Season Officially Over For Mike Evans & Jordan Whitehead
December 18th, 2019Two blown hamstrings; two starters to injured reserve.
The Bucs made it official today. Mike Evans and Jordan Whitehead are out for the remainder of 2019 on injured reserve.
Evans had a very Evans kind of year, though it’s the first time he’s played just 13 games. His previous low was 15. Evans finished with 67 catches for 1,157 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Whitehead, the second-year starter at safety, certainly played well for a fourth-round pick. In addition to his bone-crushing hits, Whitehead made his share of plays in the passing game, including his first career interception and nine official passes defensed, which is a lot for a safety.
It’s unclear whether Evans will be able to play in the Pro Bowl next month in Orlando.

Whitehead made huge strides this year. I saw him shooting gaps and making all kinds of plays vs the Lions. With his small size and speed he seems perfect for penetrating the backfield and we should see lots of him next year.
If Mike Edwards can improve over the offseason and lock down the FS spot as a more coverage-centric player and leader of the secondary, we could be cooking with gas as far having a dynamic safety tandem next year.
Lots to be excited about with this team and its future.

Whitehead-SS
Edwards- FS
Evans – 3rd S
Davis- CB
Dean – CB
SMB -Nickle
Now bring us a VET Corner and we are SET in secondary.
I expect a MAJOR jump in year 2 of Bowles Defense.
Go Bucs!!

blame it on Ira Kaufman for saying it in his podcast about our injuries.

@bucallnight , I’m over Justin Evans and I hope we cut him, replace him with Grant Delpit !!

I am excited to see this young secondary in action next year. I wouldn’t mind spending some money on a veteran FS, if that is am option.

Maybe another free safety in draft 4th round or so. Still got Justin Evans ss backup if healthy need someone to go with Edwards.

Whitehead has looked solid.

That my friend, is what she said.

Man, these hamstring injuries really SUCK!!!!
Jordan Whitehead was REALLY coming into his own, and literally took over the game with a couple of those blitzes against the Lions. Sorry we won’t get to see him finish.
The WR losses go without saying………. such a shame.

Why do people keep insisting we need a vet CB? You don’t take away valuable reps from young players. That being said, how has Darian Stewart performed for us? He should’ve never been signed.

Is Godwin officially out this weekend?

Still 0 star players in the secondary.
Zero.

Brandon go watch All or Nothing with the Cardinals and you’ll see how Arians runs his team. Veterans in every room are who hold players accountable and set the standard.

“With his small size and speed he seems perfect for penetrating the backfield”
“How you gone try and tell me what to do and ya dick little,” said Alvin Kamara’s stripper girlfriend, “Just Ace.”

@SammyRebel- totally agree on your take. Cut Evans and if that tackle from Georgia doesn’t fall to us we go get Grant Delpit and shore up that secondary.
December 18th, 2019 at 6:20 pm
The OT from Georgia (Thomas) is projected to go as low as 3rd overall. He doesn’t fall out of the top ten.
The OT from Iowa will go before the Bucs pick as well.
There are two big ugly OT’s from Alabama that will be available to the Bucs. They are a coin flip between the two but things will become clearer after the combine.
There is also a pretty good OT from Houston.

Whitehead dropped so many chances this year, he definitely is getting better, maybe after another off season he will get even stronger, faster, understand the event better. Hopefully next season he is picking everything off. Mike Edwards is going to get better too.

Where are the usual CT hysterics on here???? ME13, Ungodly and Whitehead all done with hamstrings. 3 major players on both the O and D and all sidelined with hamstring injuries. Wonder why? Bucs will win the final 2 games.
