Keep Tailgating
December 23rd, 2019No need to rush into Bucs games the way this team is going.
And specifically, that would be Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.
Perhaps to honor the name of the stadium the Bucs call home, the Den of Depression, Jameis is uncanny in his ability to complete passes to dudes wearing different color jerseys on the first Bucs possession of games.
For example, get a load of this missive from Jenna Laine of ESPN.
Jameis Winston has now gone three-straight games with an opening drive interception. He now has six opening-drive INTs this season — three times as many as any other QB. The team can’t exactly pinpoint why this continues to be an issue on opening drives but it’s been discussed quite a bit.
So what is the point of busting your tail to get in the stadium for the National Anthem and kickoff?
You are much better off cracking open another cold Big Storm beer and enjoying that before going into the Den of Depression for lukewarm, mass-produced light pilsner from Milwaukee.
What are the odds Jameis throws another pick to start the game against the Dixie Chicks? This is starting to become ridiculous.

Fact is, the games are not so much fun with the small crowds, and like Saturday, national telecast and all, there was a high proportion of Texans fans. Even the gameday people at the Bucs are sloppy now. They don’t even put a lot of PR info out on the game. Way to many “TBD” these days when it comes to things like guest of the game, concession specials, who is singing the Anthem, etc. And everyone knows Winston is going to flub it; it’s just a matter of when. The whole Bucs wheelhouse needs to regroup. And Winston isn’t bringing in fans now, and he’s not going to in the future. I’d skip the tailgate and stay home and drink more responsibly.

The rollercoaster that is the QB of our team for one more week is making it very hard for even the diehard supporters to stay behind him.
Attendance is horrible, we are the laughing stock of the NFL again – dude just shat the bed AGAIN on national TV
BA has got to be thinking Phillip Rivers, Bridgewater, hell Daulton have to be better options than JPick…
The presser he gave was just sad, and shows plainly he knows the answer but has no idea how to translate it to the field – or any of the 19 coaches he has – Byron, Clyde, Tom Moore and BA COMBINED can’t fix him
Time to move on

BA—-an idea–have Jameis stare down a receiver in the flat on the first play–then have him turn and throw a thirty yard down field pass–may be a touchdown–or they will intercept and he will live on in infamy!!!!!!!!

Leftwich should employ screens, dumps and deep passes early…..stay away from the intermediate stuff that is getting Winston in trouble.
IMO the problem is purely in Jameis’ head……he doesn’t have it in the game….the other option is to win the toss & defer. You can’t throw an interception if you don’t have the ball.

Tbbf,
He has thrown picks on the first drive even when the other team gets the ball first. It is the scripted stuff that seems to be his Achilles heel.

there will be nobody to tailgaite (or attend games) next year if this FRAUD of a QB returns…Glazers call…save team of fire it into the toilet!

Everyone knows it was the winds fault
And the defenses fault …oh wait we cant use that one anymore …
And the Receivers fault for not getting separation. Yah tHats right
Just think if he gets another extension
Let the new and improved excuses begin because we have posters and writers supporting some doozies here. In reality, it’s Joe who continues to shine a light on the goofy wind excuse. Please refrain from misrepresenting Joe’s work. –Joe They actually will put their stamp of improval on anything to protect americas qb , mr excitement probowler 😂

Bruce I think you are completely wrong. I was at the last game and saw tons of Winston jerseys. When the season resets next year the stadium will be mostly full and if we win it will become completely full as the season progresses. Simple as that. Most didn’t go to the last game due to weekend before Christmas and season is already over. I expect the last game to have an even less turnout for the same reasons.

30 td 28 INT and 5 fumbles lost so 33 turnovers
6 pick sixes in todays nfl where the dbs cant play defense
It would only be buc protocol to sign him to a long 30 mil a year contract with 100 mil garaunteed

Why not defer the ball if they win the coin toss? Instead of giving it to the other team to start both halves?

Made this post on another thread but thought it applied here as well.
During our last winning season, in Koetter’s first season as HC, Dirk seemed to have lost complete faith in Jameis throwing the ball in the Sunday or Thursday night game against the Panthers. Koetter ran Jaquizz Rodgers over and over and over again. He ran him on 3rd and long multiple times, he ran him on almost every first down. We won the game. It was the best coaching job Koetter ever had. I’m not saying that BL and BA should completely castrate Winston but I think the coaches need to factor in the Winston early struggles into their playcalling. Mike Holmgren was far more conservative early in games with Favre. Of course, he could afford to be. Their D was almost always great. They could run the ball. And they won. This team looks to have turned the corner defensively and doesn’t need any early game Jameis heroics. This needs to be factored into early playcalling.
Again, I’m not super worried about the INTs, Brett Favre threw 29 in his only season with the Jets in a new offense, new players around him, and then he went on to Minnesota to have his greatest season ever. JW will continue working hard to get better. Hopefully, BL tries to factor in his early game issues into his playcalling in the future. We don’t need to score 50 anymore.
