Report: No Surgery For Jameis

We all watched America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, play through a broken thumb in four December games and put up extraordinary statistics that included a whopping interception total.
Call it Jameis being Jameis.
But what about that thumb?
As Bucs fans learned this season, sometimes guys have surgery and you don’t hear about it.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport has been monitoring Jameis’ thumb situation and told WDAE radio this week that he’s learned Jameis will not have surgery on the digit and the healing is completely on track.
This is excellent news, even for the Jameis haters (hopefully). But Rapoport’s comment is also an intriguing reminder of the thumb and how it might factor in on the evaluation of Jameis. It’s an unknown, and there are multiple variables.
No surgery, though, should make Decision Jameis come sooner rather than later.

Rumor has it that while no surgery will be required, he will be acquiring a tattoo on that thumb that will feature ‘2020 35/35’ … a tribute to his performance for next year’s team fooled into signing him.

Winston has thrown 88 interceptions and had 50 fumbles in just 72 career games. (not 80 games due to suspension for off field issues). And his thumb did not cause any of these T.O.’s. Jameis has done remarkable things in his 5 year tenure, but the glaring accomplishment he has done is losing games because of his T.O.’s.

I’ve broken my right thumb twice, and both times it healed up just fine with no surgery.
5 years of Winston excuses are more than enough. Bucs fans are tired of it

So the last month of the season Jameis was playing with a broken thumb, one month out of five years and we have to factor that in deciding to keep him? He did the same with the broken thumb, as he did without it. Put up some great numbers, but broken thumb or not, just turns the ball over at an alarming rate. Was his thumb broken when he threw 5 picks against Carolina this year, or the five he threw last year against Cinn? Jameis has thrown more picks in single games this year then all the picks combined during this past playoff weekend. Jameis will never shake the turnover bug, and Buc fans are being sold on there’s no better options, that we have to pay this turnover machine, I’m not buying it.

It is a great big who cares moment. Maybe some minor surgery could illicit some sympathy for the turkey. As it stands it just emphasizes the bull of why he went back to being what he really is, a turnover waiting to happen.
When you see Joe Burrow and his 60 touchdowns with six interceptions, or a Trey Lance with 29 touchdowns and no interceptions, you begin to realize Jameis is hindering the franchise, not helping it.

Maybe it is fractured, and not a full break. I broke my arm twice…one a fracture, the other a break requiring a resetting. But in both cases, everyone but the Doc called it broken.

if we sign all our FAs, continue to build the trenches, find a solid RB and have a solid defense: what will be the excuse IF JW doesnt improve his play, meaning poor decision making and turning the ball over?…..

Honestly the end of the season just left such a bad taste in my mouth. It’s like when the team steps up around him he folds, and I didn’t see that coming.
Typically the team has folded around him way more often than the other way around.
But the defense was playing at a very high level against good competition, and he was throwing dumb picks still.
I won’t be shocked if we go Jacob Eason R1. He seems to fit the BA offense with a big arm and still has some mobility.
23 TD / 8 INT his final year. 7.7 YPA. Was very solid in the few games vs top 25 competition.

Jameis pissed alot of fans off his last 2 games, me included..
Here’s the choices if you sign Jameis-
Re-sign all DLinemen and that’s about it- no free agent Olinemen, safeties or RB’s -which means no upgrades to Oline which means no run game and continue turnovers.
Sign Godwin and/or Perriman ,maybe a free agent OLineman, safety or RB and DON’T re-sign all DLinemen. Secondary exposed again and run defense worse.
The common denominator is Jameis always needs alot of help from team to overcome his mistakes . So if they keep Jameis, the D gets worse and MAYBE the Offense gets better
Or re-sign all DLine, Godwin, Perriman a free agent or 2 and gamble with a new QB.

He may not be having surgery on his thump. But IMO there is no way that they should resign him unless he has lasik or some other procedure to correct his vision.
I have been nearsighted my whole life and absolutely believe that his being nearsighted has been some contributing factor to his interceptions.

They found a surgery for QTS – QB turnover syndrome?
BTW – Is Burrow the next Mahomes? What a game last night. Did you see the deep ball throws? Running when the lane opened up in front of him? Reading the DEF? He is better in Winston and he hasnt even put on his NFL jersey. I wish we had real owners like Jerrah Jones, who would go all-in and do whatever it takes to get Burrow.
Sadly we are stuck with Brian and Joel – who love their soccer team more.
