Pressuring The Quarterback
January 10th, 2020Quick question for Bucs fans: All factors aside, regardless of ransom or salary or draft picks, if you could wave a magic wand and have Fletcher Cox line up at defensive tackle for the Bucs, would you pull the trigger?
Of course you would!
But he’s already on the team, sort of.
His name may be “Vita Vea,” but he put up numbers equal to Cox, widely regarded as the best defensive tackle in the game for getting after the quarterback.
John Owning of the Dallas Morning News was doing numberscrunching and by way of the PFF tribe found out that Vea and Cox are one and the same.
Vita Vea finished tied for 5th (with Fletcher Cox) among all interior defensive linemen in total pressures, per PFF.
I remember when I was told pre-draft that Vea would never develop into a decent pass-rusher….

Now Vea may never be a double-digit sack guy. And if the Bucs can keep their own horses this winter, there is no real need for Vea to be a double-digit sack guy like Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett.
But the fact that Vea puts pressure on quarterbacks helps push these guys back in the pocket where JPP or Barrett can swoop in and get a sack, or even better, a strip-sack.
Joe really only has one thing to say about Vea: The man is a beast.

We’ve all seen the push Joe….
He is beastly at times.
Go Vea!

Hopefully the Buc’s can keep their front 7 together.
This guy is a load and will only get better

It’s fun to watch Vea play the game.

Can we please hand him the ball or run a screen and watch someone try to tackle him.

Would love to see this guy come to camp at 329 lbs. and if during the year he goes up to 340 lbs. ….l’m good with that!!! GO BUCS…LET’S BRING ON THE NEW TALENT AND GET READY FOR THE YEAR OF THE BUCS 2020!!!

Everyone else eats bc Vea crashes the middle and eats up blockers. Not fancy, but a very solid player.

After the seattle game I cant count how many plays he was held. No calls though….guy is a monster. If Suh walks hopefully he can handle the workload.Year three I think he will be fine
January 10th, 2020 at 7:57 am
I like him better at fullback or tight end. LOL
January 10th, 2020 at 8:07 am
why doesn’t he play more snaps though?
I’m fine with less snaps if thats what it takes to keep his power up….

Vea is the only DT in bucs history that I have seen get sacks and disruptions out of how deep he is able to push the o linemen that try to block him. He rarely is able to go around them, and that is okay as long as he has got that manbeast strength.
January 10th, 2020 at 10:28 am
Literally every snap he is pushing his man into the QBs lap. No one can even stalemate him.

Hahaha!

Where is Kobe Faker to acknowledge the Danny Shelton comparison was horrible?
Or was he reverse jinxing Vea the way he tried with Rojo?
January 10th, 2020 at 11:07 am
^^^
where is Kobe Faker yes he calls Ryan Jensens fat behind an assisted tackle. (jensen has been quietly one of the better centers in the NFL) he calles Vita Vea a wannabee Ngata. and blames arians on winston’s picks. he was supposed to leave here forever after he said if ronald jones gets a certain number of rushing yards today he is never coming back in week one.
COME ON KOBE BUDDY WHERE ARE YOU.

So happy with Vea. I know he’ll never be double digit sack guy but I woul love to see him get to 6 consistently. I know sacks aren’t everything but I would still love to see him rack them up
January 10th, 2020 at 12:34 pm
I don’t need numbers to see that Vita is a Beast Go Bucs great Pick Vita over James all day People like Vea don’t come around very often size speed beast there will be another James this year in the draft

Vea is a problem for offenses, as is. With a solid off season and Vea could come back stronger, quicker, have greater endurance, and maybe even a few new moves.
Vea could turn into a game wrecker next season. Put in the work, big man.
