Tom to Tampa. Leaves a warm afterglow every time… let me dream people!
There will be plenty of time in March for the frigid, horror show of pretending Blameless is going to magically put it all together in year 2 with Bruce.
I wonder how many yards ME could rack up with passes hitting him in stride…
January 31st, 2020 at 11:09 pm
Wyoming Dude, you sure will make a lot of friends with that type of commentary. I’ll save the insults tonight. We come in here to talk football and try to check the BS at the door. We don’t agree often but usually maintain a degree of civility in Joe’s house. I don’t get it bro, and you might want to clean it up a little or try to find the door.
February 1st, 2020 at 1:47 am
@ Adam & Mirror,
Both of you Gentlemen state that B.A. would be unwilling to change His offense for Brady.
* Why do believe it?
** Why would it be necessary to “change” the offense for Brady?
“Brady won’t survive behind our O-Line”
Perhaps you can find a legitimate / realistic point of contention. Because this one is not.
Is your objection to signing Brady is based strictly upon your comments ?
( For the record, I don’t believe the Bucs have a shot in hell at signing Brady)
I’m just curious as to why , when any proven veteran free agent is mentioned as a potential new aquistion , there’s a instant No from fans. It’s not like the bucs have been good, or building anything resembling a competitive team.
Additionally, there same fans are critical of licht. His history in draft selections and free agency is dubious at best.
The issue is compatability or lack thereof.
